Canva Assignment

After creating my poster on Canva, I was extremely happy with the results of my finished

product. When I started, I felt a bit overwhelmed because I knew there were people who knew

graphic design really well and I felt that I didn’t have much experience. However, learning how

to use Canva was very quick and easy. First I had to choose what type of product I wanted to

design, I chose a poster because I felt it would be the best way to show Bessy and explain what

the product is. With Canva’s clear interface, I was able to find layouts and designs I thought

worked best with our product, and with the use of my own image, I created a poster I am very

proud of. I wanted to also keep in mind the themes and colors that Bessy uses for branding, so I

learned how to change the colors of fonts and other designs to keep the color scheme I wanted.

Canva’s variety of templates helped me find inspiration to create a design that would be both

nice to look at and also informative.

After creating my poster, I was able to easily download my design and upload it onto my

computer. This allowed me to easily share my design with my group mates and ask for their

approval and input on my product. After consulting with them, I learned that it is a good idea to

check in with other people when you are creating a design, as people have many different

perspectives and can see your product in a way you didn’t. Keeping in mind some of their

suggestions, I simply went back to Canva to edit my design and was finished within minutes.

Overall, I learned how easy it is to create a design for advertising a product. This

knowledge has made me have more excitement for what else I can create in the future, because I
like being able to have an artistic vision for something and being able to carry it out. This

assignment also helped me understand my vision for Bessy’s future marketing. I want to work on

the branding of Bessy by creating advertisements that highlight the clean romantic vintage

aesthetic of the company. Canva will allow me to make a variety of designs that can be cohesive

with the ability to use the same color schemes and fonts but also eye catching and unique by

using their many different templates and customizing them for Bessy.
