AN ACT making an appropriation for educational programs relating


to history, law and civics; and providing other matters
properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

1 Section 1. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the State


2 General Fund to the Nevada Center for Civic Engagement to
3 support the We the People: The Citizen & The Constitution
4 Programs in Nevada’s elementary, middle and high schools the
5 following sums:
6 For the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 .................................. $175,000
7 For the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 .................................. $175,000
8 2. Upon acceptance of the money appropriated by subsection 1,
9 the Nevada Center for Civic Engagement agrees to:
10 (a) Prepare and transmit a report to the Interim Finance
11 Committee on or before December 18, 2020, that describes each
12 expenditure made from the money appropriated by subsection 1

1 from the date on which the money was received by the Nevada
2 Center for Civic Engagement through December 1, 2020;
3 (b) Prepare and transmit a final report to the Interim Finance
4 Committee on or before September 17, 2021, that describes each
5 expenditure made from the money appropriated by subsection 1
6 from the date on which the money was received by the Nevada
7 Center for Civic Engagement through June 30, 2021; and
8 (c) Upon request of the Legislative Commission, make available
9 to the Legislative Auditor any of the books, accounts, claims,
10 reports, vouchers or other records of information, confidential or
11 otherwise, of the Nevada Center for Civic Engagement, regardless
12 of their form or location, that the Legislative Auditor deems
13 necessary to conduct an audit of the use of the money appropriated
14 pursuant to subsection 1.
15 Sec. 2. The sums appropriated by section 1 of this act are
16 available for either fiscal year. Any remaining balance of those sums
17 must not be committed for expenditure after June 30, 2021, by the
18 entity to which the appropriation is made or any entity to which
19 money from the appropriation is granted or otherwise transferred in
20 any manner, and any portion of the appropriated money remaining
21 must not be spent for any purpose after September 17, 2021, by
22 either the entity to which the money was appropriated or the entity
23 to which the money was subsequently granted or transferred,
24 and must be reverted to the State General Fund on or before
25 September 17, 2021.
26 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2019.
