1. Identify the technical skills required for your project?

For our digital media project, many skills were needed to make sure our project would be the
best as possible. The knowledge of lots of technology sources but most specifically with the use
of Audacity. We had to know how to record our radio show and remove background sounds so
that he could be as clear as possible. Furthermore, we had to know how to adjust and add sound
effects to make our creation more natural and unique. Beside technology skills, we had to have a
knowledge about our subject which was the NHL playoffs. Finally, we wanted to make strong
connections between the world of the sport and the technology that can be used for others to
appreciate it.
2. Describe your creation process – how did you make, create and revise your project?
First as a group we did a brainstorm of all our ideas to make sure no interesting content would be
left aside. We came up with the hottest subject in todays news: the hockey playoffs that will start
soon. After, we decided with which technological platform we wanted to work with. An idea of
doing a radio show came up and we decided to use Audacity for our creation. We created texts
for all the group members on what everyone had to say, and in which order we would of talk
during the show. Finally, when the show was recorded, many times we had to go over the
Audacity software to make sure the “radio show” was has real as possible. Quick change ups and
adjustments of sounds were made at the end to make sure it was perfect.
3. Describe the potential applications of your creative media project for education. How you
adapt this media project as an educational lesson/activity?
Using Audacity in the classroom can be a great way to give the student a chance to replace oral
presentations into a podcast format. Furthermore, after a unit on any given subject, students can
use Audacity to create a podcast on what they learned or what they enjoyed the most during the
unit they just learned about. It is important for students to understand that working along with
technology can be very useful in the classes. Students may learn in many ways a discover new
talents or interest in technology that they might of never discover if technology was not included
in the unit planning.
4. What were the main challenges you faced during the production of this product?
Working as a group was sometimes hard as we all have great ideas but only could choose so
many. Also, the use of Audacity itself was not challenging but the adjustment of the sound and
the addition of the sound effects were more challenging to do during the creation of the project.
Plus, some challenges included creating a strong knowledge about what we wanted to talk about.
Our text was good, but we needed to shorten some part because the length was a little long. Do
to this problem, we had to cut some part of the show and rearrange some parts of the track.
Overall, the project did go well, and we are very proud of it. Without challenges and tougher
parts included in it, we could not achieve excellence into our radio show.
5. What did you learn?
INDIVIDUAL REFLECTIVE RESPONSES Page 2

First, I learned to work successfully in a team and create the project while both giving my ideas
but also having to listen to what others had to say. It was very important to make sure others
agreed with what everyone was doing so that we could be all on the same page and have the best
project as we could. Additionally, I learned how to work properly with Audacity where I could
create our own project with no limit or outlines to follow. Now, all the adjustments and effects
made on Audacity have no more secrets for me. Overall, I am very happy with the work we did. I
feel like I am a much with the use of technology now.
