SECTION 8.

ADVANCED IZE
PENTIUM PCI-BUS
MAIN CPU BOARD
INTRODUCTION

IMS2760
8.5 MAIN MOTHER BOARD
PURPOSE:
Main Mother board provides all necessary Micro-controller interface, CPU, extended memory, and
peripheral interface to Dynamic Disk Drives, Floppy , etc ....

OPERATION:
There are two main boards used with the IMS2760 image system.

1) HOT 486 M A I N BOARD . Used for standard systems Ortho, and Expanded Digital Package.
- Provides standard PC I / O 8 and 16 bit.
- VESA L O C A L BUS Hard Drive controller interface.
- 2F/Sec image acquisition (CHOLE )
- Simple processor control of image board set.
- Provides extended post processing image features, i.e., Sharp,4 on 1, etc....

2) A D V A N C E D / Z E BOARD- INTEL PENTTMUM 100 PROCESSOR. Used for VTM Systems

- Extended memory to 128 MB. 7.5 to 30 F/Sec Dynamic Image Acquisition
- High Speed post image processing.
- > 4F/Sec Acquisition with Dynamic Disk Drive.
- PCI I / O interface has > 30MB/Sec high speed data transfer rate.
The PCI bus is used for _> 4 F/Sec image transfer to and from the Dynamic Disk Drive and
Main CPU memory for image processing, i.e., Minification [4 on 1], Sharp edge
enhancement, Mask Image Shift, image recalculations with window/level processing, etc.
- ISA Bus controlled 7.5 to 11 M H Z for UPS 2000 image processor display board graphic
overlays and text information.
- 5 ISA I/O bus connectors and 4 PCI I/O bus connectors for correct board placement.
- PCI to A T A IDE Digital Dynamic Disk Drive controller on board.
- Floppy Controller on board.

NOTE:
DSA, and Dynamic Disk Drive options require a PENTIMUM 100 main mother board for operational
speed. PCI bus clock speed of30MHz is set on the main mother board. 16MB of memory is required to
operate the RDC2000 board with the base DSA/CINE option. However if 7.5 to 30 F/Sec Dynamic Image
Acquisition is required then 128 MB of memory on the main mother board will have to be installed using 4
32MB SIMMS modules.

LOCATION:
The Advanced Z / E Baby at board and the HOT 486 are located in the computer case and are mounted with
plastic and metal stand offs. The power connector is located in the lower left corner of the board when
installed in the computer case. The specifications for both boards are located in section 8.5.1 and contains the
necessary in formation to set the BIOS configuration for system operations. Pease read the information
before setting the system BIOS configuration.

WARNING : When installing and removal of either main mother board always use an ESD wrist band
that is attached to the computer case and never touch the card edge bus connectors. The components of the
main mother board are very delicate and can be damaged by a single electrostatic discharge . Board s must
be inserted correctly and must not be forced into the PCI , or ISA I/O Bus connector or permeate damage will
result to both the board and the PCI I/O connector pins of the main board.

TO INSTALL: Align the PCI / ISA bus card edge connector with the PCI I/O and ISA I/O connectors on
the main board and press with your thumb at the base of the board near the metal attachment bracket and
rock the board with a slight pressure at the top of the board with your other thumb until the board is
seated in the I/O connector of the main mother board. DO NOT FORCE THE BOARD INTO THE
CONNECTOR OR DAMAGE TO I/O CONNECTOR WILL OCCUR..
