Extension Activity
Write an e-mail explaining to a friend what you did in the past, and how you felt.
Target Words
• taco (noun): a flat, round food made of corn, • pineapple (noun): a large tropical fruit

e.g. Mexican food is spicy, often served with e.g. Tacos with pork and pineapple are
tacos. called Pastor.
• shrimp (noun): a type of seafood • free time (noun): time without
e.g. You can put almost anything into a taco, like responsibilities
meat, shrimp or cooked vegetables. e.g. We had some free time to explore.
• pork (noun): meat that comes from a pig • to describe (verb): to explain in detail
e.g. My favorite taco is with pork and pineapple. e.g. Can you describe the food for me?
Learning Points
You often make simple requests by asking a question with the modals can or could followed
by a verb.
When you talk about things, actions or events in the past, you use the Simple Past tense.
To form the Simple Past tense, you add -d or -ed to regular verbs like worked, or change
the verb for irregular verbs like went .
Examples:
• We worked hard, but we had some free time to explore.
• I loved Mexico.
• We went all the way down to Baja, California.
