Air Plasma Torch for Municipal and E-Waste Management
at SPPU

Fabrication of small scale Air Plasma Gassifier unit at S P Pune University, Pune using
AIR plasma torch, 0-40 kW, 50-75 cm plasma plume and core temperature ~ 5000 K.
Plant will be capable of burning about 100 kg of Municipal Waste per day in about 6-7
hours using an air based modified torch at 30 kW input power at no greenhouse gas
footprint(< 20 ppm regulatory norms).
This plant will be sufficient to manage the MSW from the University.

Center for Intelligent Systems (CIS)
(CIS
The intellectual merit of the CIS lies in:
Developing new technologies for estimation of rapid deployment in
application environments, thus substantially enhancing the current state of
investigations and possibly opening new areas of critical innovations of
existing techniques.

The broader impacts of the proposed CIS are:

Advancing the technology base for the analysis purpose, thus impacting
numerous fields of science and technology, social science, environment,
education, agriculture etc
Leveraging research to undergraduate/graduate education through planned
microATM © CIS-SPPU
experiential learning activities in currently offered courses in engineering
and technology and blend them with current market trends thus making the
innovation base relevant to state-of- the-art.
Towards promoting education of highly qualified students on the post-
graduate and doctoral level (Ph.D. and Master’s)
Developing interactive web-based course material that will be
introduced at the host institutions and will be disseminated publicly for
use by others

First product which emerged out of CIS: MicroATM

This is miniature version of ATM with biometric based personal
authentication. The machine is linked with AADHAR and has compliance
as per the specifications mentioned on UIDAI web- portal (e.g. ISO
19794-2). The device has elegant looks and compact form and looks as
