This course is a study of students will build on reading, writing research, thinking and communication skills as we explore the elements of
literature. Students will read and discuss literature from a range of genres including plays, nonfiction, novels, short stories and poetry
pieces.
Course Description Students will be engaged in developing their writing abilities as we work through the writing process to produce various pieces like personal
narratives, essays and short stories. Their grasp of writing and grammatical usage will be expanded and they will expect to demonstrate this
in their writing. The course also focuses on extending vocabulary for reading and writing and getting students to think critically about what
they read. Students also will consider the historical, social, and literary contexts of literature.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND CLASS POLICY


Each student is required to:
 Attend at least 80 % of the class hours (12 sessions);
 Submit individual / group assignments/ projects;
Course Requirements
 Give a presentation to topic assigned to him / her;
 Wear prescribed school uniform; and
 Pass the major exams
ATTENDANCE. A student will be marked “absent” if he/she enters the class fifteen (15) minutes after the prescribed time. Three
consecutive excuses for valid reasons equivalent to one (1) absent. An excuse letter will be sent to the instructors with a signature of the
student and guardian.
Class Policy MISSED WORK OR EXAM. Any student who missed ti give class presentation should submit a work assignment or to take a test should
be consulted in the concerned instructor for immediate compliance.
CHEATING AND PLAGIARISM. Student who committed any form of academic dishonestly shall be given disciplinary action, provided
in the SCHOOL HANDBOOK.
USE OF TECHNOLOGY. Cell phones should be turned off while the session is in progress. Using laptops, notebook PC’s, cellular phones
and tablets shall be prohibited unless the instructor is aware of the purpose and permits student’s request.
