A lot of electronics you buy that have varying premium versions are all the same Get Reddit Premium

In order to protect the battery from degrading, the battery is not to
be fully drained. Same goes for fully charging. So in order to make
the battery last as long as possible they limit the charge between, for Other subreddits you might like:

This seems weird to me since there is a benefit to not fully charging a lithium battery, the people with the
software limited batteries would gain a significant increase in the lifespan of their battery packs over ones that
allow for a full charge.
Like it may seem that getting to use 100% of your battery is better but if it means you lose a few years of
battery life what's the point really. Would be better if they allowed you to tell it you wanted to do a long trip
and needed a full charge while the rest of the time it only allowed the battery to be charged up to 60-70%.
Seems super weird how they did it but I can kind of see why since people will see bigger battery capacity on
the unlocked model and think that's a bonus.

Electric Cars a re a poor example. There is some dolt in this thread who is going to go and find an article of tesla
"unlocking" batteries in a wireless update during emergencies and claim that is the 25% more you are talking
about. They clearly don't even have an engeneer in their family.
Many products that have features disabled also got those things disabled because they didn't pass QA. So an Ipod
that was 32 gb might have more storage technically, but can only be rated to 32gb reliably.
Its like overclocking processors. Most you buy can be OC'd slightly, but very few can be OC'd to a major degree.
Its not just for inventory and cheaper manufacturing. Sometimes its to convert a "waste" stream into a production
stream.
Printers are an obvious exception to all the above.

There have been cases in the past where CPUs that were cut down versions of larger chips could have
deactivated cores reactivated through software.
This is rare these days, as partially activated/removed cores generally have their connections cut with a laser.
Good luck soldering it back together, those connections are measured in nanometers.

This is a thing, intel tries to manufacture a large run of their best processor then tests each. The ones that
don't pass tests on all umpteen cores get downgraded to a lower processor so they can be recouped.
I don't think they are maliciously locking them down because they are obnoxiously difficult to produce. It is
more a fact of the failure rate of trying to make the best product they sell.

Of course, this is generally why it's done. There are actual processors that have had working, software-
locked cores, at least on occasion. I know AMD had some, and possibly Intel. It's probably rare today,
but there were rumors that AMD cut down some higher-end Zen processors to meet mid-range
demand.

A lot of modern processors are similar. Fuses are blown to reduce the number of usable cores. It's cheaper to make
them with a set number of cores that can be disabled in the event of silicon defects. Clock frequency ratings also differ
between processors that are manufactured in the same way when tested for stability during burn-in phases. There
isn't much you can do about the toasted fuses, though.

I've heard the thing with processors is more that they make nothing but, say, 8 core processors. When they test
them, any that have defects making certain cores unusable, instead of being thrown out, are sold as lesser-cored
processors, like a 6 or a 4.
IIRC the original 3-core (or the first really common one in some common build like Dell or something) was a failed
4-core. They fucked something up and none of them worked as 4s; the just sold them all as 3s until they designed
a working 4-core.

So I popped off with: "Great explanation, but the only words I understood from all that was 'Any questions?'.
Everyone laughed. Many of those fuckers in that room were as lost as i was. I was the only one to admit ignorance
and ask for a deeper explanation. That get's noticed. I got a rep. for admitting when I didn't know something and
doing what it takes to make projects succeed.

I remember walking my grandmother through setting up and then later rebooting her new laptop.
Also gave her a quick crash course on how to defrag it when it started turning into a snail despite nothing running
in the background, showed her task manager, and how to safely soft reset the computer.

Yes, but when the wifi doesn't work, 90+% of the time you get a specifically named error for what in the process
is not working. If unplugging and replugging the wifi doesn't get it working again, searching that sequence of
words usually will guide you in the right direction.

In case anybody has ever wondered "Why does rebooting a system resolve so many issues?"
Its because programs are written in many different languages, and access hardware resources in various ways. More
often than they should--programs with poor memory allocation will get loaded into RAM and then not share the
resources the way they're supposed to. Temporary files and cached files loaded into %AppData% also build up over
time, and if they're not properly purged (which some can be cleared on a restart) they will begin causing issues.
You're more likely to see random intermittent errors when this happens, which are resolved by a restart, and come
back after some time.

If debt collectors are calling you, tell them you want proof of the debt and you want all future communication in
writing, no phone calls.
If it's a legit debt you will still owe the money, but they will contact you by mail and stop calling you. If they keep
calling you after you tell them to stop, they might be breaking state or federal law, or both, and you should report
them to the FTC and your state attorney general.
If they can't demonstrate that the debt is legit, and they're smart, they'll stop trying to collect it.

I got deferred on a medical debt by telling them that there were other bills that I'd finally gone to the hospital to pay
(I hadn't read my plan carefully enough and hadn't gotten the primary clearance correctly and then went for
something not covered) and found that they all had been written off, so I'd prefer waiting until their system had
registered it all and paying my debt in one go. Took them a year for them to realize that the amount they'd originally
asked for was low because it was what they'd written it off to rather than it being a subset of the bills and let me
know. My desire for simplicity got them off my back and my forgetfulness saved me hundreds of dollars.

Your post is on point but a couple of comments, 1. If a debt collector (3rd party) calls you after you have advised
them to stop calling they can only contact you 1 more time and that is only if they are calling to tell you they are
proceeding with further action = litigation. 2. There is a big legal difference between telling them to stop calling you
and telling them not to contact you. When you tell them to stop calling they will only send letters. When you tell them
to cease contact they will not send letters or mail. 3. It’s important to know what the creditors collection policies are
regarding litigation. If you tell the agency to cease communication and your account meets their qualifications they
will simply sue you. Advising them to contact you by mail only is much safer and can buy you additional time. You
need to make sure you are VERY clear when you communicate this so they do not mistake a “do not call” for “do not
communicate.

attorney I've seen in court has vigorously represented their client. When I started I was shocked at the "hostility"

I'm a newspaper reporter who covers the court beat, and I've covered about 12-13 trials over the past eight years.
About half of those trials have concluded with the attorneys shaking hands with each other once the jury goes to
deliberate. In fact, one trial - which involved a teenager who got probation - one of the prosecutors actually shook the
defendant's hand and told him "Good luck" after the case concluded.

I fired a lawyer once for this. I got called into an emergency hearing(BS lawyer just adding drama to try and make me
look bad) when me and my wife separated. Their was a felony alleged(ex threatened to send people over, i told her
said people would never leave my property if they showed up), but it had not been officially charged yet. The judge
basically said he was giving me supervised visits because I was charged with a felony. That was not true. I was never
charged. My lawyer never said a damn thing, literally nothing. After the case I see him in the jury chamber yucking it
up with the opposing attorney. I fired him on the spot and told him, " you could at least pretend you care about me
getting railroaded."

Not my industry but about 40% of Americans have taxes simple enough that the government has all the information
needed to determine what they owe. The government could recalculate your taxes, send it to you and then have you
confirm or correct it. But they don't do that because the tax prep industry lobbies hard against it. Anything that makes
taxes easier hurts them.

While this is definitely true, a huge problem with the entire industry is that congress aren’t tax accountants and write
incomprehensible tax laws that even tax professionals have trouble understanding and applying. They hire lobbyists to
contribute to tax laws so that they can be understood and reasonably enforced. Most big firms have lots of full time
support staff in DC so the other tax accountants can call to help interpret the ridiculous tax policies that make it

This mistake is thinking that congress wants to do what most people want. Statistically we're closer to an oligarchy
than a democracy
Most campaign contributions come from a tiny fraction of a percent of the wealthiest americans. And almost all the
rest come people who can afford to give $5,400 every election.
Regular people give very little, most people give $0 in most elections. What this means isn't that money buys
elections, but that most people can't afford to run. The only people who can run most of the time are people who are
explicitly working in the best interest of the rich. Most of congress isn't elected because they're smart or qualified or
hard working or even because they popular. They're elected because they're the only ones that can afford to run. The
pool of people who might end up in congress doesn't include people who care about what you think.
Look up your representatives and see who paid for them to be able to run a campaign. It wasn't people like you or
me. For almost everyone in this country their representative ran a campaign paid for by millionaires. And if you
wonder why that is, ask yourself how much you donated to anyone during the last election?
American democracy is, and has been, fundamentally broken, and we're all hoping that the people who broke it will
just decide to fix it so that we don't have to do anything about it.
There are people who refuse corporate PAC money, and rely on small donations if we're not supporting these
politicians, then we basically have no other good options.

Just to add a somewhat relevant tip, if you do have more than just a W2 and the "free" tax prep websites require you
to upgrade you can still complete all the forms and get the watermarked preview for free. You can then just get the
same blank forms off the IRS website and copy the information over.
I also discovered that the "view only" pdf from one of the popular tax prep sites is "SECURED" but has no password.
Acrobat Pro can turn off security, allow you to remove the watermarks and then print.

Not my profession but sort of close to it. A/C Service companies down here in Florida say about 70% of their service
calls are to replace the capacitor, fan motor, or clogged drain line which shuts off your AC. Most are gonna hit you with
$75ish service call just to come to your house, then charge double what the parts cost, plus the hourly labor rate.
Both of these parts are easy to replace yourself. I bought both on amazon for cheap so I have them if needed and
take a shopvac to the drain line about every quarter. It's always one of those three, and always on a damn Sunday
which is double the cost lol.

In the UK, gas and electricity rates are notched. Essentially, the agent on the other end of the phone can give you
whatever price they see fit, so long as it's a maximum of four pence at either end of the market value.
For example the market price is 19p. The agent can choose any price within the realm of 23p or 15p. But if you ask
for "<company name's> best price", they have to give you the rate at 15p.
To make their bonus or comission, the agent is given a percentage of the margin made for the sale, so naturally, they
will sell you, the consumer, your energy at 23p.
Not as good as some of the other comments here, but worth noting for the best energy rates.
EDIT: It's also worth noting that some suppliers only work with a set tariff option. In which case, this doesn't apply.
But if you were to choose a supplier that works on this basis; i.e. British Gas, NPower, Eon etc. be sure to use this

I called the cops on a friend that had a severe mental snap while out camping with other people. Was drunk calling
my boyfriend and I to apologize for all the shitty things he'd done in the past and that he is sorry for hurting us. I
noticed I could hear his car in the background and managed to get enough information to know he was driving and
what town he was about to go through. Called the cops telling them they need to pull him over I think he is going
to commit suicide. They caught him when he entered the town. Got his mum to pick him up as she was the closest
by only an hour. An officer checked on him the following day and gave him a ton of information to seek help with.
And he didn't get any charges, just a stern talking to about being responsible and getting help when you need it
next time. Also this was at 2am so the town he was driving into would have been basically empty streets so he

they all had an insurance that made it so they did not have to pay for anything. IE: Medicaid patients. Not saying
all medicaid patients act this way, bu the ones who came into the er for nonsense, all had an insurance that they
did not have to worry about the bill. The people with an actual emergency were the ones who actually had to pay
for their insurance, or had the high copays. Its a very shitty system in the US.

poor. There are a number of factors. They may have an established primary care doctor to go see. They may not be
able to take time off work to see a doctor during normal business hours. They may not be educated on the importance
of some basic preventative care. They may avoid going to the doctor (potentially to try to avoid the cost) until
something is so bad that they need to be seen right away, which lands them in the ER or urgent care.

Yep, this happened to me! 36 yrs old, runner/cyclist/good shape/blah blah blah, literally had never been admitted
to a hospital for any reason. Felt horrible for a week or so. Took over the counter cough/cold medicine to help
alleviate some symptoms, and hoped that it would get better. Ended up in the ER with a high fever, pneumonia,
respiratory distress, and sepsis. Had to stay in the hospital for five days. Now have bills for $50,000+ that will
most likely never get paid, even if I am able to get some financial assistance from the hospital/state/whoever. If I
had been able to afford insurance/had some kind of actual universal healthcare, I would have went to the Dr when
I first felt sick and it could have been all cleared up with some antibiotics...

CLEP your gen eds. Then go to a local community college to finish out an associate's.
Then transfer all of those credits into a 4 year school.
There, I just saved you anywhere from 8-15k depending on the type of degree you get and the type of University you
go to.
CLEP exams are widely accepted like AP exams. They're just not advertised the way AP exams are. (AKA pushed on
you by every single high school teacher who wants you in their AP classes.)
It's true each University has different transfer credit policies. But usually if you go to a community college in your
state, your other state Universities have block transfer arrangements with them to basically transfer in most, or all, of
your associate's degree. (These are called articulation agreements.)
So ya. CLEP your gen eds then finish your associate's part or full time at a community college while working to save
up some money. Then transfer it all over to a 4 year school and finish the last year and a half/2 years of your
bachelor's.
Some other general advice:

-Don't waste your time at a University that has no accreditation or ONLY national accreditation. 75% of schools do not
accept nationally accredited courses for transfer credit. Regional accreditation is the one you want.
-If you are military, don't go to a University that isn't willing to transfer in your JST training. No, you aren't going to
get 500 level credit for your first aid course, but it's entirely possible your electives section will be filled in from your
training and save you like, a year's worth of classes and money.
Universities make their money by keeping their future students clueless about the options that exist for them. They
will send reps to high school campuses that basically spread that old canard of, "If you don't get into a good 4year
school, you are nothing." which is meant to scare kids away from attending community colleges. Why? Because the
more money a kid saves at a CC is less spent on shitty filler courses at the 4 year school that charges $750 per credit.
College is big business now. Or, at the very least, the colleges themselves are treating it like a business. So
prospective students should too, and ya'll should aim to get as much bang for your buck as you can, especially
knowing the schools are going to try to squeeze you for everything they can. Squeeze them back.

I proctor CLEP exams and let me tell you, I had no idea this was even a thing. I had never heard of it in my 3 years of
working at a college, or the years when I was in college. It is soooooooooo cheap and the study guides for each test
(there's a big old book for all of them) are $10 each. The tests are less than $100. Some schools/places you take the
exams at may charge a proctor fee so call around and find the cheapest.
Also, check with the school you're going to be sending the CLEP exam results to what this test will transfer in as
(some schools don't accept a wide range of CLEP tests, for instance, mine only accepts 22 tests), and if there's a
minimum score to receive the credit or specific credit (like a foreign language CLEP transferring in as a 3 or 5 credit
course). I've had a student had to come back and retake a CLEP because his school required a higher score than what
CLEP considers passing to get credit, and then I had another student come back because he had to take the optional
essay component of that CLEP exam to receive credit. By the way, CLEP doesn't care and won't judge you if you
fluently speak that foreign language and want to take the CLEP for it - I had a student who was from a Spanish
speaking country take a Spanish CLEP exam. Super easy for him.
I've had high school seniors who would come and take one CLEP exam per month before going to college. You can
start taking them when you're younger than 18. The best part is, you find out your score right after so you know if
you passed (any exams with essays you will not - it takes 2 weeks).
In my experience of testing students, I find students have a harder time passing the math, science, and foreign
language CLEPs. But that could also just be the students taking them and the fact I don't see many of them in
general.

This! An Associates, especially an Associate of Arts, is typically "the basics". So taking those saves you two years at a
four-year university. Then when you transfer, you can focus on the stuff you actually want to go to school for. It also
means you can try out a couple things for cheap if you don't know what you want to get a higher degree in. And if you
bomb a class, you can retake it and it won't affect your GPA when you're at the four-year. (So definitely take the
classes you're crap at!)
Lots of Associate degrees also share a lot of classes. So it's entirely possible to get a generic Associates degree, then
hang around for another semester or two and pick off all the classes you need for a second Associates and/or
certificate. My resume looks hella impressive because I did an Associate of Arts, then went back for a second, and
picked up a handful of certificates that were literally just small combinations of the classes that were mandatory for
the second Associates.
And if the four-year won't take some of your transfer classes, ask if you can test out of them. I think I spent like $30
each to test out of four classes on my BA.
Three things to keep in mind:

1. If you get your Associates in one state and go to a four-year in another state, if you took a "state government"
class you'll probably have to retake it for the state the four-year's in.
1. If the four-year you're going to is near a community college or another four-year, they'll often have a list of
which classes will transfer and what they'll be listed as at the four-year. That's how I got out of taking College
Algebra as one of my two required Math courses. (Statistics and Contemporary Math for the win!) If it's not near
a community college, check their website anyway to see if the one you went to is listed. Or talk to an advisor to
see if they can track down how your classes will transfer.
2. If you use the Pell Grant, there IS a limit to it! I believe roughly twelve full-time semesters worth. (If you don't
go full-time, the amount you didn't use is still usable later.) So be careful using it at a community college if
you're planning to go to a four-year university later!

stocks to buy rising ones and can't figure out where all their money went...
The stock market is extremely efficient. The price right this instant is the best possible estimate of its future value. It
no more like to go lower or higher than now than it is to go higher or lower.

In photography it is what kind of camera you own. That will factor heavily into the quality of the image you capture
and the editing possibilities. Photo snobs act like that's not a factor, that you can take artistic and gorgeous photos
with a shitty old camera or disposable, which is somewhat true, but that's because they don't want to admit
photography is relatively easy once you undertand the manual controls and image composition. Photographers like to
use this anecdote: You often hear someone ask, "Wow! That's a great picture, what kind of camera do you use?" You
wouldn't sit down at at a Michelin Star restaurant and ask the chef what kind of frying pan he uses."

But seriously if you use the right frying pan it browns a lot better, and allows you to deglaze. Lots of home cooks
trying to use nonstick for everything, the results are never the same.

A decent camera increases the set of conditions under which is is possible to make a great image.
Good composition is instinctual for a lot of people, and we all know what we like but knowledge and experience enable
photographers to consistently turn out great images often in time-sensitive situations (especially sports,
weddings/events etc). Furthermore postprocessing is an arcane art that you can spend as much time as you like
learning.
TLDR: you're sort of right but it's more complciated than that, not least because all art is subjective anyway.
The other trick to good photography is numbers.

Pretentious photographers take one photo at the "perfect" angle, professionals take 200 pictures and find the good
ones. For every great wedding photo, there are dozens, if not hundreds, you don't see.

Yep. I shoot with a shitty fujifilm A220. It's a retired point and shoot digital model that goes for about $20 on Amazon.
I've taken some pictures I'm proud of, but objectively it's a piece of shit.
Better cameras can simply take in better resolution. I saw a shot another photographer took that was identical to one
of mine- same subject, same angle, mostly same lighting. His was so much better, just because he has better gear.
You might not ask a chef what kind of frying pan he uses, but I'd bet Gordon Ramsey doesn't get his pans from
Walmart.

A good camera in the hands of a skilled photographer can take great photos, but who's using it makes as much of a
difference if not more than what camera it is. You could give me the highest quality expensive camera that most
photographers dream of owning and I would probably get an out of focus picture of my own feet.

Industrial mechanic, more of an implied secret, it is said that the number 1 cause of machine faliure is lack of
lubricatio , and the number 2 cause is excessive lubrication, that's a skewed statistic because very often a company
will buy a machine, compleatlly neglect to lubricate it for a few months, and when it suddenly self districts they panic ,
change all the fluids to pretend they were indeed maintaining it by the book, (and in the process often overfill it) and
they will call support saying that it just stopped working while under warranty

Not a mechanic, but I design a lot of em. We give the end user a chart and they still manage to screw it up. Change
this filter after X hours, change the oil after X hours, etc. Then they don't, and try to come to us asking if their skid is
still under warranty after it seized up.

I used to work at a bank as a credit card specialist.

Some of these may or may not apply based on your bank. One simple trick stuff:
If you're near your limit and you need available credit to use your card, ask if you can submit a payment over
the phone and get a temporary credit line increase for the same amount so that you can run a purchase. You
can go on the website and cancel this payment 5 minutes later and the credit line will stay for 30 days.
If you want to overpay your balance because you know charges are pending and you need it to be a zero
balance but your bank will only let you pay what's posted, don't do the payment through the banks app,
website, or reps. Make a payment through another bank's bill pay or mail a check. The payment has to be
applied to the credit card even if it gives you a credit balance.
If you need to make a large purchase and want the most time to pay it off to avoid interest, make the purchase
on the day after your statement closes (not due date, closing date), the purchase will have to wait 30 days for
the next statement, and then 25 days for the interest free period before you have to pay it off.)
If your bank doesn't let you use balance transfer offers on their own cards (i.e. between different accounts you
have with them), ask for balance transfer checks (also known as access checks) and deposit them into another
banks checking account. Use the money in your checking to pay off the other card. (Banks are getting smart to
this, so you might want to wait a couple weeks or make several large payments.)
Credits have to be applied to the previous statement balance first. What this means is that returns are not
credited to the purchase balance in the new billing cycle, but instead eliminate a part of the statement balance
that's owed by the next due date. What this means is that if you make a purchase that posts, then return an
item to the store before your due date you can eliminate a statement balance that's owed. Example, your
statement says $100 statement balance $25 minimum due, you don't have the money to make the $25
minimum payment, you can make a purchase for $100, wait for it to post, return the item for credit to your
card, and the $100 is deducted from the previous statement balance, the minimum is now $0 because you don't
have any statement balance due (the minimum can't be larger than the statement balance). You could use this
trick to avoid missing a payment on a card if you have no money. (This only works if you can eliminate the
whole statement balance with a refund credit though, so it won't help you if you have a huge balance.) Banks
are smart to this one too and if you do it too much they'll close your card.
Trade lines on your credit that are disputed don't count towards your score. If you really really need to get
approved for credit but have one really bad thing in your history, you can dispute it via the websites of the credit
bureaus and it will disappear off your credit for 45 days (this only works once usually because otherwise it will
be treated as a frivolous dispute.)
If you want to speak to a US based rep (not India or Philippians) press '2' for Spanish and politely explain you
pushed the wrong button, most reps will speak English anyway, and usually will be more knowledgeable than the
specialist for the specific product you are calling about, because many Spanish departments at banks are multi-
product or multi-function (i.e. Spanish reps might do their own disputes instead of sending you to a dispute
department because there's no Spanish speaking disputes departement).
Other tips that aren't "we don't want you to know this one simple trick" but still good to know
You can get a free copy of all three credit reports every single year via annualcreditreport.com (all others are
fake and try to trick you into spending money. Type the url in, don't google this one because you might go to
one of the spammy ones. See: https://www.ftc.gov/faq/consumer-protection/get-my-free-credit-report
If you've already used your free credit reports for the year, but want to peak at your credit report, use the credit
bureau website process to "dispute" a trade line, but don't submit the dispute, you'll be able to see what history
and tradelines are being reported without actually pulling your full credit report.
Don't worry about your credit score for higher credit utilization when you carry a higher balance one month if
you're planning on paying it off anyway. Utilization has no "memory" and therefore if you pay off your balance in
full there's no record of what the balance was before and is not a part of the calculation (FICO).
You don't have to pay off your bill as soon as you make a purchase. The bank has to bill you and give you an
"interest free period" to pay it off to avoid interest. Know when your bill "closes" (i.e. is printed or emailed) and
pay up to 25 days after.
Many banks can do credit consolidations between multiple accounts you have with them. For instance if you
have a credit card with a $10k limit and a new card you got approved for that only has a $2k limit, they might
be able to lower the limit on one and increase the limit on the other. (In this example $6k and $6k.)
Don't report valid charges as fraudulent, if you have a valid business relationship with or made a purchase at a
merchant, you're going to get more help if you use the dispute process instead. Be honest. Having a valid
reason to dispute helps immensely because it puts the onus on the merchant to prove their side. Examples are
incorrect amount, charge was not authorized, item not as described, item not received, refund policy not
followed, etc. A lot of times, the merchant won't even bother to provide a sales draft for a purchase and the
dispute is ruled in your favor (even if you're wrong), but the bank is out the money for fraudulent charges so
they're going to be motivated to prove that "fraudulent charges" were actually valid if you abuse the fraud
reporting process. These are two separate processes from each other and if you conflate them, you'll waste a lot
of time and still have the charge on your card.
You can add children as authorized users on a credit card with low utilization (but with some activity) to build
their credit score before they're eligible for their own credit cards (AU is not liable for purchases and this should
not require their SSN). Makes sure they know you've done this, and remove them immediately if you think it
might negatively affect them (miss a payment).
If you're near your limit and need available credit to use your card, many banks have the ability to offer a
temporary credit line increase to replace necessary appliance like fridge, air conditioner (summer), heater
(winter), etc or other emergency reasons.
If you lose your job and you can't afford your payment at all many banks have hardship programs you can ask
for. Tell the front line specialist that you lost your job and you can't afford your payment and they might be able
to offer you a program to reduce the interest so you can at least pay off the balance (never just stop paying and
take the hit on your credit; if you have a real financial issue, a lot of banks can work with you.). These are
usually called balance liquidation programs because the bank would rather have the money back at least instead
of spending time and money trying to collect.
Your minimum payment is calculated to keep you in debt; never pay just your minimum payment (usually 1% +
interest, which means if you stop using your card it will take 100 months (8 years) to pay off your card.)
Cash advances accrue interest immediately, they do not have an interest free period. There is no way to avoid
interest on a cash advance. Never take a cash advance if you can help it.
Europeans living in America using American chip cards: You don't need a pin to run a purchase, if you run a
debit card as credit, it will go through without a pin and still be taken out of your checking like normal. (Chip and
Signature is not the same as EMV in Europe.)
Foreign transaction fees are calculated based on the amount of the charge on the day it posts (usually 2-3 days
later), we can't tell you what the exchange rate will be because we don't know the future.

I had a college professor who would always assign 6 homework problems for each class. (The kind that takes 15-30
minutes per problem). He straight up told us he was only grade 3 of them which were chosen at random.

Dunno about other teachers/professors, but when I was in college my professor just hired me (a student) to grade his
student's homework.
I checked and corrected every single homework problem on every single paper; and filled in the ones (with a short
explanation) that weren't done at all.

I don't necessarily have any damn idea what I'm doing. I do trial and error, or I do research, or I ask someone with
more experience than me.
Honest to God I'm not that handy, I'm just not intimidated about tearing things apart. And also RTFM.
I don't have any arcane custodial magics but sometimes people thinking I do keeps them from mucking about in stuff
and getting in over their heads/making things really complicated for me.
I don't go out of my way to obfuscate things and if you ask me what's up I will tell you, but the air of mystery can be
a perk sometimes.

Aerospace Engineering:
Orbital space is like radio spectrum: It's a common asset. It's loosely controlled by an international network of
gentleman's agreements, but any country could say fuck it and start hogging it. The fact that no country has is a mix
of circumstances and a testament to the best parts of human nature.
Now a couple of companies want to flood low Earth Orbit with thousands of satellites. This has the benefit of allowing
them to establish a global network, yes, but it is also intentional squatting. It seems to me that these US based firms
are coordinating with the US government to squat on orbital real estate so we can build it out first and get an unfair
leg up on the competition.
There is no reason to build thousands of disposable space wasters when you can accomplish the same with a hundred
or so decent satellites.

In medicine almost every single common problem you could possibly have is just because of some simple little thing
you are doing but shouldn’t or not doing but should on every single day.
Basically eat high quality food in reasonable amounts, drink water, be physically active, actually sleep, don’t do drugs
excessively, take the medications you must as you are told to, manage your life’s basic needs, don’t create discord at
work or home, get off your electronics and go outdoors once in awhile, take time off work sometimes, do work
sometimes, have gratitude, create or improve something in this world, educate yourself and others about something.
And then you’ve fixed not only all the problems with your health but also all the problems of your life because it
should be no surprise that the two are intrinsically related.

If your cell phone isn't charging, chances are your charging port is clogged with lint. You can clean it out yourself
easily. Just don't stick something conductive in there, that's something metal for those that don't know, like a paper
clip. Don't use a paper clip or tweezers. Turn the phone off before you clean it out. Find something else to dig out the
lint with, something plastic or non conductive.. If you are more technical you can use a can of compressed air, hold
can at least 6 inches from charging port, or you can use something like a very thin ESD safe screwdriver or ESD
tweezers if those will work. Or you can bring it to the local cell phone repair store where they will charge you $25+ to
bring your phone in the back, clean it out themselves in less than 5 min and then hand it back to you working, while
you marvel at their skills because now your phone magically charges again.
Same with the headphone port, if your phone has one.

Yes there are cases where there will actually be a damaged charging port, in this case you will need to have a
professional repair it, if you are not a professional yourself, but its best to try this first before assuming your phone is
dead.

I work at a company that mostly hires internally. You get jobs and promotions by being known to other teams and
managers as being a hard worker who is easily to get along with. You make it so your interview is largely irrelevant -
they already know who you are and what you can do.
