We Advise You in Allah Not to Retreat

An Audio Speech by the Mujahid Sheikh Abu Ubaidah Yusef al-Annabi, Chief of the
Council of Notables in AQIM

Praise be to Allah, and peace and prayers be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, his
companions and his followers.

To the mujahid Algerian people: May Allah's peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you.

Our dear people, Allah's greetings to you, and may He give you life and give life to Algeria
through you, and may He make of you a light that marches in front and behind it.

Allah the Exalted said: ﴾Musa said to his people: 'Seek help in Allah and be patient. Verily,
the earth is Allah's. He gives it as a heritage to whom He wills of His slaves; and the
(blessed) end is for the pious’.﴿ [Aal-i-Imran: 128]

At a time when the Algerian people march with all pride on their way to achieving freedom
from the shackles of humiliation, with which a handful of Francophone generals who
betrayed Allah and the Ummah have bound them, and who wasted its dear Islam and its
precious freedom, for which they paid more than 7 millions martyrs, as we consider them and
Allah is sufficient unto them, that fell on the ground of pride and honor...

At this very time the betrayal of those generals continue. Instead of responding voluntarily to
the demands of the angry popular crowds, they went about procrastinating and maneuvering
and even conspiring with the powerful. This is proof of their weakness and their breakdown.
Otherwise, they would not have turned to the enemies.
Despite this great malice, the reeling masses march in all calmness, determination, and
persistence, towards this sought after goal in an amazing atmosphere of fraternity, one that is
full of love, mercy and solidarity. They reject division and argument and see a dignified life in
the lap of the merciful Shari'ah of Islam.

In these decisive moments in the history of our Muslim people in Algeria, we can only renew
our greetings to the risen masses, greetings that are full of love, endearment, and pride. We
renew our support for this massive popular rise that we fully believe is purely a blessing from
Allah the Exalted that He bestowed on this oppressed people who has been subjected to the
bitterness of humiliation and oppression for a long time.

Allah the Exalted said: ﴾And We wished to do a favour to those who were weak (and
oppressed) in the land, and to make them rulers and to make them the inheritors.﴿ [Al-
Qasas: 5]

This requires us to present this divine current with praise and thanks at night and the end of
the day. So praise be to Allah, praise be to Allah who blessed us with this blessed uprising
with which the tree of Islam will remain standing on this land of a good people eternally.

Our people of Algeria of martyrs, you have covered in your blessed uprising long distances
until your noble goals have come within a stone's throw. So we ask you not to retreat. Here is
the governing gang falling, one pillar after another and, Allah permitting, the major pillar will
soon fall. At that time the believers will rejoice with the victory from Allah. So seek the
assistance of Allah and have patience, for the land is for Allah and He gives its inheritance to
whoever He wishes among His worshippers, and the good end is for those who show piety.

But beware, our dear people, for in the midst of the atmosphere of awaited victory often
appear the thieves of revolutions to seize the spoils. Pay attention so that they do not take
from your sacrifices and your revolution as they stole before the revolutions of our
grandparents and parents.

Do not be fooled by those thieves who just yesterday were with the gang, and today, as the
gang is about to fall, they feign innocence in order for them to keep up with the train of the
uprising. They will be disappointed and they will lose. Beware then, O youth of Algeria, that
they do not distort your goals and ends. Do not accept other than radical and comprehensive
change, and do not be pleased with other than Islam as a constitution that rules and
commands. It is your faith that Allah the Exalted revealed to His Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH). The Exalted said: ﴾And We have sent down to you the Book in truth, confirming
the Scripture that came before it and trustworthy in highness and a witness over it. So judge
among them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging away
from the truth that has come to you.﴿ [Al-Maidah: 48]
O honourable people, do not be fooled by the calls and slogans that divide your united row.
Algeria is big for all its sons despite their race, ethnicity, and language, and none is better
than the other but with piety and good acts.

Allah the Exalted said: ﴾O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and
made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most
honourable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has piety. Verily, Allah is All-Knowing,
All-Aware.﴿ [Al-Hujurat: 13]

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "O people, your Lord is one, and your father is one,
and there is no preference for an Arab over a non-Arab, or a black over a red, except in their
piety. The best in the sight of Allah are the most pious."

Here we can only in these critical days call all the categories, elites, and persons who are
fervent for the Ummah of Islam, inside and outside, to side with the oppressed Algerian
people who for long fights a criminal gang that is used to belittlement and injustice and even
murder, a gang that rules over an unarmed people supported by countries and institutions
that are hostile to Islam and Muslims.

Given that this is extremely important, we especially direct this call to those who belong to
the military services and security services in the army, the Republican Guard, gendarmerie,
border guards, police, and prison guards, to stand with your people in their blessed uprising.
This is your people. This is your country that you took the oath to Allah the Exalted to
sacrifice your persons to protect its peace and security against every enemy, foreign and
domestic.

Here the day has come, in which you do well for the oath to protect your people from the
malice of the plotters who plan day and night to punish this unarmed people through
imposition of a state of emergency and curfew, after they received the support and approval
of countries that are known to hate Islam and Muslims.

Are you pleased, O officers and O soldiers, that the destiny of Algeria continues to be
tampered with by a handful of generals who have no business but to secure their personal and
family interests?

Listen you who enlist in the military and security services. The Algerian people have rebelled
this time completely. They have irrevocably chosen their path with decisiveness. Do not let
down your people. Instead, be on their side and defend them and their constants. Support
their faith of Islam and you will succeed. Beware of being on the side of the enemies of Allah
and the people. Be careful not to listen to them thus you commit the insanity of killing the
men and women of your people, for they are your brothers and your sisters. Beware of
obeying the enemies, for they will not be of use to you. They will fall soon, Allah permitting.
And know that there can be no obedience for one who disobeys the Creator. The Messenger
of Allah (PBUH) said: "It is obligatory upon a Muslim to listen (to the ruler) and obey
whether he likes it or not, except when he is ordered to do a sinful thing; in such case, there is
no obligation to listen or to obey."

He also said: "At the end of time, there will be evil princes, corrupt ministers, and traitor
judges, and whoever of you realises this, should not have them as their as collectors, corporals,
or police."

Allah the Exalted said: ﴾Consider not that Allah is unaware of that which the wrong-doers
do, but He gives them respite up to a Day when the eyes will stare in horror. (They will be)
hastening forward with necks outstretched, their heads raised up (towards the sky), their gaze
returning not towards them and their hearts empty.﴿ [Ibrahim: 42-43]

O Allah, O Exalted, arrange fo our people a well-guided order in which You glorify Your
followers and You demean Your enemies. Truly, You are capable of that.

How great You are O Allah. Praise be to you. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I
seek Your forgiveness and seek refuge with You.

Our last supplication is praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
