Introduction
What is MAPEH?

MAPEH stands for:

Music

Arts

Physical

Education

Health.

According to Jessica Abcalen (2015) MAPEH is one of the important subjects because it’s
connected to our statistical skills and it is related to our daily lives and it is also has a great importance of
our life. Music and Arts provides an outlet for relaxation, Physical Education teaches the importance of
keeping the body active and moving. And lastly, Health helps to teach each one of us on how to stay well
and things that they should not to do on their bodies.

It is also to boost and develop the skills of a student who have talent and interest in these area. In
my journal I’ll be discussing about my learnings in MAPEH and about myself. It is necessary to learn
about in MAPEH like PE because this provides the physical movements that allow a child to develop the
ability to write. Music and art are important in brain development and also allow children who have talents
in these areas to feel success.
Acknowledgment

First of all, I want to say thank you to my family who always supports me in my studies. I am so grateful to have
you and also to my teachers who always guides me along the journey, thank you for teaching us even though there
are times we always give you some headaches because we are so hard headed. Teachers are always a second
parent and we will always love and thank you for guiding us in the right way. You made us realize how life is short
and to be treasured it forever. To all my friends, thank you for the friendship and I will always treasure all the memories
that we have been through, thank you for being by my side to comfort me when I was in my darkest days, thank you
for making me happy just to cheer me up and lastly thank you for the love that Y'all give to me I’m so grateful to have
a friend like Y'all. As I doing my journal, lots of thoughts come into my mind like “What if in the future I failed?” “What
if this way that I’m choosing is the wrong way?” “Can I make it successfully?” “Will they be proud of me?” just some
random thought. I'd lose in my words to the point I can’t even expand my imagination more in MAPEH. To those
teachers who are teaching in MAPEH, I know it’s hard to teach this subject because of these four components and
thank you for teaching this to us so that in the future. To Sir Chito Jan Ray Balino, thank you for teaching us this
subject and for the challenges you give to us this whole quarter, we realized how important the time management is
and how life is hard to our studies lol. Thank you for the waves of laughter when you are cracking some jokes, we
love you even though you don’t love us yieeeeeeeee. Thanks for the memories, Sir! And to our precious adviser
Maam Gemma Perez, thank you for the patience and support for your class Maam even though we always give you
some headaches every day. Indeed, my 2 years here in my school is not a waste of time to me. This school taught
me so many things like maintaining the cleanliness to our class home because it is our second home, treasure all
the moments while you are in a certain place and many more. I’ll be missing this and before we left, hoping that we
in the future we’ll be a success someday.
STUDENT DEVELPOMENT PLAN

I want to graduate because that’s what my parents want me or at least that’s what I can repay for
all those hardships, sacrifices they’ve given to me. Once I’ll graduate I want to buy all the things that my
Mom and Dad want to, I just want to make them happy. One of my dreams is to be a teacher like my mom
but she said it’s better to be a soldier than a teacher. Once we’ll graduate as a Grade 10 I’ll find a school
who has great quality when it comes to education. I’ll be taking the strand of HUMMS so that it can be
related to my course taking in my college Criminology. I have many dreams when I was younger but as I
as get older, for me my only dream is to finish my studies and have a good job. I’m not like the other kids
who have many dreams, I just want my life to be complete and satisfied. Maybe these 7 sentences can
describe what kind of my dream and what I want to be. Of course, I need to work hard to my studies to
reach my dreams in the future. This is all I can say about my Student Development Plan.
SELF- ASSESSMENT

Hi! My name is Lav Julia Demonteverde Broncano, a 16-year-old girl who lives in Brgy.
Katangawan, General Santos City, Philippines and studying as a Grade 10 student in General Santos
City National Secondary School of Arts and Trade- Extension. I am a daughter Mrs. Joanie Demonteverde
Broncano, a teacher at Jose R. Lansang Elementary School and Mr. Valmike Barabag Broncano, a
househusband. I have a younger named Vee Jay Demonteverde Broncano, a Grade 8 student studying
at General Santos City National Secondary School of Arts and Trade- Main. I like to read a book and
listening to music, wherever I listen to a piece of music it makes me calm like an ocean or at least to ease
away my boredom. I know how to play a guitar and piano I learned it by myself thanks to YouTube
anyways lol. I am also a sporty type, I like to play Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Basketball. I’m
also a fan of K-Pop though I can’t understand their language it’s just I like how they produced such a
wonderful piece type of music and no wonder they are quite popular in worldwide. My name is quite
unique, actually, my first name comes from my father while my second name comes from my mother. I
was born in July 28, 2002

Me as an older sister in the family I always obliged on what are the responsibilities in the house,
like when my Mom and Dad are not around I always cooked for our dinner, I and my brother are definitely
the human versions of Tom and Jerry I mean it’s normal to this siblings issue lol but I love my brother
even though we are fighting like there’s no tomorrow. We have similarities but different personalities,
supposed to be he should be a silent type like the typical boys out there but sadly he’s not. He is also the
happy virus of the family, he always crack some jokes though it’s all nonsense so I’m thankful to have a
wonderful blessing to our family.

Me as a student, I always obliged my responsibilities in our school. I always participating in the

activities though I’m not smart, I’m trying to catch up on our lessons so that I got a good grade every
quarter. Though life is hard as a student we are trying our best for the future. I know that these are the
trials in life and we should accept it, it’s just like we need to suffer the pain before to feel the happiness.
We need to graduate so that our parents will be proud of us and besides these are our main goals in life
in order to be a successful person. Education is important because it gives us knowledge and wisdom to
develop our skills, it helps us to build some opinions and have a point of view thing is in life.
Me as a dreamer, I want to be a successful woman someday. I want to be on a military-like my
uncles. I want to earn money for my future and my family. I want to make my family proud and still support
me in the future, I need to work hard for my study so that I can be successful in the future. I do believe in
this motto “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the
strength, the patience, and the passion to reach the stars to change the world.’’

Me as a person, I develop my awareness in my identity and to myself. I learned how to appreciate

the purpose of life. I learned how to read and write back when I was in my kindergarten, I learned how to
cry though just for little things, I learned how to smile every day because God always reminds me how
life is beautiful despite my darkest days. I learned how to laugh because of my friends who always support
me when I’m down and lastly I learned how to love myself.
Journal 1 (MUSIC)

Music

Is a form of art of sound expresses ideas and emotions through the elements of rhythm,
harmony, and color. According to Pritiranjan Swain (2016) he asked the students what does the music
means to them, and I’m quite shock because the responses are very matured and observant. Here are
the list of responses:

“Music is one of, if not the most important aspect of my life.”

“Music is how I relate myself to the world.”
“Music means the world to me. It makes me think about how it relates to life and I love the beats.”
“Music is a way to express yourself, keep you company while you’re alone, and always give you
something to do.”
“Music is everything, without music there is no purpose to a lot of stuff.”
“Music is a way to express yourself and your feelings. It’s something that I can go to whenever I need
it.”
“Music is a way to express feelings that might be hard to express otherwise.”
“Music to me is a source of stress relief. It helps me calm down or just to relax, on a bad day. But on a
good day, music just helps me get through the day.”
“Music is a way of expressing me and being able to relate to other people.”
“It can personify emotions in life if written well.”
“Music is a source of inspiration and expression.”
“Music wakes me up, gets me going, and is a way to add some more awesomeness to every day.”
“Music means a lot to me. It is a way to express and release emotions. I love music that on top of the
fun beats, it can carry a message that is relative to real life situations.”
“Music is a nice thing you can listen to when you want to get out and just go into your own world.”
“Music is my way to escape from the real world and just listen and let myself go.”
“Music is freedom. It’s everything. Music connects the world!”
“It is the expression of deep emotions and feelings.”
“Music calms me down, lifts me up and always makes me feel a certain way.”
“Explains things when words fail; Music speaks.”
“Music means something that’s inspiring and can match your moods”
“Music helps me connect to life.”

I agree on these responses it’s because music is a powerful instrument and has a great impact on our
society. Music serves as the mood maker every song can relate to your mood.
Best Learnings and Experience in Music

My best learning about in Music is about African Music.

African Music

Is an integral part of African culture with different regions and nations of Africa. It is also to entertain
the foreigners who visit in their villages and used in ceremonial festivals and masquerades. African Music
has a great impact on their musical influence in the whole world because of their rich culture considering
that they are one of the poorest countries in the world. In Africa, music plays a big role in Africa Society
because through this music, it is the way to interact and to relay their historical events.

Many genres of music influenced by African Music like jazz, rumba, and blues. And I am amazed about
their culture because of their unity as a family even though the other countries criticize them. Yes they
are one of the poorest countries because of the population and lack of education but when it comes to
culture, they are rich and has a great impact on our society.
Journal 2 (ARTS)

Arts

Is a field of study where the expression of human creative skills. It is also a diverse range of human
activities in creating skill and imagination, expressing the author’s imaginative skills and conceptual ideas
or technical skill.

It can be a form of various branches of a creative activity such as music, dance, literature, photography,
film, animation, theatre, graphic design, sculpture, and poetry. And as I study this topic, there are different
varieties of arts and I didn’t expect that this art has a large impact on our daily lives. Art helps society to
communicate across the barriers of language, arts, and culture. It is also influenced society by exchanging
opinions and translating experiences between cross and time. Art helps us to expand our imagination and
we can appreciate the surroundings. According to HawTa Rashed (2017) “Imagine a world without art,
no creative advertisement signs, no pictures in children’s books, no poetry, and no music. The world
would be a very dull and boring place. Over the past decade, the practice of the arts has significantly
decreased in schools because these activities are seen as less important to society. But imagine what
life would really be like if art did not exist. Although some may see art as a waste of time, and that class
time should be spent on core subjects, it is often overlooked that arts programs can help students in the
real world. Some people stress that children’s time would be better spent doing more work in math,
science and reading and less time in art and music. Even though this may seem true, the arts programs
are beneficial to students because they provide an opportunity to express creativity, relieve stress, and
boost learning skills.” I agree on this because for me art is the mirror of the society and it symbolizes our
freedom, art defines the idea of freedom of life and now in our generation, the technology helps us to
access and communicate to the other people around the world. Of course, art still have the connections
in our technology like the computers that make us easier to transform thoughts and images into art and
improves precision and elaborate on the artistic expression of the modern technology provides us. This
is all I can say about our topic because honeslty, art is the one of weakness subject. In short, I don’t do
art lol.
Journal 3 (Physical Education)
What is Physical Education?

Physical Education is a field of study to develop the students to their physical competence and it aims
to develop their physical body. It also helps the individuals to develop their cardiovascular health and
muscular strength. If you participate in this subject, you will learn how to maintain your body health and
physical fitness, it also provides a positive influence on a person’s personality.

Why Do We Need Physical Education?

People nowadays tend to forget to take care of their bodies and instead using of technologies rather
than exercising. Physical Education is important because we need to maintain our body fully healthy to
be active for a lifetime. Technologies can also help Physical Education to influence the people especially
to those who are using social media by advertising and marketing strategies. These are the benefits of
Physical Activities according to the Hertz Furniture:

• Build healthy bones.

• Improves strength and endurance.

• Reduces stress and anxiety.

• Helps control weight/ reduces the risk of obesity.

• Improves blood pressure and cholesterol level.

• Reduces feelings of depression.

• Boosts self- esteem.

• Promotes psychological well- being.

These following benefits will help us to maintain our body and to those people who lack physical activity
will get some diseases like obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. By
influencing the Physical Educations to the people, we need to help ourselves so that we can establish a
long- life healthy lifestyle.

The effects of Physical Education to us is activeness, better grades, and concentration. Physical
Education is my favorite subject in MAPEH because it can connect on sports. It helps us what are the
methods and the steps on how to execute it properly, the movements etc. Physical Education can relate
it to our next topic (Journal 4) which is healthy because our body needs health because health is the main
source of our energy to use every day.
Journal 4 (Health)
What is Health?

According to the Dictionary, Health is a state of being free from illness and injury. A person’s mental or
physical condition. Health is the main source of our energy in everyday lives, to maintain our health we
should eat healthy foods and avoid drinking alcohols to prevent the disease that can make you suffer for
your lifetime and to exercise every day. One of my favorite topics on Health is about Health Career.

By studying this Health Career, it helps the students to explore and to learn more about the specific
health careers based on your skills. Of course, health career related to those students who’ll study about
the Medication but health career helps us on which course/ track should we pick according to our skills
and talents in the field that we assigned.

Career is an individual’s journey through learning and work of aspects in life. A successful career
points us in the direction of realizing our potential and being able to share our passion to others. There
are 7 strategies of building a successful career by Career Cast:

1. Identify your goals.

2. Build a Professional Resume
3. Become Aware of your strengths.
4. Assume full responsibilities for your life.
5. Always raise your standards.
6. Brand yourself
7. Network---- A LOT.

“Building a successful career takes time, effort, and patience. If you're willing to sacrifice some
free time and you're willing to get out of your comfort zone, you will succeed. It's not that hard,
honestly. It just takes courage and commitment to follow everything that you've targeted.”
