Group Project: Goal: The goal of this project is for you to explore marketing ideas and theories and apply them to
create a new marketing strategy. Doing so will help you gain an understanding of the various marketing processes, to be
creative, and be confident in presenting your idea.
Group: You can create a team with a maximum of five members. You will have to select a project leader. The job of the
project leader will be to present the final idea or marketing strategy in the Shark Tank.
Final Report: Your team will have to create a project report. The submitted report must not exceed 20 double-spaced,
word-processed pages prepared in 12-point font Times Roman and a standard one-inch margin. Papers that exceed
this limit will be rejected. This project report should have the following:
I. A clear problem statement. (Rationale behind pursuing a certain marketing strategy.)
II. A clear description of your product that you want to market.
III. A clear description of Marketing Strategy.
The first 2 pages of the report will be the Executive Summary. The Executive Summary will basically summarize the
whole idea and your proposal in 2 pages and needs to have all relevant information for an executive (in this case it’s me)
to make a yes or no decision on endorsing your idea.
GRADING:
 50 points on Unique Idea.
 150 Points on Project Report.
 100 Points on Presentation in Shark Tank.
The project details will be thoroughly discussed in class. Also I will be available for your questions.
Participation in Behavioral Research Sessions:

EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES

Students have the opportunity to earn extra credit through participation in research activities that are approved
by the Institutional Review Board in the School of Business (SB). These activities will expose students to
business research conducted by the SB faculty. To participate, students will need to create an account on the
SB’s research site, SONA, using their PSU email address. From there, students will be able to choose and
participate in online studies and sign-up to participate in on-campus studies (in KMC 262). Each study is
associated with a different credit-value (e.g., a five minute online study is worth 1 credit and a 15 minute on-
campus study is worth 6 credits). If students complete 20 credits on SONA this quarter, they will receive a
2% extra credit addition to their grade in this class (i.e., no partial credit will be awarded). The research
studies will be available between Weeks 3 – 8 of the term. If you have questions please contact the SB research
administrator at SB-ResearchLab@pdx.edu.
