GENERALIDADES

GRAFITO
Baja permeabilidad, estabilidad térmica, baja deformación y resistencia química. Rango de Tª de
-200 °C a 3000 °C.
DIMECOT.I.
NORMATIVA
La Norma ASME B16.20 de Juntas se creó para bridas ANSI B16.5 o ASME/ANSI B 16.47 (API 605 y MSS
SP-44).
DIMECOT.I.

DIMECOT.I.
GENERALIDADES

DIMECOT.I.

determinado, función de una serie de variables intrínsecas para cada sistema, tales como la calidad del tornillo y tuerca;
coeficientes de rozamiento entre las superficies de contacto; fuerzas de rozamiento generadas en estas superficies;
Ma = Pa [ ( S + dn +0,58df) + 0,16p]
4
en la que:
df = diámetro de flancos.
DIMECOT.I.

a- For studs of quality class 8.8 with diameters of d 16 mm, there exists a serious risk that the thread will be pulled off the screw in the event of inadvertent over-torquing,
which would give rise to a load greater than the test load. It is recommended to refer to ISO Standard 898-2 in this respect.
b- Only applicable to nominal thread diameters of d 16 mm.
c- For fasteners intended for metal structures, the limit is 12 mm.
d- The minimum characteristics for tensile strength are applicable to products with a nominal length of l 2,5 d. The minimum hardness is valid for products with a
length of l < 2,5 d and for other products which cannot be subjected to tensile testing (for example, due to the head configuration).
e- When complete bolts, screws, and studs are tested, the breaking loads applicable for the calculation of Rm should comply with the values given in tables 6 and 8 (ISO 898.1).
f- A measurement of hardness effected at the end of bolts, screws and studs should be a maximum of 250 HV, 238 HB, or 99.5 HRB.
g- The surface hardness should be no greater than 30 Vickers points greater than the measured hardness of the central core of the product, when both measurements are taken
with HV 0.3. For quality class 10.9, any increase in surface hardness which suggests than this is exceeds 390 HV is unacceptable.
h- In cases where the lower elastic limit R eL cannot be determined, the conventional elastic limit at 0.2%, R p0,2 may be measured. For quality classes 4.8, 5.8, and 6.8, the
values of R eL are given solely for the requirements of the calculation, and are not test values.
i- The ratio of the apparent elastic limit, as defined in the designation of the quality class, and the conventional elastic limit at 0.2%, R p0,2, are obtained from measurements
effected using samples. When these measurements are obtained from measurements taken from complete bolts and screws, they will vary as a result of the effects of size
and the production method.

a- The boron content may be as high as 0.005% provided that the non effective boron is controlled by the addition of titanium and/or aluminium.
b- Easily worked steel is permitted for these quality classes, with maximum content in sulphur, phosphorus, and lead as follows: sulphur 0.34%; phosphorus
0.11%; lead 0.35%.
c- For nominal diameters of 20 mm the steels specified for class 10.9 may be necessary in order to achieve sufficient quenchability.
d- In the case of steel alloyed with boron and with a carbon content of less than 0.25% (crucible test), the minimum content of manganese should be 0.6%
for quality class 8.8, and 0.7% for classes 9.8, 10.9, and 10.9.
e- In addition, the products should be identified by underlining the quality class designator (please refer to Chapter 9). All the characteristics of class 10.9, such
as the specifications given in Table 3, should be met for class 10.9; nevertheless, because of its lower tempering temperature, different characteristics from
those obtained at high temperatures are found.
f- For materials of these quality classes, an attempt should be made to ensure that they possess sufficient quenchability to guarantee a structure of approxi-
mately 90% martensite in the central core of the threaded sections in the case of fasteners after quenching and before tempering.
g- This steel alloy should contain a minimum of one of the following elements in the minimum quantity shown: chrome, 0.30%; nickel, 0.30%; molybdenum,
0.20%; vanadium, 0.10%. When the elements are specified in combinations of two, three, or four, and they possess alloy contents lower than those quoted
above, the limiting value applicable when determining the class is 70% of the sum of the individual limiting values shown above for two, three, or four
elements respectively.
h- For quality class 12.9 a layer enriched with white phosphorus detectable by metallography is not allowed in surfaces subject to tensile forces.
i- The chemical composition and the quenching temperature are being investigated.
DIMECOT.I.
STRENGTH CLASSES
Nuts.
DESIGNATION SYSTEM
Strength classes for nuts are designated with a number corresponding to the 1/10 of the test tensile strength
in kg/mm. This test strength corresponds to the minimum tensile strength of a screw in kg/mm2, to which the
nut has to be joined when the minimum breaking load bearing capacity of the screw is to be assured.
MATERIALS
Nuts are manufactured in steel in compliance with the limits specified in the following table for the chemical
composition.
1) Nuts of these quality classes may be manufactured from easily worked steels, unless otherwise agreed between the purchaser and the
manufacturer. In such cases, the following maximum content in sulphur, phosphorus, and lead are acceptable:
2) If necessary alloying elements may be added in order to improve the mechanical characteristics of the nuts.

DIMECOT.I.
Steel alloys using difference chemical elements are produced in order to improve the physical properties
of the material and to achieve special properties:
Carbon (C)
Although this is not considered to be an alloying element, it is the most important component in steel. It
improves tensile strength, hardness, and abrasion resistance. It reduces ductility, rigidity, and machining.
Manganese (Mn)
This is an oxidiser and degasifier, and reacts with sulphur to improve forgeability. It increases tensile
strength, hardness, and durability.
Phosphorus (P)
This increases tensile strength and hardness and improves machinability. It causes fragility in steel.
Sulphur (S)
Improves machining qualities in the presence of manganese. It reduces weldability, impact, roughness,
and ductility.
Silicon (Si)
This is a deoxidiser and degasifier. It increases tensile strength, elasticity, hardness, and forgeability.
Chromium (Cr)
Increase breaking strength, hardness, durability, roughness, and resistance to high temperatures.
Nickel (Ni)
This raises strength and hardness, while maintaining ductility and rigidity. It increases resistance to
cracking and high temperatures.
Molybdenum (Mo)
This increases strength, hardness, durability, and rigidity, together with resistance to cracking and to high
temperatures.
Titanium (Ti)
This is used as a stabilising element in stainless steels. It has a great affinity for carbon.
