Conflict Management

Description
Conflict management is the occurrence of different obstacles, problems or conflicts on an
event, but still being able to identify and handle these conflicts sensibly, fairly, and efficiently.
Since conflicts in a business are a natural part of the workplace, it is important that there are
people who understand conflicts and know how to resolve them. This is important in today's
market more than ever. Everyone is striving to show how valuable they are to the company they
work for and at times, this can lead to disputes with other members of the team.

Conflicts naturally happen in workplaces, especially on hospitals since the institutions

requires interdepartmental collaboration and teamwork. In these kind of workpalce,
communication is vital. Concerns concerning different patients are occuring every single minute,
and so management of these conflicts must be effective to save lives. Conflicts happen. How an
employee responds and resolves conflict will limit or enable that employee's success. There are
5 conflict styles which are being used to resolve problems being encountered. Accomodating,
Avoiding, Collaborating, Competing, and Compromising.

Feelings
I feel like managing conflicts is very important in every institution or workplace, and not
only in the hospitals. Havging to encounter problems is very natural. As a nurse, competence and
standards is very important in our job description. Our errors can cause somebody's life and so as
much as possible we should avoid certain types of misdoings. But naturally, there are certain
situations where we nurses experiences conflicts, and so we should be analytic, confident and
knowledgable enough to manage these conflicts.

Evaluation
an example the most common experience of a nurse is when a patient does not want to
adhere in the plan of care given. For example refuses to drink a certain medicationor to do a
certain procedure. Of course as a nurse our main objective is to give our patients the course of
care they need in order to promote health and wellness. But when these kind of cinflicts come, we
have to follow certain protocols to manage this conflict. As a nurse, when the patient refuses, we
give them a waiver form which can be an evidence that the patient really refused. There are many
more situations where conflicts happen, like euthanasia, and when poor people who cannot pay
needs to be admitted, but we as nurses follow ehtics to deal with and manage these conflicts or if
not follow protocols of the institution we are in.
