“Working abroad has since become commonplace for Filipinos, weaving itself into the political

and social fabric of their country. Of a total current population of 92.2 million, there are
approximately 10 million Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) around the world in 170 countries,
with 1 million in Saudi Arabia alone, followed by Japan, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates
and Taiwan.”

Ifugao OFWs showcase overseas cultural experiences in ‘Algon di Nunbaat’

By Jamie Joie P. Malingan

“At least 200 OFWs from the different municipalities of the province got the chance to share the
culture they have experienced abroad during the OFW Day spearheaded by the Provincial
Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Local Government Unit, Overseas Workers
Welfare Administration, and the Provincial Planning and Development Office.
The event featured bits of the culture of the top eleven countries most frequented by OFWs
through booths, song and dance presentations, and various cuisines.”

napapalapit bilang isang globalisadong bansa.

Teachers help OFW children in Italy learn Filipino language, culture

“Living in a foreign land is hard. You need to adapt to its environment, culture and language to
be able to survive. Some teachers went to Venice, Italy to teach Filipino children who are born
and raised there the language and culture of their motherland.”

“RA 7104
Section 1. Short Title. – This Act shall be known as the "Commission on the Filipino Language
Act."

Section 2. Declaration of Policy. – Pursuant to the mandate of the Constitution, it is hereby

declared to be a policy, of the Government to ensure and promote the evolution, development
and further enrichment of Filipino as the national language of the Philippines, on the basis of
existing Philippine and other languages. To this end, the Government shall take the necessary
steps to carry out the said policy.”

Does Federalism Make Sense For The Philippines?

Richard Heydarian
“Next on Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s agenda is changing the country’s form of
government under a new constitution. The move has provoked a backlash among certain
sections of society, ranging from the business sector to the church and media, which have
questioned the rationale for constitutional change.”

Nawawala kultura natin ngunit wala tayong
ginagawa. Lalo pa natin niyayakap ang pagiging kanluranin.

Philippines’ Shallow Capitalism: Westernization Without Prosperity

Richard Heydarian
“The Philippines, shaped by its colonial legacy, has emulated Western lifestyles and urban
architectures It is time for the Filipino elite to rediscover the true meaning of modernity,
democracy, and progress. And for the wider population to fight for genuine prosperity.”

Kailangan
