Table Manner Report

Writer would like to report after joined table manner in Hotel called Swiss-Belboutique
which located in Jendral Sudirman Street No. 69, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. They have interesting
statement for their profile company that is “A luxurious hotel in Yogyakarta that provides high
quality standard of service and facilities for both business and leisure”. Swiss-Belboutique hotel is
categorized as a 4 stars rate which has international standardization for every properties. That was
the reason why brilliant idea to chose Swiss-Belboutique for table manner lesson. The hotel has 122
rooms which are consists of Deluxe, Grand Deluxe, Business Suite, and Executive Suite. There are
facillities such as LCD TV with international channels, IDD telephone, high speed internet for cable
and wireless or Wi-Fi which also can be access in public space, private cupboard in each room,
contacless door locker, socket electricity tools for making coffee and tea, air conditioner with
individual control, mini-bar and bathtub or shower. Here are more informations about room size;
88 Deluxe: 26 m2, 26 Grand Deluxe: 32 m2, 6 Business Suite: 65 m2, 1 Executive Suite: 100 m2.
There are eight meeting rooms which available for business and private functions. Ideal to host an
exibition, seminar, convention, wedding, gala dinner, private party or meeting in Yogyakarta. Each
room is equipped with arranged to suit the type of event and the specific needs of each client. They
also have team of event planners who can help to arrange for particular occasion.

After joined the table manner, the writer would like to explain what have learned from the
table manner tour. Here are several reports:

Opening

1. We are allowed to enter the room and start from right seat and positioning our body on the
seat that provided. Waiter will help us until we are in the perfect position.
2. We have to sit upright. Do not lay down our shoulder on the vertical chair because it will
look like that we are lazy. The distance of body and the table approximately one span of
hand.
3. Put our bag, wallet, or our other stuffs behind the seat.
4. Take a napkin that provided and put on our lap. If the size of napkin is too large we should
fold to be a square or tringale shape.
5. Do not panic to facing a bunch of dishes. Usually, they were arranged based on order of the
menu. Keep in mind that we have to use dishes from outside until inside.
6. If we are eating in restaurant, allowed to enjoy the food directly that provided but if we are
in someone party, we have to wait until the host enjoying and asking us to enjoy together.

Menu

1. Amuse Bouche (Welcoming Soft Roll with Butter Unsulted)


2. Appetizer: Fresh Gardian Salad (Assorted Leafs, Tomato, Onion with Vinaigrette)
3. Soup: Sweet Corn Cream Soup
4. Maincourse: Sheared Roll Beef BBQ(Beef, Potato Crocket and Vegetables)
5. Desert: Double Chocolate Cake with Mix Berry Coulis
6. Coffe or Tea

Do’s

1. Sit properly (and straight) in your chair


2. Talk about pleasant things
3. Place your napkin on your lap
4. Wait until everyone is seated before starting to eat
5. Watch others, or ask, if you're not sure how to eat something
6. Ask someone to pass the food, rather than reach across the table
7. Chew with your mouth closed
8. Don't talk with your mouth full
9. Use a knife and fork to cut your meat
10. Say "excuse me" or "I'm sorry" if you burp
11. Say "no thank you" if you don't want a certain dish or are full
12. Say "may I please be excused" before leaving the table
Don’ts

1. Don't talk about gross things


2. Don't ask for seconds before others have had firsts
3. Don't take more than your fair share
4. Don't overload your fork or plate
5. Don't gobble your food
6. Don't chew with your mouth open
7. Don't talk with your mouth full
8. Don't play at the table
9. Don't hum or sing at the table
10. Don't tip your chair or lean on the table
11. Don't eat with or lick your fingers
12. Don't push your plate away when you're finished

Comment and Suggestion


1. It takes a lot of time to wait their preparations until the table manner begins.
2. They were not showed us behind the kitchen or process cooking.
3. All foods were not as good as the writer’s expectation.
4. There were several staffs that not really kind.
