ADMISSION  PROCEDURE  2017  
BACHELOR  OF  ARTS  (BA)  -­‐  MASS  COMMUNICATION  
INTRODUCTION:  

The  Times  of  India  Group  is  India’s  largest  and  oldest  media  entity,  with  a  175-­‐year  legacy

education   infrastructure,   and   building   on   our   rich   legacy,   the   Group   has   set   up   Bennett  
University,   in   Greater   Noida.  The   University   will   provide   its   students   a   premium   learning  
experience   supported   by   research-­‐driven   faculty,   global   academic   partnerships   and   a   well-­‐
rounded  industry-­‐centric  curriculum,  preparing  them  to  compete  and  prosper  in  a  rapidly  
transforming  world.  
The   University   has   been   established   under   Uttar   Pradesh   Act   number   24   of   2016.       The  
same  has  been  gazette  notified  by  the  Government  of  Uttar  Pradesh  Vide  No  1042/79-­‐V-­‐1-­‐
16-­‐1(Ka)  25-­‐2016  Dated  16  Sep,  2016.  
Bennett  University  is  located  in  Greater  Noida,  less  than  an  hour’s  drive  from  South  Delhi.  
When   fully   operational,   the   expansive   68-­‐acre   campus   will   accommodate   over   13,000  
students.  Designed  by  the  renowned  Singapore-­‐based  RSP  Architects,  Bennett  University’s  
sprawling   campus   is   visualized   as   a   modern,   user-­‐centric,   functional   space,   enabling   an  
immersive  and  comprehensive  learning  experience.  

GENERAL  INSTRUCTIONS:    

Please  carefully  note  the  following  before  filling  the  application  form:  
1. Total  Number  of  seats  available  for  the  program:  30.  
2. A  candidate  with  10+2  level  qualification  in  any  stream  can  apply.    
3. The   forms   for   BA   (Mass   Communication)   Program   are   not   available   at   the   bank  
branches.    
4. Merely  filling  an  application  form  does  not  entitle  the  candidate  for  the  admission.  The  
admission   is   purely   merit   based.   No   refund   of   application   fee   is   entitled,   in   case  
candidate  fails  to  qualify  in  the  merit  list.  
5. Non  submission  of  10+2  marks,  to  the  University,  before  last  date  of  application  shall  
debar  a  candidate  from  being  considered  for  merit.  

ELIGIBILITY  CRITERIA:  
6. The   candidate   must   obtain   minimum   of   60%   aggregate   marks   in   10+2   or   equivalent  
examination  in  any  discipline.    
7. The  10+2  examination  must  be  passed  in  2015,  2016  or  2017.  Those  appearing  in  10+2  
Examination   in   2017   must   produce   the   original   copies   of   results   latest   by   30  
September  2017.  All  candidates  who  are  offered  provisional  admission  will  be  required  
to  produce  proof  of  having  passed  the  qualifying  examination  (10+2  or  equivalent)  to  
the   University   authorities   during   document   inspection   at   the   time   of   registration,  
failing   which,   such   provisional   admission   will   stand   cancelled.   If   the   results   of   10+2  
examinations  are  likely  to  be  declared  after  15  July,  2017,  the  candidates  are  advised  
to   seek   admission   next   year.   No   representations   for   extension   of   dates   shall   be  
entertained.  
8. Criteria  for  Date  of  Birth  
Candidates   whose   date   of   birth   falls   on   or   after   October,   1996   (Date   of   Birth   as  
recorded  in  the  High  School/Secondary  Education  Board/University  Certificate  only  will  
be  taken  as  authentic)  are  only  eligible  to  apply  for  admission.  
9. General  Instructions  on  conditions  of  Eligibility  
(a) Candidates  must  produce  certificate  of  proof  of  the  above  conditions  at  the  time  
of  Personal  Interview  (If  short  listed)  failing  which,  they  will  be  disqualified.  
(b)  If   an   applicant   is   found   ineligible   even   at   a   later   date   after   admission   in   the  
University,  his/her  admission  will  stand  cancelled.  All  admissions  will  be  subject  to  
verification   of   facts   from   the   original   certificates/   documents   of   the   candidates.  
The  decision  of  the  Admission  Committee  of  the  University  regarding  the  eligibility  
of  any  applicant  shall  be  final.  

PROCESS  FOR  ADMISSION:    


10. The  admission  process  shall  involve  the  following:  
(a) Registration  of  candidature  by  filling  online  application  or  sending  the  hard  copy  
of  downloaded/purchased  application  form.  The  candidate  may  fill  the  application  
form   without   waiting   for   the   results   of   10+2   Examination.   However,   it   is   essential  
for   the   candidate   to   provide   the   marks   of   10+2   examination   to   the   University  
immediately,   after   declaration   of   results.   These   marks   may   be   filled   online   or  
candidate   may   provide   the   score   cards   to   admission   office   before   last   date   of  
application  process.  Further,  the  candidate  has  to  produce  the  original  score  card  
of   10+2   exam   results   at   the   time   of   document   verification   during   registration  
process.  
(b) The   applicants   shall   be   shortlisted   based   on   the   aggregate   percentage   of   marks   in  
10+2  examination.  
(c) The   Shortlisted   candidates   shall   be   called   for   Personal   Interview   (PI).   The   Final  
merit  shall  be  drawn  based  on  the  performance  in  PI  and  10+2  marks.  
(d) Subsequent  rounds  of  admissions,  if  required,  shall  be  announced  later.  

APPLICATION  PROCESS:  
11. How   to   obtain   and   Fill   the   Application   Form:   The   students   may   fill   the   application  
forms  in  any  of  the  following  ways.    
(a)   Obtain   application   form   and   brochure   from   the   University   office   by   cash   payment  
of   Rs   1000/-­‐or   sending   a   bank   draft   of   Rs.   1000/-­‐   favoring   Bennett   University,  
payable  at  Noida/Greater  Noida.  
(b)   Apply   on   line   using   net   banking/credit/debit   card   /   opting   to   make   payment  
through   bank   draft   on   web   site   http://www.getadmissions.com/bennett.   The  
same  can  also  be  accessed  through  University  web  site.    
(c)   Download  the  application  form  from  the  University  Web  site.  
12. Cost  of  Form:  Rs  1000/-­‐  
 
13. Where  to  send.    The  completed  Application  Form,  whether  purchased/down  loaded  or  
print  out  of  the  on  line  application  must  be  sent  to  the  following  address:

14. Apply   Online   (Using   net   banking/Credit/Debit   Card/Bank   Draft   option).   After   filling  
the  on–line  application  the  candidate  must  take  a  print  out  of  same  and  post  it  to  the  
address  given  above.  
(a) Log  on  to  www.bennettuniversity.com  and  click  on  Admission  >>  BA-­‐Mass  Comm  
admissions   or   directly   log   on   to   www.getadmissions.com/bennett   (authorized  
agency  for  online  application).  
(b) Thereafter,  the  candidate  will  be  prompted  to  fill  up  the  application  and  make  the  
payment  through  credit/debit  card/net  banking/fill  the  details  of  the  Bank  Draft.  
(c) On  successful  completion  of  application  form  and  on  line  payment,  the  candidate  
shall  be  allotted  a  Unique  Application  ID  number,  which  must  be  saved  for  future  
reference.  The  candidate  shall  also  get  confirmation  of  same  through  an  E  Mail.  
(d) There  is  an  option  of  uploading  the  photograph  online  itself.    
(e) Do  not  send  the  application  without  Unique  ID  number,  which  would  have  been  
generated  automatically  after  making  the  payment.    
(f) Send  one  print  out  of  the  on  line  application  to  the  address  given  above.  In  case  
the   candidate   is   not   able   to   upload   the   photograph,   then   he/she   should   affix  
recent   colored   passport   size   photograph   on   the   print   out,   before   sending   it   to  
admission   section.   Write   “ONLINE   APPLICATION-­‐   BA-­‐MASS   COMM”   on   the  
envelope,  before  posting.  In  case  application  has  been  filled  using  the  bank  draft  
option,  do  not  forget  to  send  the  Bank  Draft  also  along  with  the  print  out.  
(g) The  candidate  should  make  a  photocopy  and  retain  it  for  records.  
15. Apply   through   hard   copy   of   application:   Downloaded   from   web   site/Purchased   from  
office.  
(a) Fill   the   application   form   and   affix   a   recent   colored   photograph   at   appropriate  
place.  
(b) Those   who   have   downloaded   the   form   from   web   site   must   attach   a   demand   draft  
of  Rs.  1000/-­‐  favoring  Bennett  University,  payable  at  Noida/Greater  Noida.  Those  
who  purchase  the  application  form  need  not  attach  the  bank  draft.  
(c) Post  the  application  on  the  above  mentioned  address.  
16. Important  to  note  before  submission  of  Application  Form.  
(a) Candidates   who   procure   the   brochure   and   application   form   after   payment   of   Rs  
1000/-­‐,   are   not   required   to   make   any   further   payment,   while   submitting   the  
application  form.  
(b) Last  date  of  application  -­‐  30  May,  2017.    
(c) Applications  received  after  the  last  date  will  not  be  accepted  and  candidate  shall  
have     no  claim  for  the  Merit  List.  
(d) Display   of   Application   Status:   The   information   about   receipt   of   the   Application  
Forms   in   the   University   shall   be   done   in   a   phased   manner   on   the   web   site.  
Therefore,  the  candidates  are  required  to  view  the  same  frequently  for  the  latest  
information   and   also   required   to   take   the   necessary   action   as   per   the   information  
hosted  on  the  website  from  time  to  time.  
(e) Non  receipt  of  application  is  responsibility  of  the  candidate.    
(f) Candidates   are   also   advised   to   keep   the   original   receipt   of   the   Speed   Post   /  
Registered   Post   issued   by   the   post   office   and   the   photocopy   of   the   filled   in  
Application  Form.  In  any     case,   all   issues   regarding   non   receipt   of   application  
form   must   be   resolved   before   declaration   of   merit.   No   appeals   thereafter   are  
acceptable.  
(g) Photocopies   of   10th   (essential)   &   12th   standard   mark   sheets,   (if   results   have   been  
announced)  must  be  sent  along  with  the  application  forms.  

MERIT  LIST  AND  ADMISSION  OFFERS/ALLOCATION  OF  SEATS:    


17. Eligibility   for   Merit   -­‐   Candidates   shall   be   considered   for   meriting   process,   only   after  
they  meet  all  of  the  following  criteria:  
(a) Those  who  apply  in  the  prescribed  application  form  /  apply  online.    
(b) Those  whose  applications  are  found  valid.  
(c) The  applications  are  received  before  the  due  date.  
(d) Those  who  fulfill  the  eligibility  criteria.  
(e) Where  the  applicants  provide  the  10+2  marks  before  the  last  date  of  application.  
18. Drawing  the  Merit  Lists  and  Admission  Offers  
(a) The   valid   applications   received   shall   be   shortlisted   /merited   based   on   the  
aggregate  percentage  of  marks  in  10+2  examination.    
(b) The  merit  list  for  SC/ST  candidates  and  those  belonging  to  the  state  of  J&K  shall  
be   made   by   applying   the   cut   off   10%   below   the   merited   marks   of   the  
unreserved  category.  
(c) Sort  listed  candidates  shall  be  called  for  the  PI  as  per  schedule  to  be  announced  
and  intimated  to  the  candidates  on  the  web  site/individual  e  mails.  
(d)  The   Final   merit   shall   be   drawn   based   on   the   performance   in   PI   and   10+2  
marks.  
(e) Merit  list  shall  be  loaded  on  the  websites.  It  is  responsibility  of  the  candidate  to  
check   the   web   site   for   merit   lists.   In   addition,   the   candidates   shall   also   be  
informed  through  emails.  Ignorance  shall  not  be  accepted  as  an  excuse.    
(f) The   candidates   who   qualify   for   the   admission   based   on   merit   shall   be   issued  
Provisional  Admission  Offer  letters,  subject  to  their  paying  the  required  fee  and  
document  verification.  
(g) Candidates  whose  names  appear  on  the  merit  list  displayed  on  the  website,  but  
who   do   not   receive   the   written   communication   for   admission   must  
immediately  contact  at  mail  ID:  aradhana.goyal@bennett.edu.in  

SCHEDULE  OF  ADMISSION:  


19. Tentative  time  schedule  for  meriting  and  offer  letters  is  as  below:  
(a) Last  date  of  receipt  of  applications     -­‐by  30  May,  2017.    
(b) Provision  of  10+2  marks  by  students       -­‐latest  by  06  June  2017.  
  (May  fill  on  line  or  provide  hard  copy)  
(c) Personal  Interviews  for  Shortlisted  Candidates       -­‐  between  10-­‐15  June  2017  
(d) Merit  List  and  admission  offers         -­‐by  16  June  2017.  
(e) Fee  payment  and  confirmation  of  admission     -­‐by  24  June  2017  
(f) Commencement  of  classes         -­‐tentatively  Mid  July  2017.    
 
 
FEE  STRUCTURE:  

20. The  tuition,  hostel  and  other  fee  for  the  students  being  admitted  to  integrated  BBA-­‐
LLB  program  during  Academic  Session  2017-­‐18  is  as  follows:-­‐

@        Hostel   accommodation   will   be   provided   to   all   students.   Given   the   rigor   of   the  
program   including   class   room   work,   it   is   essential   that   all   students   avail   of   the  
hostel  facilities.

    The  fee  structure  may  be  revised  by  the  management  from  time  to  time.    
 

21. Few   seats   are   available   in   the   program   under   NRI/NRI   SPONSORED/FOREIGN  
NATIONAL  Category  Seats;  where  in  the  Fee  shall  be  US$  5000  per  annum.   In  addition  
to  above,  candidates  shall  be  required  to  pay:  

(i)   One  time  nonrefundable  registration  fee  of  INR  30,000/.  

(II)   One  time  security  deposit  (refundable)  INR  10,000/-­‐.  

(iii)   Hostel  charges  including  Boarding,  Lodging  &  Laundry  shall  be  US$  1500  or  INR  one  Lac  
per  Annum.    
 
Note:    
22. Ragging  is  banned  in  the  University.  Any  student  indulging  in  ragging  shall  be  liable  
for   disciplinary   action;   including   expulsion   from   the   University.   The   University  
complies   with   the   policy   of   the   Government   regarding   reservation   of   SC/ST  
candidates   as   applicable   for   private   un-­‐   aided   Universities.   Two   seats   under  
supernumerary  quota  are  reserved  for  the  eligible  students  from  J&K.
