9.1 Risk Assessment Process Summary

9.1.1 The already submitted HSE Project Management Plan constitutes the overall mechanism for
the risk management processes of the Project.
9.1.2 Processes are implemented at the earliest stages within the project cycle, identifying risk and
facilitating opportunity for the application of appropriate mitigation strategies.
9.1 .3 As an integral part of the planning process, prior to the commencement of any operational
activity, a suitable and sufficient specific assessment of the risks associated with the works
should be undertaken.

9.2 Risk Assessments:

9.2.1 A variety of mechanisms, such as method statement briefings, tool box talks, STARRT will be
implemented to ensure all relevant personnel are appropriately informed
9.2.2 In addition to their safety induction received at their arrival on site, all the workers will have a
toolbox meeting in order to be briefed about the risks of their specific work task, prior to start
of works
9.2.3 The hazards associated with this task have been highlighted within the Task Risk
Assessment analysis.
9.2.4 The Risk Register will form the basis of the Task Risk Assessment to be conducted prior to
the commencement of works, this can be conducted during, and form part of, the pre-work
notification.
9.2.5 The Task Risk Assessment will be conducted in order to highlight any additional hazards
(and the required control measures) associated with the specific elements of the task
including, but not limited to location of the works, other personnel, tradesmen, contractors
etc. in the vicinity, any restrictions for access/egress, material routes, rescue etc. or
adaptation of the proposed methods
9.2.6 The Task Risk Assessment will be conducted by the task Supervisor/Foreman or Engineer
and the Safety Officer assigned to the immediate area of the proposed works. The document
will form the basis of the STARRT or Toolbox Talks for the duration of the task
9.2.7 The Task Risk Assessment will be a "living" document which should be checked on a regular
