METHODOLOGY

Qualitative research describes the experience and focuses on the emotional, social, intellectual
and spiritual well-being of people (Hays, & Minichiello 2005). Qualitative research analyses data from
direct fieldwork observations, in-depth, open-ended interviews, and written documents. Qualitative
researchers engage in naturalistic inquiry, studying real-world settings inductively to generate rich
narrative descriptions and construct case studies (Patton 2005). Qualitative research is more suitable to
use because it focuses on how people feel; what they think and why they make certain choices. It is also
appropriate to use because it is direct one-to-one interviews allowing to engage and talk to more openly
about their opinions that will be beneficial to the researchers in terms of gathering the information
needed.

Selection and Study Site

The persons who were considered as the selection for this study who will get invloved are those
businessmen and women. Business persons who are going on a business trip or business travel with such
great experiences. Thirteen business persons are needed to be inyerviewed to be able to them at the most
convenient time so the researchers will be able to send a message through mail asking for the schedule to
conduct the interview. Most of the part of the selection will be those who are involved in Networking
since networking is one of the careers that are quite mobil.
Secondary selections, also classified as the validators, were the people having a lot of experiences
long enough to have atleast three to five years of experience when it comes to travelling because of
business progressions. The researchers have chosen three validators coming from NWorld, also one of the
networking businesses, whom will be able to give more expanded ideas that can give such great help in
the study.
Data Gathering Tool
An aide memoire generally refers to a document that is produced to summarise key findings and
importance recommendation of an evaluation. We used experience, layer and respondents to form a
working definition in order to form a priori codes these codes are; opportunities to learn, it serves as an
avenue for businessmen and women to gain more knowledge that will be helpful in terms of improving
their business. This were crossed referenced to the SOP in order to form out interview questions. With
that our interview question was formed; “What is it about your progression on business which allows you
to travel”, “What are these realizations you’re had and how where you able to use this in life?”, and
“Does business travels enlighten you to become a more effective rational decision maker? Why?”. During
the interview some of the researchers were taking down notes a basis for us in making our conclusions
and some researchers doing the interview.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers use the interview as a tool for gathering data. The chosen selections will be
students from the University of the Cordilleras particularly those who have experienced business travels
due to their sideline. Before conducting the interview, the very first thing we need to do is prepare the
guide questions. These questions should be able to provide the answers we need. The guide questions will
be verbally executed since qualitative research is more of the experience. When the guide questions are
verbally executed, the interviewee would feel the experience again. Recorders will be use to store the
information from the interview because the researchers don't want the interviewee not to be comfortable
when cameras are focused on them. The selections will most probably be located at Baguio areas so we
can easily access with them and most especially, the reason why businessmen and women from Baguio
City were chosen so that residents from the said location will be the primary beneficiary of the findings
that the researchers have gather. Next, the planning of exact place and time for the interview is also
needed. The researchers will gather informations in terms of the vacant time of the selections as well as
the validators so that there would not be any conflicts about the scheduling of the interview. Then,
practicing the communication skills of the interviewer is also one of the important aspect in the prepartion
before the interview. In case the main questions need support to be answered clearly and properly by the
interviewee, then prepare follow up questions. Lastly, prepare the researchers themselves to have pleasing
personality so that the selection will be comfortable to communicate with the researchers.
The selections will be interviewed alone so that researchers can focus on their answers. Aside
from requesting for a limited time since the selection might be very busy, there is no other demands. Most
probably the researchers would expect that not all the selection would be available at the same time since
the researchers know that they have things to prioritize but the researchers will make adjustments. Second
set of interview will be provided for those who were not available in the first interview.
After the interview, the researchers will express gratitude to the interviewee by thanking them
and giving them token of gratitude since the researchers know that businessman or businesswoman's time
is precious. Then, gather all the information the researchers need for the study. Organize and summarize
the information. After that, finalize all the information gathered and prepare it for the Findings and
Discussion.

Treatment of the Data

Repertory Grid is devised by George Kelly as a method fpr exploring personal construct systems.
It is an attempt to stand in other's shoes, to see their world as they see it, and to understand their situation
and their concerns (Fransella, Bell, & Banister 2004). The repertory grid technique is a phenomenological
approach which sits more with grounded theory. (Edward, H.M. 2009) This grid was constructed to
enable the researchers to observe both warm and cool analyses. The cool analysis part consists of the
identification of the significant statements or verbalizations of each respondent. These statements serve as
the basis for the conduct of warm analysis stage where data categories were formulated and themes
evolved. Reading and re-reading of the signing statements and the researchers’ constant vigilance
facilitated the surfacing of the essence of the phenomenon. (De Guzman, A. B., & Tan, E. B. 2007).
