DISCUSSION

From the course work which is build the formwork for the pad footing that has been
conducted, the equipment that has been involved in this work is hammer, wood cutting machines
and etc. This work is conducted to give the shape for the structure after concreting. Formwork
can be categorized in a few type such as timber, steel and aluminum. But in this case the material
that has been used for the formwork is timber.

In this coursework, we can discuss that there has a few of challenge to get the job done.
For example is the measurement for the wood for the formwork is a little bit big from the
measurement from plan. To solve this problem, we have to cut the wood again to get the
measurement as in plan. Because of this reason also, the time for us to finish this work is longer
than expected.

To avoid the same mistake from happening again, the measurement work at the
beginning must be done properly so that we do not have to do the work repeatedly and can
reduce the time involved.
CONCLUSION

As a conclusion, we can conclude that the formwork stage is one of the important stage in
the construction process. That is because, to get the structure as in plan, formwork must be done
first to get the shape of the structure.

Formwork should be made with good quality and constructed properly. That is because if
it made with good quality and constructed properly, the result that we will get also good quality.
But in selecting the material that will be used for the formwork actually depend to the nature of
construction, availability and cost of material which cost is the more important things for
construction companies. Usually the material that has been used for the construction is timber
because this material is cheap, easy available and can reused it many times.

Some construction company will use the steel as a material for formwork but this
material is a bit expensive and only a big construction company only afford to use this material.
For small construction company they tend to use the timber to reduce the cost.
