DRILLING BRIEFING
1. Welcome New Arrival to APOS-Rig #01
A. My name is ________________________ and I am the Rig Safety Officer, on behalf of the
company, we would like to say come to APOS-Rig #01
B. The Man in charge is ___________________________ (Rig Supt.)
C. The Company Man is ___________________________. I will introduce you to them after this Safety briefing
D. Ask them if they are taking any prescription drugs or have any medical conditions?
2. Brief Description of Activities – Highlight any hazardous operations
A. Our operation status ________________________ (Exc.: Rig up, Running casing, Tubing job or etc.)
B. The Crewman have worked ___________ Days Without a Lost Time Accident.
C. Safety is our number 1 Priority – Please make Safety your number 1 Priority also.
3. Explain the Basic Safety Policies
A. While onboard you are required to follow all of our Safety Policies (No Drugs and alcohol, seat
belt use during driving and right to STOP unsafe things).
B. At all times outside of the accommodations you are required to wear your hardhat, safety
glasses, and steel-toed safety boots. If you do not have this PPE, please tell me.
C. Additional PPE such as safety harness, goggles, face shield, ear protection must be worn for
other specific jobs and can be found in designated areas of the _________________ (exc.: mixing
and engine room)
D. SMOKING IS PROHIBITED anywhere outside of the office or inside of accommodations.
E. The area is the Non Smoking except Smoking is ALLOWED ONLY in the smoking area which
design in special area.
F. Do not bring hand phone and pressure lighter to rig, report and give the radio operator to keep it.
G. All Personnel Onboard are required to attend pre-tour, the safety meeting and emergency drills.
H. The permit to work system requires you to obtain a work permit for all hot work, non-routine
hazardous jobs, tank entry, and electric, rigging up 3rd party equipment, etc. Contact the Safety
Officer or Rig Superintendent regarding work permits.
I. Report any unsafe finding you observe, immediately to a Supervisor.
4. Emergency Procedures
A. To be prepared for emergencies you must know – understand Emergency Procedures
B. Please READ THE SAFETY INSTRUCTION poster near your work place or cabin.
This will inform you of your responsibilities in an Emergency Situation.
C. You must know the Emergency Alarm Signals – They are:
1. Fire or General Alarm – Intermittent Ringing of Alarm Bell
2. Abandon Ship Alarm – Steady Ringing Alarm Bell
3. H2S Gas Alarm – High Pitched, 2 Tone Electronic Alarm
4. All Clear Signal – 3 Short Rings of Alarm Bells
All alarm are accompanied by a PA Announcement describing the Emergency or Drill
Listen carefully to all PA Announcements to understand the nature of alarm
a. Upon hearing the Emergency Alarm go immediately to your Emergency Muster Point as
described in the SAFETY INSTRUCTION.
b. Emergency Drills are held random weekly and you are expected to participate.
c. You must wear full clothing and basic PPE during Emergency Drills
5. Tour of The Drilling Location/ Muster Station and/ H2S Muster Station
Take the New Arrivals to their Muster Station and describe the T-Card System
6. Ask the New Arrivals if they have any questions
7. Introduce the New Arrivals to the Rig Superintendent and Company Man
