FINAL TEACHING DEMONSTRATION

LESSON PLAN (G9-SCIENCE)

Student Teacher Aries B. Pascua

Critic Teacher Sir Dan O. Gutierrez
Grade Level & Section Time Date

Grade 9 – Magnesium 10:20 - 11:20 am March 19, 2019

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

a. describe the transformations of energy;

b. construct a flow map about energy transformations; and
c. cite an example that shows transformation of energy.

II. CONTENT
a. Topic: ENERGY TRANSFORMATIONS
b. Learning References: Grade 9 Science: Teacher’s Guide, pp. 192-193
Grade 9 Science: Learner’s Material, pp. 281-284
c. Materials: Visual Aids, PowerPoint presentation, Projector, Manila paper, and Pentelpen.

III. PREPARATION
a. Greetings
b. Cleanliness Check
c. Attendance Check

a. Elicit
Ask students the following question:

Have you experience being grounded in an electric wire? Have you seen an airplane flying
with full of military bombs? How about ringing fire alarm while there is a fire?
To answer the questions, we must have sufficient idea about energy transformations.

b. Engage
Recall:

To test student’s background knowledge, allow them to determine the different types of
energy presents in the slides.
1. Ask students what energy is presented in the picture.
2. Let other students participate by asking if it is correct.

Motivation:
Do the game “4 pics 1 word”. Show pictures and ask students the appropriate word for it. Try it
also with another picture then ask students to combine those 2 words formed.
The answer should be “ENERGY TRANSFORMATION”.

IV. DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON

c. Explore

 Teacher Activity  Student Activity

Call one student and ask what is energy Student will define energy transformations based
transformations? on his understanding.

Allow students to watch the video about energy

transformation.

Explain the definition of energy transformations Students will have an idea regarding energy
and give examples of it. transformations because of the example.
(Group Activity) Time allotted: 20 mins (5 groups)

What to do:
“Construct a flow map showing the flow Students will go to their designated group.
of energy transformations based on the
pictures taken”.
Students will participate in the group activity and
Let students illustrate the pictures with an arrow collaborate ideas to each other.
for the flow of energy transformations.
A volunteer student will present the output.

d. Explain

Discuss the main topic:

 According to Law of Conservation of Let students give examples of energy that

different forms of energy.

 Discuss that in every energy transfer, Students shall relate that every object has a

 Give examples of energy

transformations taking place in
Electrical energy.

 Engage students to recite for the

following energy transformations Students will recite the correct energy
examples. transformations from input to output.
e. Elaborate
Expand the discussion about energy
transformations by:

a. Asking students to cite an example Students will recite examples of transformations

that shows transformations of of energy taking place in everyday living.
