Clinical Trials
www.corengi.com simplifies the clinical trial selection process; enables type 2 diabetes patients to
learn which trials are right for them.
Seattle, WA, October 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Corengi, Inc. today announced it has launched a new web
site - www.corengi.com - to help type 2 diabetes patients find clinical trials. The free online tool asks
patients a few simple questions about their condition, including weight, blood sugar, and medications, to
help them identify which ongoing clinical trials may be appropriate for them. According to the Center for
Disease Control and Prevention, 23.6 million Americans (or 7.8 percent of the population) have diabetes,
of which between 90 and 95 percent have type 2. Currently, the main online sources of type 2 diabetes
clinical trial information are either incomplete, confusing, or both. With its comprehensive listing of all
ongoing type 2 diabetes clinical trials in the U.S. (almost 400, 115 of which were launched since early
2010), Corengi simplifies the process of clinical trial selection for patients, and helps them quickly
understand which clinical trials might be suitable.
A patient will only qualify to participate in a small percentage of these trials. Corengi gathers answers to
a set of key questions needed to identify which clinical trials are appropriate for each patient and matches
patients with the right clinical trial options.
“We recently surveyed 145 diabetes patients who had previously participated in a clinical trial,” explains
Ryan Luce, co-founder of Corengi. “The vast majority of respondents (88 percent) indicated that they
would recommend other diabetes patients to look into clinical trials. Corengi hopes to provide a simple
way for type 2 diabetes patients to explore that option further.”
The American Diabetes Association endorses the multiple benefits of clinical trials: “A trial might be the
only way to obtain a new cutting-edge drug or procedure, and patients on trials often receive free expert
advice about taking care of their diabetes. Finally, there is the satisfaction of knowing that because of
your efforts, we will better understand diabetes, and you will have contributed in a real way to making
diabetes a thing of the past.” (source:
