REGULALTIONS

1. The Bachelor in Science in Information Technology & Management (Bsc.ITM), a three

year professional Degree courses, shall have six semesters. Each year is having two
semesters.
2. Subjects in the Course
During the course a student has to take the following papers involving marks as given
Semester I : (5 theory &2 practical papers) 7 Papers 650 marks
Semester II : (5 theory &2 practical papers) 7 Papers 650 marks
Semester III : (5 theory &2 practical papers) 7 Papers 650 marks
Semester IV : (5 theory &2 practical papers) 7 Papers 650 marks
Semester V : (3 theory &2 practical papers) 5 Papers 450 marks
Semester VI : (3 theory &1 practical papers) 4 Papers 450 marks

Total 37 Papers 3500 marks

All the papers will be compulsory.
3. Eligibility Criteria for Admission
The candidate should have passed +2 Examination of C.H.S.E., Orissa or its equivalent in
any discipline. The selection would be based on the career and written test on 50-50
basis.
4. Attendance
A student has to attend a minimum of 75% of classes in a Semester to be permitted to sit
for the end-semester examination. However, a student with 60% of attendance would be
permitted with submission of a medical certificate. In case a candidate is unable to
acquire the stipulated attendance at the end of any semester, he/she shall not be allowed
to take the end semester examination. The candidate shall have to take re-admission in
the concerned semester and acquire minimum stipulated attendance to be eligible for
taking the examination.
5. Classes
There will be approximately 45 hours of classes for each 100 marks paper in a semester.
6. Examination
A theory paper having theory examination shall consist of two components
Components Weight age

(i) Mid-Semester Exam. 20%

(ii) End-Semester Exam. 80%

The papers having practical examinations shall consist of three components as:
(i) Viva-voce 26%
(ii) Practical Exam. 54%
(iii) Record 20%

Each candidate has to secure at least 35% marks both in theory and practical separately to
pass the paper and 50% in aggregate in order to pass the examination. The class will be
awarded on the average performance of six semesters for Bsc.ITM.
For Bsc. ITM
50% up but less than 60% 2nd Class
60% and above 1st Class

There shall be no provision for third class. A student securing less than 40% in any paper
shall be required to sit for the said paper twice within two consecutive next end-term
examinations. However if a candidate has failed in aggregate, he shall have the option of
appearing either in all papers or in specified paper (s) of his/her choice. The candidates
failing to appear at mid-term test due to medical reasons only are required to submit
Medical Certificate on the date of the test. However, he has to appear at Mid-term test
before the commencement of the end-term test in the same semester. This would be held
once only. His class test and Mid-term marks will however remain valid.

Special Examination:
If he fails to clear the papers, in two repeat chances he has to sit in the special
examinations (one chance). In that case his previous Mid-term class test and End-term
marks of all papers in that semester will be cancelled. He will have to appear at all
components (class test, midterm test and end term test) of all the papers in that semester.
No more chance will be allowed to a student if he fails in the special examination. His
studentship will be cancelled.
Hard Case Rule: A case will be treated as hard case, if a candidate in a semester fulfills
any of the following cases:
a) The aggregate falls short of 50% by a maximum of 4 marks and the candidate has
passed in all the papers.
b) The aggregate is short by a maximum of 4 marks and failed in up to three papers by a
maximum of 4 marks in three papers taken together.
c) There is failure in a maximum of three subjects by not exceeding 4 marks taken
together having passed in the aggregate.
The hard case will be resolved by awarding extra marks to the tune of short fall in
appropriate papers and accordingly revising the aggregate. When the aggregate only falls
short, the extra marks to the extent of shortfall will be added to the paper in which the
candidate has secured the highest mark.
7. Evaluation process
(i) Valuation System
The semester system of examination will have internal system of valuation with
Conducting Board Constituted by the Teachers’ Council.
(ii) Mid. Semester Examination
The duration will be of one hour and maximum marks 20 for a 100 marks paper. The
concerned faculty member should ensure that the coverage prior to mid-term examination
is minimum first and second unit of the paper and the questions will be set from the
covered units. The questions will be set in such a manner that to answer them knowledge
of both the units will be required. If a candidate falls to appear or falls in the mid-term
examination, with the permission of the concerned course teacher .He/she can appear at
the compensatory mid-term examination before the end semester examination. This
would be held once only.
(iii) End Semester Examination
The end semester examination will be held on consecutive days. There will be one sitting
per day. During the six semesters the duration of the examination will be three hours for a
100 marks paper. The question paper should be set in such a manner that:

a) The question paper should cover all the units.

b) Each question set carries equal marks from each & every units.

(iv) a) The questions for all the examinations including the end-term examination
shall be set by the faculty member teaching the subject in the University
Department (s).
b) The question for the end semester examination shall be set by the faculty
teaching the subject. He will be required to submit 2 sets of questions to the
Chairman of the Board of Moderators. The Moderation Board shall consist of
three members from the University Department of Computer Application as
appointed by Board of Studies. There will be two moderation Boards, i.e., one
for odd semester (1, 3, 5) and one even semesters (2, 4, and 6).

8. The regulation is subject to modification as and when necessary. The Syllabus shall
remain valid from 2012 Admission Batch onwards.

The Regulation will supersede all previous regulations.

Bsc.ITM SYLLABUS
(Effective from 2014- 2015 Session)

There shall be 3 hours of lectures for each theory paper and 6hours of lab work for each practical
paper per week with about 45hours of lecturer for each theory paper in a semester.
