As seen in the picture below the blue holes at the front of the Itron meter can be unscrewed and
a wire pushed through. We will be using the rightmost hole on the meter, so simply unscrew the
blue cap in front of the hole and push the wire you have through the newly freed hole.
After you have inserted the wire through the right most hole you will need to wire the cable as
we have shown in the picture below. The pins that need to be filled are 1,2,4 and 5, you will
need to keep track of these to wire the ISB properly

Below is an example of the ISB when connected to the Itron meter correctly.
The next step will be to wire both the ISB power and the meter power. The Image below shows
the correct way to wire the ISB, the instructions for which can be found in the Itron ISB
instruction manual. Here is what each section should look like if the manual is followed correctly.
The image below shows the the ION meter when properly configured. The first step in installing
the ION meter is to take the ION meters 6 pin connector, which should be included with the
meter. Use COM2 (the left side when the curved joints are facing down) with the shield wire
connected to the pin SH and the other two wires to the meter as shown in the examples below.
The corresponding connections between an ITRON(ISB) meter and the ION meters are as
follows:
ISB IO
N
A +
B -
The Next step will be connecting the 2 core RS485 cable to the DX3’s RS485 port with a 5 pin
connector that is supplied with the box in accordance with the table below:
Please note that for a two wire set up to work correctly, it is essential that the TX+ and
TX- are joined to RX+ and RX- respectively at the DX3 end of the RS485 connector.

After all that you should now be able to simply plug the 5 pin connector into the DX3 RS485
port.
