NEED FOR THE CENTER OF PERFORMING AND FINE ARTS


THE ART AND CULTURE OF A CITY REPRESENTS THE IDENTITY AND PERSONALITY GIVING IT AN IMAGE. THIS
AREA BEING VERY RICH IN TERMS OF ITS CULTURE , ART FORMS, DANCE , TRADITIONAL MUSICS AND ITS
UNIQUE ARCHITECTURE MUST HAVE A PLATFORM TO SHOW CASE ITS TALENTS AS WELL AS TO PASS ON
TRADITIONAL ART FORMS TO THE FUTURE GENERATIONS.

ALTHOUGH MODERNISATION IS CREEPING IT AND CITIES ARE TURNING IN URBAN SPRAWL,ONE NEEDS TO
UNDERSTAND THEIR RESPOSIBILITY TOWARDS A CITIES TRADITIONS AND ART FORMS.THIS PROJECT
COULD HELP THE PEOPLE TO NOT ONLY PURSUE THEIR HOBBIES AS THEIR CAREER BUT ALSO WILL GET A
DEGREE OUT OF IT.

PERFORMING ARTS – DRAMA AND THEATRE

INFORMATION REGARDING THE COURSE- DURATION – 2 YEAR DEGREE INTAKE – 40 STUDENTS PER BATCH

WHY DRAMA AND THEATRE? ACCORDING TO REPORTS SUBMITTED BY SIR JHONSON D COLIN, DRAMA IS NOT
JUST A WORD IT’S A FEELING OF EXCITEMENT. DRAMA HELPS IN DEVELOPING COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND
EMPATHY SKILLS. DRAMA. IT IS NOT JUST RELATED TO ACTING BUT ALSO VARIOUS THEMES RELATED TO HISTORY,
DANCE ETC. IN TODAYS WORLD THE SCOPE AND THE NEED OF DRAMA IS POSITIVELY INCREASING DAY BY DAY.

THE REASON FOR CHOOSING THIS TOPIC W.R.T. THIS AREA IS THAT, THERE ARE VERY LESS NUMBERS OF DRAMA
SCHOOL IN AND AROUND THS AREA.

SPACES REQUIRED IN DRAMA AND THEATRE INSTITUTION

1. MULTIFUNCTIONAL ROOMS (44-50 SQ.MT) – THESE ROOMS CAN BE USED AS LECTURE ROOMS OR
CLASSROOMS OR MAYBE A REHEARSAL ROOM. THEATRE REQUIRES ALOT OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL
SPACES. CAN ALSO BE USED FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SETS.

2. REHEARSAL ROOMS (25-30 SQ.MT.) – THESE ROOMS ARE SPECIFICALLY USED ONLY FOR REHEARSAL
PURPOSES. THESE ROOMS SHALL BE ACOUSTICALLY TREATED TO ENHANCE THE SOUND QUALITY.

3. OPEN/SEMI OPEN PRACTICE SPACES – SUCH SPACES ARE NEEDED BY THE STUDENTS TO PRACTICE,
LEARN, SPEND TIME ALSO TO RELEASE STRESS.

4. STORE ROOMS (15-20 SQ.MT.) – THESE ROOMS WILL BE USED TO STORE THE VARIOUS EQUIPMENTS
NEEDED FOR THEATRE. ALSO TO KEEP AND CONSTRUCT VARIOUS SETS USED DURING THE
PERFORMANCES.

5. CLASS ROOMS (30 SQ.MT.) – THESE ROOMS WILL BE USED AS LECTURE ROOMS OR CLASSROOMS

6. BLACK BOX (140-150 SQ.MT.) – THESE ROOMS WILL BE USED AS LECTURE ROOMS OR CLASSROOMS

WHY PHOTOGRAPHY? WITH THE BOOM OF THIS DIGITAL ERA ALONG WITH SOCIAL MEDIA AS AN ADD ON
PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOW THE MOST POPULAR HOBBY AMONST EVERYONE . THROUGH THIS INSTITUTION MANY
STUDENTS CAN OPT THIS HOBBY AS THEIR COURSE.

THE REASON FOR CHOOSING THIS TOPIC W.R.T. THIS AREA IS THAT, THERE ARE NO PHOTOGRAPHY SCHOOL IN AND

IDEAS TO EXECUTE IN MY DESIGN


1. TO HAVE A LOT OF OPEN SPACES SINCE BOTH THEATRE AND PHOTOGRAPHY REQUIRES OUTDOOR
SPACES TO SHOOT AND TO PRACTICE.

2. TO HAVE A LOT OF MULTIPURPOSE SPACES IN FORM OF ROOMS THAT CAN BE USED FOR
PRACTICING, FOR HOLDING WORKSHOPS, TO HAVE EVENING CLASSES, ETC

3. TO HAVE A LOT OF INTERACTIVE COUTYARDS WITH A LOT OF GREEN SPACES

4. BUILDING SHOULD BE USER FRIENDLY AND SHALL RESPOND TO THE CLIMATIC CONDITIONS OF THIS
AREA.

5. SHALL BE INCLUSIVE AND WELL THOUGHT OF.

6. SHALL HAVE PROPER SEGREGATION IN TERMS OF VISUAL CONNECTION, ENTRANCES AND


MOVEMENT BETWEEN PUBLIC, SEMI PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ZONES.
