KESANTUNAN LINGUISTIK DALAM BERBAGAI DIMENSI

This chapter talks about the dimention of Linguistic and Politeness. According to
Levinson {1992:60) there are four dementions of linguistic and politeness. The author took
some other experts’ opinion to describe the four dimentions.

Suggestion :

On this chapter the author wrote the content in Bahasa. It such a struggle for some
readers who the first language isnt Bahasa. We think it might be better if the author write the
content in English. Consider the readers might be come from other countries which Indonesia
isnt their first or second language.

Then, we also find some trouble to remember the list of experts’ point of strategy,
because the auther didnt casade it. We concur that it might be better and easier for the readers
to remember and get the point of the strategies if the author cascading it.

THE ROLE OF LINGUISTIC POLITENESS IN THE PROCESS OF DEMOCRATIZING

INDONESIA

In the post-era of reformation, the politeness of linguistics has been neglected or

bacome lack importance. This phenomenon influence by the changing of government system
to democrate. In democratic goverment, public given the right to speak up their mind as their
wish. Therefore, this might be the reason why they becoming lack awareness of linguistic
politeness.

In this study, the data was taken from the commitee (pansus) meeting on the case of
century bank. The reseach revealed there are 5 categories of struggled over the value of
linguistic occur in parlement meeting, includes; 1)minimazing conflict and confrontation, as
occur in page.65; 2) imposition, in 67 3) asserting reciprocity, in page.70; 4) claiming
common ground, in page.72 5) bringing forwards accurate arguments and data, as in page.
74.

According to boediono (vice precident of indonesia), the process of democrating

indonesia consist of four pillars includes; 1) the noise must focus on the substance of the
problem, to be accepted, 2) the goal people’s walfare; 3) the president is popular; 4) the
coalition among political parties runs effectively. However, the recent process shows some
weaknesses on tpillar number 1 and 4, which is also shown by the research.
Critic and Suggestion :

In general, this research study a very popular topic on politics and language use.
Moreover it also discusse several supportive theory on the issue. After all, this journal is so
interesting and the explation clear enough for me to understand despite the term that I am not
familiar with. Since this journal discuss old issue on politic, I think it would be so much
beneficial if there any new version of this book regarding to “fresh” issue in politics and
language. Unfortunately, there are no suggestion I can offer so far.

This article is aimed at describing Islamic ideology in the Indonesian linguistic

politeness system. The data are taken from five-session-discussion triggered by an article
titled detecting the liberal virus, then followed by four, more-focused topics derived from the
first, chronologically, cracked mirror, is islam a perfect religion? is JJ a good and true
Muslim? And breaking the chain of enmity. This is from the one of (IMSA) Indonesian
Muslim Society in America.

On this subtitle the author describes the samples mostly about politeness and impolite
utterances. For example in the session 1 there are two impolite utterances which is uttered by
D as the opposite C argument.

As a viewer we are going to give some suggestion for this subtitle such as, 1. In this
subtitle we need more islamic ideology in indonesian rather than argumentation based on the
dialogue 2. And also it has mentioned that there would be 5 session discussion that occured
for each subtitle, but as i found here only less than five discussion as mentioned.
