E. Job Set-Up
SUBTASK 940-001-A
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS IN A SAFE CONDITION BEFORE YOU DO
THE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. THIS IS TO PREVENT INJURY TO
PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

(1) Do the procedure to make the aircraft safe for maintenance (AMM TASK
20-00-00-910-801-A/200 ).

(2) Do the procedure to make the aircraft safe for maintenance of the powerplant (AMM
TASK 71-00-00-910-801-A/200 ).

(3) Connect an external pneumatic power source (GSE 209 or a GSE 210) to the aircraft
(AMM TASK 36-00-00-863-801-A/300 ). Do not start it at this moment.
SUBTASK 710-001-A
(4) To make sure that the AMS controller channels are not defective, do as follows:
(a) Connect the external AC power supply to the aircraft (AMM TASK
24-42-02-860-801-A/200 ).

(b) On the MCDU (AMM SDS 34-61-00/1 ), make sure that these circuit breakers are
closed:
• SPDA2 PWR SPLY 1-RICC (DC BUS 2)

• SPDA2 PWR SPLY 2-RICC (DC ESS BUS 2)

• SPDA2 PWR SPLY 4-LICC (DC GND SVC BUS)

• SPDA2 PWR SPLY 3-EICC (DC ESS BUS 1)

• SPDA2 DC GND SVC-LICC (DC GND SVC BUS)

(c) Do a check on the EICAS messages:


• The EICAS caution message AMS CTRL FAIL comes into view if the AMS
is totally defective.

• The EICAS advisory message AMS CTRL FAULT comes into view if
channel 1 or channel 2 is defective.

• No related EICAS message comes into view if the two AMS channels are
operational.

SUBTASK 860-001-A
(5) Make sure that the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC system is operational.
NOTE: Make sure that no related message shows on the EICAS display.

(6) Use the CCD to select the ECS synoptic page on MFD 1.

(7) Use the CCD to select the ANTI-ICE synoptic page on MFD 2.

(8) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set these
pushbuttons to the unlatched (off) position (a striped bar comes into view):
• PACK 1

• PACK 2

• BLEED 1

• BLEED 2

• BLEED APU

• RECIRC

(9) Make sure that these CAS messages do not come into view during the test:
• BLEED 1 LEAK

• BLEED 2 LEAK

• PACK 2 LEAK

• BLEED APU LEAK

• BLEED 1 FAIL

• BLEED 2 FAIL

• XBLEED FAIL

(10) Make sure that an amber striped bar does not come into view on these pushbuttons
during the test:
• BLEED 1

• BLEED 2

• BLEED APU

(11) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
XBLEED pushbutton to the latched (auto) position (the striped bar goes out of view).

F. Air Bleed System - Operational Test


SUBTASK 710-002-A
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO PERSONS OR EQUIPMENT IN THE AIR
CONDITIONING PACKS OUTLETS AREA.

(1) Do the operational test of the air bleed system, as follows:


(a) Supply external pneumatic power to the aircraft (AMM TASK 36-00-00-863-801-
A/300 ).
Result:
1 On the ECS synoptic page:
• APU valve, FCV1, FCV2, BLEED 1 valve, and BLEED 2 valve show
closed.

• XBLD valve shows open.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in white.


2 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• APU valve, BLEED 1 valve, and BLEED 2 valve show closed.

• XBLD valve shows open.


(b) Use the external pneumatic power source to start the LH engine (AMM TASK
71-00-01-910-801-A/200 ).
Result:
1 On the ECS synoptic page:
• XBLD valve shows open.

• BLEED 1 valve and BLEED 2 valve show closed.


2 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• XBLD valve shows open.

• BLEED 1 valve and BLEED 2 valve show closed.


(c) Stop the LH engine (AMM TASK 71-00-01-910-806-A/200 ).
(d) Stop the operation of the external pneumatic power source (AMM TASK
36-00-00-863-801-A/300 ).
Result:
1 On the ECS synoptic page:
• FCV1, FCV2, BLEED 1 valve, BLEED 2 valve, and XBLD valve show
closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in white.


2 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• BLEED 1 valve, BLEED 2 valve, and XBLD valve show closed.
(e) Disconnect the external pneumatic power source from the aircraft (AMM TASK
36-00-00-863-801-A/300 ).

(f) Start the APU (AMM TASK 49-10-00-910-801-A/200 ).


(g) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
BLEED APU pushbutton to the latched (auto) position:
Result:
1 On the BLEED APU pushbutton, the striped bar goes out of view.
2 The EICAS message APU BLEED VLV OPEN comes into view.
3 On the ECS synoptic page:
• FCV1, FCV2, BLEED 1 valve, and BLEED 2 valve show closed.

• APU valve and XBLD valve show open.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in white.


4 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• BLEED 1 valve and BLEED 2 valve show closed.

• APU valve and XBLD valve show open.


(h) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set these
pushbuttons as follows:
• PACK 1 - latched (auto)

• PACK 2 - latched (auto)


Result:
1 On the PACK 1 and PACK 2 pushbuttons, the striped bars go out of view.
2 On the ECS synoptic page:
• APU valve, FCV1, FCV2 and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 1 valve and BLEED 2 valve show closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in green.


3 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• APU valve and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 1 valve and BLEED 2 valve show closed.


4 Air flows through the general outlets.
(i) Use the APU bleed to start the RH engine (AMM TASK 71-00-01-910-801-A/
200 ).

Result:
1 On the ECS synoptic page:
• FCV1 and FCV2 show closed during the engine start and open after
the engine start.

• APU valve and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 1 valve and BLEED 2 valve show closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in white during the engine start
and in green after the engine start.
2 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• APU valve and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 1 valve and BLEED 2 valve show closed.


(j) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
PACK 1, PACK 2 and BLEED APU pushbutton to the unlatched (off) position.
Result:
1 On the PACK 1, PACK 2 and BLEED APU pushbuttons, a striped bar
comes into view.
2 The EICAS message APU BLEED VLV OPEN goes out of view.
3 On the ECS synoptic page:
• APU valve, FCV1, FCV2, BLEED 1 valve, BLEED 2 valve and XBLD
valve show closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in white.


4 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• APU valve, BLEED 1 valve, BLEED 2 valve and XBLD valve show
closed.
5 Airflow from general outlets stops.
(k) Stop the APU (AMM TASK 49-10-00-910-802-A/200 ).
(l) Set the right engine TL to 85% N2.
(m) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set these
pushbuttons to the latched (auto) position:
• PACK 1

• PACK 2

• BLEED 2
Result:
1 On the PACK 1, PACK 2, and BLEED 2 pushbuttons, a striped bar goes out
of view.

• FCV1, FCV2, BLEED 2 valve, and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 1 valve shows closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in green.


3 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• BLEED 2 valve and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 1 valve shows closed.


4 Air flows through the general outlets.
(n) Use the RH engine to start the LH engine (AMM TASK 71-00-01-910-803-A/
200 ).
Result:
1 The EICAS message BLEED 1 OFF comes into view.
2 On the ECS synoptic page:
• FCV1 and FCV2 show closed during the engine start and open after
the engine start.

• BLEED 2 valve and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 1 valve shows closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in white during the engine start
and in green after the engine start.
3 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• BLEED 2 and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 1 valve shows closed.


(o) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
BLEED 2 pushbutton to the unlatched (off) position:
Result:
1 On the BLEED 2 pushbutton, a striped bar comes into view.
2 The EICAS message BLEED 2 OFF comes into view.
3 On the ECS synoptic page:
• FCV1, FCV2, BLEED 1 valve, BLEED 2 valve, and XBLD valve show
closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in white.


4 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• BLEED 1 valve, BLEED 2 valve, and XBLD valve show closed.
5 Airflow from general outlets stops.
(p) Make sure that the two TLs are set at the idle position.

(q) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
BLEED 1 pushbutton to the latched (auto) position.
Result:
1 The EICAS message BLEED 1 OFF goes out of view.
2 On the BLEED 1 pushbutton, a striped bar goes out of view.
3 On the ECS synoptic page:
• FCV1, FCV2, BLEED 1 valve, and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 2 valve shows closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in green.


4 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• BLEED 1 valve and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 2 valve shows closed.


5 Air flows through the general outlets.
(r) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
BLEED 2 pushbutton to the latched (auto) position.
Result:
1 On the BLEED 2 pushbutton, a striped bar goes out of view.
2 The EICAS message BLEED 2 OFF goes out of view.
3 On the ECS synoptic page:
• FCV1, FCV2, BLEED 1 valve, and BLEED 2 valve show open.

• XBLD valve shows closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in green.


4 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• BLEED 1 valve and BLEED 2 valve show open.

• XBLD valve shows closed.


5 Air flows through the general outlets.
(s) Set the two TLs to 85% N2.
Result:
1 On the ECS synoptic page, the RH and LH bleed-pressure indications show
45 ± 5 psi.
2 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• The RH and LH bleed-pressure indications show 45 ± 5 psi.

• The RH and LH bleed-temperature indications can oscillate between


338 °F (170 °C) and 464 °F (240 °C).
(t) Set the two TLs to the idle position.

(u) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
BLEED 1 pushbutton to the unlatched (off) position. After two minutes, see the
results.
Result:
1 On the BLEED 1 pushbutton, a striped bar comes into view.
2 The EICAS message BLEED 1 OFF comes into view.
3 On the ECS synoptic page:
• FCV1, FCV2, BLEED 2 valve, and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 1 valve shows closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in green.


4 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• BLEED 2 valve and XBLD valve show open.

• BLEED 1 valve shows closed.


5 Air flows through the general outlets.
(v) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
BLEED 2 pushbutton to the unlatched (off) position. After two minutes, see the
results.
Result:
1 On the BLEED 2 pushbutton, a striped bar comes into view.
2 The EICAS message BLEED 2 OFF comes into view.
3 On the ECS synoptic page:
• FCV1, FCV2, BLEED 1 valve, BLEED 2 valve, and XBLD valve show
closed.

• PACK 1 and PACK 2 indications show in white.


4 On the ANTI-ICE synoptic page:
• BLEED 1 valve, BLEED 2 valve, and XBLD valve show closed.

NOTE: An amber "X" can show above the LH and RH EAI valve, this is a
normal condition.
5 Airflow from general outlets stops.

(2) Stop the two engines (AMM TASK 71-00-01-910-806-A/200 ).

A. General

(1) This task gives the procedure to do the operational test of the bleed pushbuttons.

(2) The bleed pushbuttons are installed on the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC
control panel, in zones 223 and 224.

(3) This maintenance technician is necessary to do this task:

(3) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set these
switches as follows:

E. Bleed Pushbutton - Operational Test


SUBTASK 870-002-A (Figure 502)
(1) Do the operational test of the BLEED1 pushbutton as follows:
WARNING: STAY AT A SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE ENGINES IN OPERATION
AND DO NOT TOUCH THE ENGINES IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEY
STOP. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, INJURIES OR
BURNS CAN OCCUR.
(a) Start the left engine (AMM TASK 71-00-01-910-801-A/200 ) and keep the TL in
the idle position.
(b) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
BLEED 1 switch to the latched (auto) position.
Result:
1 1. On the BLEED1 pushbutton, the striped bar goes out of view.
(c) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
BLEED 1 switch to the unlatched (off) position.
Result:
1 1. On the BLEED1 pushbutton, the striped bar comes into view.

2. On the ECS synoptic page, the left NAPRSOV valve shows closed.

3. The CAS message BLEED 1 OFF shows on the EICAS.


(d) Stop the left engine (AMM TASK 71-00-01-910-806-A/200 ).

(2) Do the operational test of the BLEED2 pushbutton as follows:
WARNING: STAY AT A SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE ENGINES IN OPERATION
AND DO NOT TOUCH THE ENGINES IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEY
STOP. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, INJURIES OR

BLEED 2 switch to the latched (auto) position.
Result:
1 1. On the BLEED2 pushbutton, the striped bar goes out of view.
(c) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the
BLEED 2 switch to the unlatched (off) position.
Result:
1 1. On the BLEED2 pushbutton, the striped bar comes into view.

2. On the ECS synoptic page, the right NAPRSOV valve shows closed.

3. The CAS message BLEED 2 OFF shows on the EICAS.


(d) Stop the right engine (AMM TASK 71-00-01-910-806-A/200 ).

SUBTASK 860-008-A
(1) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, make sure that
these switches are set to the unlatched (off) position (a striped bar comes into view),
as applicable:
• BLEED1

• BLEED2

(2) Disconnect the AC power supply from the aircraft (AMM TASK 24-42-02-860-802-A/
200 ).
