Cause of rising crime rate in Dhaka

Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh. It is also one of the mega cities of
the world. It is a very crowded city. Every year the population of the city is rising
higher and higher. And with the population the crime rate of the city is also
increasing. At the moment the crime rate of the city is unbearable. The main
causes of these increasing crime rates are increasing population, low education
rate and political situation.

In competition with the country population the Dhaka cities population is

also rising higher and higher day by day. As the Capital city of the country Dhaka
has always been a populace city. But in recent times people from every part of the
country are coming to Dhaka thinking that they can lead a better life here. As
Dhaka is the capital city it is thought that there is better opportunity in every
aspect of life. But because of the high population, the city cannot provide
opportunity to everyone. So many people of the society are deprived from their
basic rights. And as a result the crime rate is increasing. Because of the high
population rate there is not enough job opportunity for every people. So many
people cannot bear the cost of food and accommodation for themselves and their
families. As a result they are committing crime to get food and accommodation
for themselves and their families.

Another reason of increasing crime rate in Dhaka city is the lack of

education. Education teaches people to lead a well and balanced life. But when
people are deprived from education they commit crime. People from many rural
areas of the country come to Dhaka city in order to find work. But as they are not
educated they can not find work for themselves. As a result they are committing
crime to earn money for themselves. And also some of the rich people’s children
in the city commit crimes. They think that they have enough wealth to lead their
life well. So they don’t take their education. As a result they don’t realize the
difference between right and wrong, and they commit crime.

In recent years the most obvious reason of increasing crime rate in Dhaka
city is bad political situation. The politics of revenge is running in the city. when
one party come to power they try to take revenge on the other party. As a result
the crime rate is increasing. And also the party in power tries to take benefits
forcefully from general people. This also increases crime rates. Student politics is
also increasing in the city universities. Students from one political party try to
overpower the students of other political parties. They try to take control of halls
of the varsity. Sometimes there is clash between the same party students. As a
result the crime rate in the Dhaka city is increasing higher and higher.

Because of the increasing crime rate in Dhaka city the city is facing major
problems. The reason behind these increasing crime rates are mainly growth of
population, illiteracy and political problems. If this increasing crime rate is not
reduced now it will be impossible to stop the crimes in the near future. For these
reason, steps should be taken to stop increasing crime rate of Dhaka city.
