Answer:

I.
TEACHING - is the profession of a teacher.
-Teaching is an intended behavior which aim is to induce learning. It is the
activity of transferring of knowledge and educating the students. Teachers
created activities that impart knowledge or skills.
TESTING
It is the vital component of teaching-learning process. It is an ongoing process of
determining the effectiveness of a certain strategy or method or to assess if the
students really gain knowledge and learn something about the topic and lessons
the teachers gave to them. It involves a series of steps namely gathering,
analyzing and interpreting data. It is a continuous undertaking of the teacher
usually done before, during and after instruction.
MEASUREMENT
It is the systematic collection, quantification and ordering of information. It is the
process of determining the quantity of achievement of learners by means of
appropriate measuring instrument. It also involves series of steps.
RELIABILITY
It is one of the characteristics of a measuring instrument. Reliability refers to the
consistency of a measure. Reliability is concerned with the accuracy of the actual
measuring instrument or procedure. A test is considered reliable if we get the
same result of test scores repeatedly. For example, if a test is designed to
measure a trait then each time the test is administered to a subject, the results
should be approximately the same. And there are many ways of estimate
reliability, like the Inter-Rater Reliability, the Parallel-forms Reliability and the
Internal Consistency Reliability.

VALIDITY
Validity refers to the degree to which a study accurately reflects or
assesses the specific concept that they are attempting to measure. Validity is
concerned with the study's success at measuring what they set out to measure.
Scholars discuss several types of internal validity like the Face Validity, Criterion
Related Validity, Construct Validity, and Content Validity.
II.

 Teaching is geared to the Test

-In teaching, test is one of the important factors in assessing the student’s
knowledge. In every teaching, it always ends up to testing to know if the students
learn something from the lesson that the teacher presented.

 All tests are subjective in nature

-It is said that tests is subjective because all tests are based on the
teachers’ own choice on what to put on the tests and what kind of tests they like.
It is still the teachers’ decision on what questions to give to a certain students
and on how the students will answer those questions. They decide what
questions to ask, how to phrase questions, and what distracters to use. All these
are subjective decisions that can be biased in ways. Same with the students,
they based their answers on their own opinions and prior knowledge especially in
essays and writing tests.

 Learning, Teaching and Testing are interrelated

-Yes they are all interrelated because learning is the product of teaching
and to measure that learning we have to test it. These three are vital in the
learning process and they cannot be separated from each other.

III.
1. What actions, in what circumstances, are likely to increase the
positive and decrease the negative impact of testing on students learning?

Planning increases the positive effects of testing on students learning. The

teacher should know the types of competencies to be measured as evidence of
learning. The teacher should also consider the number of items to give to
adequately measure student’s performance and what type of assessment
instrument will best measure and evaluate the student’s performance. Unfair and
unjust assessment decreases the effect of testing on students’ learning. Like
giving tests which are not yet discussed and tests which are not part of the topic.

2. What are the implications of testing for the management of

schools?
Testing is important for the learning process. That is why schools must give
attention to the types of testing they are giving to the students. They must have
aims and goals for the students and it should also reflect on the kind of
assessment they prepare for the students. Because testing measures the
learning of the students, it reflects what kind of school you have if your students
get a failing grade.
IV.
 Multiple-Choice
One of the most commonly used item format is multiple choice. It is a
selection-type which presents students with a set of possible options from
which they are to choose the correct or the best answer. Test-makers often
promote multiple-choice tests as objective. Multiple-choice items are best
used for checking whether students have learned facts and routine
procedures that have one, clearly correct answer. It does not promote critical
thinking because students’ tend to guess the answer if they don’t know it.
 Completion

In this test you will be required to complete sentences, in each of which

one word is missing This test assesses your vocabulary as you will need to
know what the words mean in order to fill in the sentences correctly. A
sentence completion test form may be relatively short, such as those used to
assess responses to advertisements, or much longer, such as those used to
assess personality. The tests are usually administered in booklet form where
respondents complete the stems by writing words on paper.

 Pairing and matching

Matching test items, along with true-false and multiple choices are
selection items. They are specialized for use when measuring the student's
ability to identify the relationship between a set of similar items, each of
which has two components, such as words and their definitions, symbols and
their meanings, dates and events, people and their accomplishments, etc. it
consists of a series of stimuli called premises and a series of option called
responses. Matching items are used when same options are being repeated
over and over again in several multiple-choice items.
 True/false
True or false items are alternate-response items that require students to
identify statements which are correct and incorrect. It should be stated
clearly and must present only one main idea. But true or false item does not
promote critical thinking because students also tend to guess the answer.

 Rearrangement
It is specialized for the mastery of something and for the arrangements
of information. A sentence is arranged in their proper structure or a
sequence of events
