INTERVIEW TASK

English . 2018

NOVEMBER 8, 2018
NURAINI AJENG FITRIA
11181058 – DKV B
I interviewed a private driver from the owner of the rent-house that I lived in. His name is
Mr. Suhardi, or more familiarly called as Mr. Ar. He was born in Kudus, on March 25, 1940. He
was the first child on his family, made him have a very soft and loving aura. He was also known
for being very friendly and considerate, even to the person he had just met.
From Kudus, he moved to Yogyakarta in 1955. In fact, he still remembered the Asia-
Africa conference of that year. He was graduated from SR (Sekolah Rakyat) or Kokumin Gakko.
That was a school that was built in the Japan colonial period, in Kudus. And he finally began
working in Yogyakarta in 1963.
Initially, he worked as a consultant at PT A-Z starting from 1963-1992. As a result of his
royalties which deserved a thumbs up, he received a prize from the PT in the form of land and
buildings which he now lives as a place to live in the Mergangsan area.
Because of his age, he considered he could no longer carry out a job as a consultant.
Finally he chose to resign and take a break. However, not long after that, he got a job offer as a
personal driver from one of his acquaintances.
Finally, he worked as a personal driver from the owner of my rent-house from 1992 to
the present. He said, that he had twice asked to resign from this job because of the age factor and
he could no longer drive to distant areas. But the owner of my rent-house didn’t allow it because
the distance would be shortened to the Central Java region.
His wife died long ago, due to heart disease. He has 3 childrens and now has 3
grandchilds and 6 grandchildrens. Even though he was no longer young, he still looked fit and
healthy.
He said, "You come here to study with money that your father has collected with
difficulty, don't make it useless. Don't be lulled by sweet talk, don't get stuck in the wrong way. "
Not just a personal driver for the homeowners. In my opinion, he is a substitute for the
parent figure for us, young people who migrate and live in this place. Not infrequently, he gives
some important advice about life. Not only that, he is also always ready to help if we get a
problem. "All of the students who live here I consider as my own child, because I have also been
in a position that your parents feel right now. Because who knows; there, my child also gets the
same treatment and help from other people. "
