WEEK 39

Hello, this is Tim Storey and I’m really excited because God is doing some great
things. I just returned from overseas and we were just watching a video of what took
place there. God opening up deaf people’s ears, I mean, incredible stuff. Just people
that were deaf: partially deaf, completely deaf; a little girl deaf in her left ear, healed by
the power of God.

So I thank God for the School of Miracles because you guys are gonna do it too
and you’re already beginning to, it’s a step-by-step process. You know, many times
when I meet all of you from the School of Miracles, on the road; people talk about, “Tim,
I’m seeing people healed and sometimes it’s stronger than other times,” but just stay
with it. You know, we pray for people because we love ‘em. And the more you do that,
God sees your faithfulness and God will continue to answer because remember, that He
loves people and He wants to see them well.

Well, today we’re going to talk about the anointing. In year one I kept promising
that I was going to get into some powerful things in year two and I think we have but I’m
excited about the gear we’re about to shift into right now, where I get very personal with
you about the anointing that came upon my life and the anointing that’s on your life and
how God anoints people to do tremendous things. Okay?

Isaiah 61: Lets start there. Isaiah 61 – It say’s, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me
because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to
bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release for the
prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lords favor and the day of vengeance of our God.
To comfort all who mourn and to provide for those who grieve in Zion; to bestow on
them a crown of beauty instead of ashes; the oil of gladness instead of mourning; the
garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”

Okay, go back to verse one: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because the Lord
has anointed me to do.” the following: To preach, to teach, to bind up the broken-
hearted. Okay…the Bible says that Jesus was and is anointed. All right, so I’m gonna
wet you’re appetite and go through a few scriptures about the anointing and then we’re
going to get into what is the anointing, okay? And this is very good stuff today.

All right, Acts 10:38 – I’m turning in my Bible, looking for it with you. Acts 10:38
says this: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power,
who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by the devil.” Okay,
let’s look at that again: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and
with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by the
devil.” Okay, so again we see that Jesus was anointed on earth. Jesus is anointed.
There is an anointing.

All right, what is the anointing? What is the anointing? You know, I heard about
the anointing for the first time really, in Bible College, because before that I went to
church but I didn’t really pay attention but I remember people talking about the Old
Testament anointings and I remember them talking about the New Testament anointings
and never really understood and at times didn’t get great explanations. So, I remember
one time I was so excited about the things of God that I knew that the anointing made
some type of difference, so I decided I needed a difference made in my life.

So I went and got some shortening, like Crisco Shortening. Not the oil but the
shortening, (the white stuff) and I put it under my jacket and I went to the chapel and the
first thing that’s so funny is, I took the shortening without asking my roommate, Jerry
Best, (he used to make cookies with it) so can you believe people, I stole it to get
anointed but I was goin’ to return it. So I take the Crisco Shortening, go into the chapel; I
had the key because I was like, a resident director, and locked it to make sure no one
came in; took it out of my jacket, (my stolen anointing oil) rubbed it on my hands and I
just prayed. I said, “God, you know, I pray that you would anoint my hands, that I would
heal the sick.

It was the greatest thing (and some of you have heard me tell the story) the
power of God came on me so heavily that I felt the power of God. I felt what is known as
a tangible anointing, something that is empirical, something that’s touchable. I felt a
tangible anointing. Well, a day or two later, (I forget) I was driving this lady. She was a
lady evangelist, over 70, and her eyesight was not great so I used to drive her around
and she was praying for the sick one night and she looked at me, (as the people were
falling and I was catching them) and she says, “Tim, what did you do to your hands the
other night?” And I said, “Well, what do you mean?” She goes, “Whatever you did, God
said, you’re going to get everything you prayed for.”

And you know what? That say’s something. It says, “The effectual fervent prayer
of a righteous man avails much.” It also says that God truly draws near to those who
draw near to Him. Well, that night, I believe, when I prayed in that chapel, that I received
a stronger anointing. So lets talk about what is that? Okay? The anointing is a
manifestation of God’s divine power, which allows results both natural and supernatural
to take place. Okay, what that means is, it’s Gods ability on our lack of ability. It’s a
manifestation of God’s divine power, okay, that allows us to do things in the natural and
supernatural, all right?

Now I believe that there anointings to run businesses. There’s an anointing to be

a wife, there’s an anointing to be a evangelist. (and we’ll go through this) Now, the Holy
Spirit is the source of the power. You have to understand that. And the anointing is the
divine enablement that backs up that power to a lesser or greater degree. So, the Holy
Spirit is the source of power, okay? I want you to say, “The Holy Spirit is the source of
power.” One more time, say, “The Holy Spirit it the source of power.” Now imagine how
funny you look, because I know some of you are driving in the car as you’re listening to
this. People are saying, “What are they saying? They’re talking to there self.”

The Holy Spirit is the source of power and the anointing is the divine enablement
that backs up that power to a lesser or greater degree. Now, this is kind a neat because
in the Bible the Apostle Paul is talking to a young man by the name of Timothy, and he
is saying to Timothy, he says, “I thank God who counted me faithful to be a servant,”
Okay? Then he goes on to say, “It is God who has enabled me.” Okay, that enabling
power is the power of the Holy Spirit that comes on somebody and allows them to do
things that they could not have done in the natural. Did you hear what I just said?

So God is enabling you. God is enabling…that’s: 1 Timothy, chapter 1, and then it

starts at verse 12 and then you can go down and you can find that. All right? So, the
Holy Spirit is the source of power and the anointing is divine enablement that backs up
the power to a lesser or greater degree. The degree of the flow of the power is
measured by the degree of obedience and dedication of the believer. And this is
something that we need to really get real about.

In year one we got into, “If I can do it, you can do it. If I can do it, you can do it. If
I can do it, you can do it.” And I believe that. But I have been challenged, I think, in a
way that has really helped me. I was talking to a friend of mine, Ray McCauly, from
Johannesburg, South Africa. And I love Ray. Ray pastored a church of 13,000 people in
South Africa. And you could walk through a shopping center with him and people come
up to him and know him. People like Nelson Mandela, listen to what he has to say, He’s
a powerful man but he says, “Tim, I challenge you,” he said, “you keep telling the people
that if you could do it, they could do it. I think it’s important that you also tell them the
other side of it; of what you had to give up to move in God and the dedication that you
put in. Otherwise,” he says, “That’s like telling somebody that they can get an airplane
and fly the same as somebody that’s been flying for American Airlines for thirty years.”

You know what? I agree with that. So out of my zeal and out of my love for you,
I’ve said, “if I could do it, you could do it,” and I believe that because God’s no respecter
of persons but in year two we’re going to get into the price. I’m gonna really get into the
price that one has to pay in order to flow with the anointing that God wants to have you
flow in because I think that some people, they go to certain levels in God and their
strong Christians and they’re devoted in some ways but then they get frustrated
because they’re not seeing it the same way I’m seeing it or other people but I think that
there is a price to be paid, that very few people are willing to pay.

And just to tell you this: that out of the students that sign up for year one: I would
say we’re probably only going to get about twenty per cent that sign up for year two.
And, a, what I’m saying to you is that most people want it to a certain level. Almost
everybody has said, “Boy I enjoyed year one.” But there’s only about twenty per cent of
you that decided to go on with year two because there’s a lot of work involved and you
have to sacrifice in different areas: To listen to these tapes, sometimes to even buy
these tapes, to buy this program and I remember when I first started in the ministry…
boy, I was willing to sacrifice.

I was willing to sacrifice to drive four miles to go see Yonghi Cho, to go see other
healing evangelists. I was willing to sacrifice to buy hundreds of dollars worth of tapes
and videos. People, I mean, I have such a vast library of videos and tapes and books. A
lot of those were bought when I was nineteen, twenty, twenty-one years of age, in Bible
College, (paying my way through) working selling suits and working at a restaurant. So,
my point is: sacrifice. There’s a lot of sacrifice. The degree of the flow of the power is
measured by the degree of obedience and dedication of the believer.

The anointing does not just move on anyone the same way. It doesn’t because,
see, God entrusts us with different levels of anointing. It’s kind of like this; if you have a
son that’s eleven, just ‘cause you love him doesn’t mean you’re going to trust him with a
shotgun, okay? So, the Lord is looking for people that are servants that He can entrust
with a stronger anointing. So, we’re gonna get into what the anointing is and what is a
stronger anointing? Can one get a stronger anointing, etc…But those that are willing to
pay the price that God has required, I believe that they can move in a powerful way.

Lets go to Psalms 103 and by the time you’re done with me; Signs and Wonders
1, Signs and Wonders 2, Signs and Wonders 28; by the time you’re done with me you’re
gonna really know Psalms 103 ‘cause it’s one of my favorites, k? Psalms 103, verse 1
says: “Praise the Lord O my soul and all my inmost being, Praise His Holy name. Praise
the Lord, O my soul and forget not all His benefits: He forgives all my sins and heals all
my diseases. He redeems my life from the pit and crowns me with love and
compassion.” Okay?

Go to verse 7: “He made known His ways to Moses,” k, “and His miracles (or His
deeds) to the children of Israel.” Now, another thing that we’ve talked about in the past
is that Moses wanted to know God’s ways; the children of Israel just wanted to see the
miracles. So what happens is that you can be a person who just wants to see the
miracles or just from time to time, experience a miracle, and you’ll get that but I like
Moses’ idea. He wanted to know the miracle working God. He wanted to get to know His
ways and part of the price that’s required; to me is really not a price. It is to some but
that’s spending time with God.

Can you imagine we call that a price? But I’m just saying that we have called it a
price in the past. “The price of prayer, the price of fasting, the price of talking to the
Almighty God. Can you imagine? We call that a price. So really, lets change our thinking
in that. There’s a price as far as dying to self, there’s a price because you’re going to be
attacked by the devil like never before, there’s a price because people will take you
wrong and get jealous and try to kill you. And we’ll get into that.

You’ll see what David’s life, when the anointing came on him and favor came on
him, his brother wanted to get him and everybody else but it’s not a price to pray. It’s not
a price to study; it’s not a price to talk to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. To me,
it’s a pleasure. To me it’s something that is…it’s just phenomenal that you think that you
can talk to God, you can spend time with God. So lets not call that a price anymore.
“Boy, I paid the price, I had to pray this morning.” No, it is a pleasure and it’s an honor.
It’s an honor to do that, okay?

Now, lets talk about the purpose, the purpose of the anointing, okay, the purpose
of the anointing. Here’s where the rubber starts to meet the road, see, ‘cause I want to
get you from the promise to the prayer, to the power, to the proof, to make you
somebody that moves in God. So, a lot of times people talk about, “The anointing, I was
under the old fashioned anointing.” Okay, well, what is it? What is it like? What does it
feel like? Can I get more anointed? Can I get less anointed? So let’s talk about the
purpose of the anointing.

Now, the anointing, number one, is given to destroy the yokes of bondage. The
anointing is given to destroy the yoke of bondage. All right, “What is the yoke of
bondage?” That’s a very good question ‘cause we say all these things; you wonder,
“What is that,” you know? (I’m drinking water) All right, the anointing is given to destroy
the yoke of bondage. Now, what used to happen is, the oxen, during that time, you
know, the livestock, the oxen; they’d have these yokes, okay? And they would connect
like, some time, one oxen with another oxen, with these yokes, all right? And the yoke
goes across the neck, so that’s their thinking when their saying, “The yoke, the yoke;”
this thing that connects a bondage. When bondage is like a yoke on somebody’s neck
or oppression is like a yoke on somebody’s neck.

So, it’s like heaviness, and you know, let me tell you something, there is a yoke
of bondage on people today; it’s called “stress.” And you know, when you feel stress it’s
usually in the neck or the shoulders and the back. All right, so, it’s like the devil has this
big fat yoke of bondage on your neck. The Bible says, “The anointing breaks the yoke,”
all right? So, we’re gonna get into the purpose of the anointing, k? What does it do? It
breaks the yoke of bondage.

Through God’s power, through God’s strength, through God’s anointing, through
God’s healing power, it actually causes that stress or anoint…or, or bondage to break off
somebody. To me it’s like if you take, if you take a pan that has grease on it and you put
it under the water and the hot water begins to break up the grease; that’s what the
anointing does. So that’s why sometimes I’ll pray for people, “Bam!” and I’ll pray for ‘em,
“Boom, bam, bam, bam…and I pray, and I pray fast…but other times I may even go
back to the first person I prayed for the first time and pray and pray and pray until it’s
like that hot water keeps breaking down the grease. Okay?

And let me just tell you another thing about this: that, that’s one reason
protracted meetings are good (and protracted means, something that’s longer) is, a,
because lets say if I come in one night; sure we’ll have a great meeting if God’s there,
which He usually is doing something special. And if you go the second night, it always
builds but that’s why in places like Lakeworth, Florida, where I stayed 5 weeks…whoa,
we started seeing the greater miracles the third, fourth, fifth week. And my friend, Bob
Nickels church in Fort Worth, Texas, where I’d stay longer for a periods of time, we’d
begin to see it more and more and more and more.

My buddy, Larry Stockstil, Baton Rouge, the longer we stayed, the greater the
miracles. Art Sepulveda, Honalulu, Hawaii, you stay there a few nights: the greater the
miracles, so, the longer you would stay, you would see the greater miracles. Part of that
is, is that, that anointing is intensifying, growing and it’s just, it’s just pressing the yoke of
bondage and breaking it up, okay?
