Attacking Drills

3v1
- Students are organised into groups of 4
- Grids are created using cones, with one group per grid
- 3 students are to be the attackers, and one the defender
- The attacking students are to pass the ball to one another, aiming
to keep it off the defender
- The defender aims to get the ball of the attacking team
- When the ball goes out of play or is stopped by the defender,
students rotate roles
- Ensure focus is on the attacking team maintaining possession
Progression
- Change number of attackers or defenders
- Change player area
- Include shooting towards goal
KTPS
- Effective positioning to receive a pass
- Movement on and off the ball
- Maintaining of possession

Balance attack
- Students are organised into even teams of 4-5 players and positioned on a field. Each team
can have a goalie if desired
- Cones can be used to create a goal, or use proper soccer goals
- Teams play simple team A versus team B game, following regular
soccer rules
- Students aim to have all players in their team score a goal
- The winning team is the first team to have all players score a goal
Progression
- Increase playing field
- Change number of players in each team
- Limit number of passes
KTPS
- Effective movement on and off the ball
- Correct positioning
- Execution of skills (passing, shooting, dribbling)

5 v 4 Attacking
- Students are organised into teams of 5, with two teams positioned on one playing area
- A proper soccer goal is used on one side of the area, and two cone goals are created on the
other side
- One team becomes the attacking team with all players on the
field, and the other team becomes the defending team with 4
players on the field and 1 as the target player
- Students play a 5 v 4 game, with the attacking team focussing
on maintaining possession and scoring through the proper
soccer goals
- The defensive team aims to limit the attacking team and score
by passing the ball through the cone goals to their target player
- Students tally points scored
- All soccer rules are followed, with a turn over for out of bounds, foul and goals.
- Switch teams to attacking or defending after given time

- Include goalie to defender soccer goals
- Change number of players
- Limit number of touches

- Effective movement on and off the ball
- Correct positioning
- Execution of skills (passing, shooting, dribbling)
- Team work
