Northville 15 Integrated School joined the national observation of the annual National Reading Month
this November. In compliance to Division Memorandum 112, s. 2015 which states that November is designated
as the National Reading Month. The Department of Education leads the whole nation to support Ten Point Agenda
of the Aquino Administration and to commemorate the birth anniversary of the late Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino on
November 27, and to celebrate his ardent love for reading. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Pagbasa Susi
sa Magandang Kinabukasan”.
NV15IS held its own celebration of the Reading Month with a kick-off held at the School’s Covered Court
on November 19. After the flag ceremony, the pupils and students gathered and eagerly waited for the guest
storyteller. Before the storytelling activity, the importance of the celebration was emphasized in a message given
by Ms. Maria Clara Palisuc, English Coordinator. She told /students of NV15IS to keep on reading because
reading brings you to places you have never been. Meet new people every time you turn the pages of your favorite
book.
MYSTERY READER Finally, the story telling activity took place. Mr. Ariel Perez shared a short story in
a very creative way/
November 19 and 26 was designated for the activity named “LITERACY BUDDIES” wherein learners
from the upper grade partner with those from the lower grade. During lunchtime and after classes, the learners
from the upper grade read a story to his/her partner at their classrooms and in the school’s covered court. They
also asked simple questions about the story they have read. In this activity the Grade 7 students partnered with
the Grade 10 students, shared their reading time together.
BOOKFAIR! was the activity given to grade 7-10 students. All grade 7 students made a bookmark with
quotations from famous stories they have read. Grade 8 made pop-up books while grade 9 and 10 participated the
culminating activity. Grade 10 students successfully had their cosplay in the morning and the grade 9 students
had their role playing contest in the afternoon.
COSPLAY Contest were held on November 29. Students dressed up in fancy costumes featuring English
book characters. :
