Schoology is a Learning Management System (LMS) that provides services
for users to create, organize, and share files. The Schoology symbol was designed by Jeremy Friedman, Ryan Hwang, and Tim Trinidad in 2007 when they still hadn't graduated from university. At first Schoology was made to exchange files, and new features were developed to the present. Schoology offers instructors paid premium features that include additional security, synchronizing school databases to schoology, and other features that are enough to help teachers in the teaching process. Unpaid ordinary Schoology features provide 15GB of space to upload files for 100 students. The features of schoology are as follows: 1. Courses (Course), which is a facility for making class subjects, for example subjects in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and so on. On the course there are several features to support learning, namely: 1. Assignments, which are used to collect tasks (upload files). 2. Tests / Quizzes, which are used to make or view available quizzes. In this Tests / Quizzes there are several types of questions, namely multiple choice, right wrong, matchmaking, short entries, and so on. For chemistry, physics and especially mathematics teachers, they are very spoiled in making questions in Schoology, which is equipped with Symbols, Equation, and Latex. So all kinds of questions containing images, symbols, and equations can be written in Schoolgy. The advantage of online questions that Schoolgy has is that we don't need to check student work. And those questions (usually in the form of assignments) can be done at home, the teacher can only control them remotely. 3. Files / Links, which contains material in the form of files or towards certain links. 4. Discussions, which are used for discussion places together in one course. 5. Albums, which is a collection of photos that have been uploaded. 6. Groups (Groups), namely facilities for making groups 7. Resources (Learning Resources)
Some of the advantages of schoology are the availability of Attandance /
attendance facilities, which are used to check the attendance of students, where students can be marked as "present", "permission", "late", or "not entered". In addition, there is an Analytic facility to see all the activities of students in each course, assignment, discussion and other activities that we prepare for students. Through this analytical feature, we can also see anywhere or in any activity an ordinary student spends their time when he or she is logged in. In schoology, you can also set up / moderate users who want to join in our group / class, on the Access Group status as Invite Only, Allow Requests or Open. The teacher can also filter student posts on a course before the post is published. So students cannot update status on their course. In particular schoology also has facilities to send letters / messages and only through direct posts. So that on schoology, you can send letters anywhere via the available Messages facility. Schoology also can not only update status for your course or group, but can share your posts to your Facebook or Twitter account. Schoology also provides facilities to manage grades of quiz results or other activities, via Gradebook. Schoology can also be accessed via a mobile device, by installing Schoology Apps, which can be downloaded and used for free. In addition to the advantages outlined above, schoology also has several disadvantages, namely the teacher cannot invite students via email, the content on the mobile phone is incomplete.
