FOUR HITS OR FAULT - Team A serves the ball.

Team B executes three hits to return it -

the court.

point is scored on every rally, regardless of which team serves. It used to be that only
the volleyball team serving could score a point on a won rally. Also, sets were typically
played to 15 points.

usually a spike, from the opposing team. To perform a block, players jump, reach high
beyond the net with their hands and stop the ball from coming across. To be a legal block,
players must follow specific rules or a violation may occur.

BALL TOUCHED- A block is completed whenever a volleyball is touched by a blocker. ... The
block is made after the opponents have hit the volleyball in such a manner that
the ball would clearly cross the net if not touched by a player and no member of the
attacking team is in position to make a play on the volleyball.

BOUNDS/ANTENNA-VIOLATION - Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on a
serve. A ball hitting a boundary line is in. A ball is out if it hits an antennae, the floor

substitution rules. Failure to follow substitution rules will result in penalties against your
team, such as a lost time-out.
CHANGE COURT- each set, the teams change courts, with the exception of the deciding set.
In the deciding set, once the leading team reaches 8 points, the teams change courts
without delay and the player positions remain the same. If the change is not made once the
leading team reaches 8 points, it will take place as soon as the error is noticed. The score at
the time that the change is made remains the same.

END OF TE GAME- A point or rally is started when one team serves the ball. The player
serving the ball must stand behind the end line or restraining line at the back of the court
until after they have contacted the volleyball. To serve a player hits the ball with their hand
over the net and into the opposing team's side.

delay of game sanction.

game sanction and the reason for that sanction.

DELAY IN SERVICE- When the server doesn't contact the ball within 8 seconds, raise both
arms above your head. Use five digits on the right hand, and thumb and the first fingers on
the left hand. Always use the same digits on each hand no matter which side the fault
occurred.
