II. REFLECTION AND CONCLUSION

Reflections

When reflecting on this semester of student teaching, there have been so

many challenges, so many celebrations, and so much that we have learned. We
have been pushed beyond our comfort zone, and we have grown as a teacher
immensely.

We have learned how important it is to accept that we are not perfect

teachers, and neither are our cooperating teachers. We all have things to learn,
and our student teaching experience has taught us how to learn from our mistakes
rather than letting them eat away at us. We learned a lot from our cooperating
teachers and from our students, almost every day, and being open to this and
vulnerable allowed us to grow, adapt and think. Having these experiences is the
true life of a teacher.

With being honest about our mistakes ad imperfections, we were able to

also form stronger connections with our students. We have always valued forming
strong relationship with our students in order to create the beast learning
environment for them. We have loved getting to know each of our students like,
dislike, strengths and weaknesses. We believe that this has helped us better to
teach them and has made our classroom a happier place to learn.

We also learned the importance of having an open mind. We have learned

that opening up to approaches and styles that we are not particular to use is
beneficial to help us learn more ways that we can help our students and to also
learn more about what we like and dislike as a teacher. We also learned that there
is value in learning about what you do not want to do as a teacher just as much as
learn what you do want to do. It is important to continue being open minded so that
we can leave room to grow into a more effective teacher.

We have really enjoyed our student teaching experience despite all of its
hardships and challenges. We found ourselves in very low points but also in very

high points throughout this semester, but we can clearly see how it has all grown
us as a teacher, and we feel as though we can confidently walk into whatever
classroom we will be teaching in next year.
