Six Sigma

Six sigma is a technique and philosophy which is used to remove and resolve buisness problems
and difficulties in easy way and efficiently.

Problem

There is a medical store in a city which was not so popular when it started but with the passage
of time the store become instant hit and their customers increases dramitacally.

They also opened their new branches in different areas of the city.

One problem which the management of medical store is facing is that the the billing system is
manual. Worker just write the price and details of the medicene on a paper and hand it over to
the customer.

Another problem is that the store do not have the database which have all the record of
medicene and products avaliable in the store. If a customer ask worker about different medicene
then the worker have to search all the racks and drawers for that medicene.

Last problem is that the medical store have different branches all over the city and they are not
connected with each other. When one branch have some problem they have to contact with
other branch to find the solution so if they are not connected then they can't do nothing about
it.

Solution

Solving the problem with the help of six sigma technique.This technique have eight steps which
are following.

Target

Target is to make the medical store more effecient and provide more serivces to customers
and staff of the store.

Analysis

When cashier give reciept to customer which is hand written and that hand written reciept is
not saved in any document or file so when the customer comes to return the medicene or
any product then the casheir do not know the exact date and time of purchase.

There is no record of any medicene of the store in any register or database.

The branches of medical store are not connected with each other.

Solution

The management decided to arrange a meeting with all branch managers and workers to
solve these issues.

After meeting they all decided to:

·4 Make a database of store items

·5 Connect all the branches through internet

Planning

After the meeting the managers plans to execute the decisions.

·7 Give them contract

·8 Explain the problem

·9 Decide the Financial status of the project

·10 Give the software company a time frame

·11 Hire some computer operators

·12 Tell the software house to make the system user friendly

·17 Finally tell them about all the locations of branches to make them
interconnected

Checking

·18 Tell the developers to install the automatic system

·19 Ask the computer operator to check the system weather it works or not

working effieciently or not

·21 Finally check that all the branches are conntected or not

Maintainence

·22 Keep the bill record in the database regularly

·23 Update the database when new products comes in the store

·24 Make the backup of the system regularly
