AND MAINTAIN EQUIPMENT. FAILURE TO READ, UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW THE OPERATING
AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY,
DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
®
Most SPM products generate, control or direct pressurized fluids; therefore, it is critical that those who work
with these products be thoroughly trained in their proper application and safe handling. It is also critical that
these products be used and maintained properly!!
SPM® flow products contain elastomeric seals and are not intended to provide proper functionality when
exposed to fire.
The following information is given in good faith and should aid in the safe use of your SPM® products. This
information is not meant to replace existing Company's safety policies or practices.
Personal Responsibilities:
®
1. When working on SPM flow control products, safety glasses, approved safety shoes and hard hat must
be worn.
2. Personnel should never hammer on any component when pressure is present. Hammering on any part
or component may also cause foreign material or steel slags to become airborne.
3. It is a personal responsibility to use the proper tools when servicing the valve. It is a personal
responsibility to be knowledgeable and trained in the use and handling of tools for all maintenance of the
valve.
4. Hot surface may be present; it is a person’s own responsibility to protect against burn injury.

On Location:
1. Each valve is clearly marked with a maximum pressure rating. This pressure must not be exceeded or
SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.
2. The valve discharge connections should be properly cleaned and lightly oiled before the downstream
piping is attached. Any worn, damaged or missing seals should be replaced.
3. Welding, brazing or heating any part of the product is prohibited. If accessories must be attached,
consult Weir Oil & Gas factory prior to installation.
4. A complete visual inspection of the product must be made prior to each use. Any leaking seals, broken
bolts, leaking hoses or improperly tightened parts must be remedied prior to using.
5. Any repairs or service (even routine maintenance) performed on the product must be performed by a
trained service technician who is qualified to work on high pressure flow control products. All such
service and repairs must be supervised by qualified management personnel or returned to Weir Oil &
Gas for service. Only SPM® replacement parts should be utilized. Failure to do so may result in loss
of warranty as well as SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
Special Precautions:
1. The modifications to or unauthorized repair of any part of a SPM® product, or use of components not
qualified by Weir Oil & Gas , can lead to damage to or failure of equipment and SERIOUS BODILY
INJURY OR DEATH!
2. All SPM® threaded components are right hand threaded unless specifically designated otherwise. Any
turning counterclockwise will unscrew the assembly. Make sure all threaded components are
assembled to the correct torque value.
3. All products should be properly cleaned, greased or oiled after each use and inspected prior to each
use.
4. Each integral union connection is clearly marked with a pressure code (i.e. “1502”, 15,000 psi). This
pressure must not be exceeded. This code should also be used with mating unions. Improper mating
can result in failures. All integral union connections used must match (according to size, pressure
rating, etc.). These connections must also match the service of the designated string they are installed
in.
5. Weir Flow Products are not intended for operation during fire, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes,
hurricanes, or other catastrophes, whether natural or man-made. Weir recommends immediate
depressurization of the equipment, followed by implementation of all customer specific safety protocols.

Introduction
SPM® RFID technology is designed with efficiency and safety in mind. Iron equipped with SPM® RFID tags can
be quickly scanned to efficiently manage inventory, while allowing users to easily determine the inspection
status of their iron before putting it into the field.
The SPM® RFID app
Provides ability to rapidly verify asset inspection status and view inspection certificates
Expedites inventory management on site or at service facility
Reduces misidentification during inspection
Leverages the SPM® Asset Management Program (A.M.P.) to immediately update and store iron and
RFID asset tag data.
The SPM® RFID mobile application can be found on either the Apple App Store for iOS or Google Play for
Android. Within either app store, search “WeirRFID” to find the app and download on to the device.
Once the application has been downloaded, the below icon will be visible on the device. For Android users, you
will need to enable “phone and storage” under the App permissions. For most devices, you can access this
under Settings, Applications, and App Permissions. Some devices will ask to change these permissions upon
initial download.

NOTE: The user will only be required to complete this log in when the app is initially downloaded and opened
for the first time, or when the Clear Data action is selected within the application.
The URL as a default is set to the live production server. Clicking the icon to the right will allow the user to
select the QA test server. Most will not have access to the QA test server and should always maintain the
default setting.
The user also has the ability to click the icon to the right of the Password field to unhide the characters typed
within the field if needed.

When changing between one model type and another, you must “Clear Data” as explained later in this
document, to reset the application to the original settings and chose the model to be used. This step is not
necessary when switching scanners within the same manufacturing brand.
The Terms and Conditions need to be accepted when the application is downloaded and opened for the first
time, or re-opened after being closed.

After accepting the terms and conditions the user will enter the AMP Log In screen. The user will input their
AMP Log In and Password. The user is required to log in each time the application closes.
NOTE: The active list of scanned tags will be saved if the application times out or is closed. It will be removed if
Clear Data button on log in page is selected.
The Clear Data button is used when switching users from different locations, companies, or switching from one
model of scanner to another. If you switch from one user to another and want the app to return to the original
settings, select Clear Data. It will ask you to accept that the data will be deleted. It will then provide an alert. The
application must then be closed out. Fully close the application using the process appropriate to the phone
being used. Reopen the application and start the log in process.

From the home screen, the user has several options in addition to beginning to scan asset tags.
By clicking on the Menu icon, the user can select from a list of actions:
The Manual Serial Number Entry field will allow the user to type in a serial number to add to the asset list. This
may be useful when the user wishes to utilize the functionality of the application for an asset that is not
equipped with a SPM® RFID tag. The user may tap inside the box to bring up the keyboard and manually type
in a serial number. Tap the green “plus” button to add it to the list.
NOTE: This will only return information for parts that are in AMP and accessible by the user’s access rights.
NOTE: Best practice has shown that scanning assets should be done in batches of around 5 assets at a time.
This will help the user verify that all desired assets are verified to be scanned and that updates to the asset
information through the application are conducted on the correct assets.
NOTE: Scanned tag list will be saved if the application times out or is closed. It will be removed if Clear Data
button on log in page is selected.
Each AMP log in has an associated Organization and Company. When scanning new items directly from the
Weir Oil & Gas factory, the items are automatically assigned to the logged in user’s Organization and Company.
When searching for these items in AMP, the user must look at that company level unless the assets are
assigned to subsequent levels in the Edit Organization Unit portion of the app, explained later in this document.
