DIGITAL VIDEO SYSTEM FOR GAIT ANALISYS
ABSTRACT
This work is done to complete the development of a gait laboratory for investigation in the Biomechanic Chair of
the career of Bioengineering from the Engineering Faculty of UNER. The application of techniques of digital video
are being converted in an important tool for gait and sports. In high performance sports the complexity of
movements and speed are very high, also for trained eyes, therefore it is impossible to look for details of
movements. These technologies allow the acquisition of images at high frequency (180 frames per second or more),
providing additional information for describing the dynamical activities being possible for the improvements in the
sports techniques. Unfortunately, this technique is limited for the high cost of commercial equipment. In this context
and focussing on the attention in gait studies, we are developed a low cost system that include a PC software for

gait analysis of health and some pathologic cases.
