Decision 2010 Tracking Poll Shows Nan Hayworth

and John Hall Still Neck and Neck
Large Undecided Voting Block Remains
Voters Trust Hayworth More to Help Turn Around Economy

WHITE PLAINS, NY (October 27, 2010) A second poll of the race for the U.S.
House of Representatives 19th District in New York State between incumbent
John Hall (D) (WF) and Dr. Nan Hayworth (R) (C) (I) still shows a dead heat
between the candidates similar to a previous poll conducted on October 6, 2010,
according to a RNN-TV/ Westchester County Association (WCA) Decision 2010
poll conducted by Iona College.

When asked whom they would vote for in the election, 44% said Hayworth, 43%
said Hall and 13% remain undecided. This compares to the previous Decision
2010 poll showing 42% for Hayworth, 42% for Hall, and 16% undecided.

“This is as close as it gets. Hayworth has inched ahead a bit with some
previously undecideds going her way, but this is still anybody’s race,” said
Jeanne Zaino, coordinator of the Iona College poll and a professor of political
science at the school.

 Voters in this second poll were also asked which candidate they trusted
more to help turn around the nation’s economy. The results:

1
John Hall 38%
Nan Hayworth 45%
Undecided 17%

“Voter opinion in this election year is heavily influenced by pocketbook issues,

and voters in this district are currently favoring Hayworth to be able to address
the economy,” Zaino commented.

The second poll, which has a margin of error of plus/minus 4.0% was
commissioned by RNN-TV in cooperation with the WCA Call to Action
Campaign’s Decision 2010. The poll included over 10,000 calls to registered
voters on October 20 and completed 601 responses to voter preference
questions.

The 19th Congressional District is regarded as one of the key mid-term races in
the U.S. Congress. The district includes northern Westchester and parts of
Dutchess, Orange and Rockland Counties.

In addition to candidate preference, the respondents in the most recent poll were
also asked:

 Please tell us whether you have a favorable or unfavorable view of each

candidate.
John Hall
Favorable view 43%
Unfavorable view 44%
Undecided 13%

Nan Hayworth
Favorable view 47%
Unfavorable view 35%

2
Undecided 18%
Zaino noted, “Compared to the previous poll we see former undecideds move
more in the unfavorable view direction for Hall while Hayworth is gaining slightly
more favorable than unfavorable views.”
 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The U.S. federal
government has become so ineffective it is time to vote all current officials
out of office and elect new people to serve.
Agree 51%
Disagree 44%
Not Sure 5%

“This poll result shows voters in this district still express an anti-incumbent
sentiment, although those who disagree with the statement have gained some
ground since the previous poll.” Zaino added.

Also, 17% of voters polled indicated that they had watched the WCA Decision
2010 debate between Hall and Hayworth aired on Regional News Network RNN-
TV on October 13, 2010. There are approximately 400,000 registered voters in
this district.

Other notable findings of this poll include:

• Non-party voters, which account for about 24% of voter registrations in

the district, prefer Hayworth at 46% to Hall at 36%, with 17% of them
being undecided. Moreover, 50% of them would agree to vote all
members of Congress out of office.

• 48% of voters undecided about their choice of candidate would vote all
members of Congress out of office when asked the question.
