STANDARD CALIBRATION FOR STEEL RULER AND FLEXIBLE SCALE

AS OF JIS B 7516 REFERNCE STANDARD

1. Check the appearance of the test rule.

2. Both the test rule and the gauge block must be in temperature equilibrium
with the environment of the length laboratory.

3. Place the test rule and the gauge block on the length bench or similar flat
surface, parallel to one another using steel straight edge (not applicable to
flexible scale with stopper) in the reference point.

4. Observe readings from left to right sides of the corresponding graduation of the
standard rule and record the measurement value to the nearest 0.1.

5. Repeat the measurement up to three (3) times; then get the average and the
difference of maximum and minimum.

STANDARD CALIBRATION FOR VERNIER & DIGITAL CALIPER

AS OF JIS B 7507 REFERNCE STANDARD

1. Check the appearance of the caliper.

2. Both the vernier caliper and the gauge block must be in temperature equilibrium
with the environment of the length laboratory.

3. Zero the Vernier caliper at the start and adjust as required by the manufacturers’
specifications. If you cannot zero it then mark it as a fail.

4. When testing the vernier caliper, one of the points must be near the lower limit,
middle part and near the upper limit that the instrument can measure.

5. Repeat the measurement up to three (3) times; then get the average and the
difference of maximum and minimum.
STANDARD CALIBRATION FOR DEPTH GAUGE

AS OF JIS B 7518 REFERNCE STANDARD

1. Check the appearance of the depth gauge.

2. Both the depth gauge and the gauge block must be in temperature equilibrium
with the environment of the length laboratory.

3. Zero the depth gauge at the start when placed directly on the steel straight edge
and in the gauge block. If you cannot zero it then mark it as a fail.

4. When testing the depth gauge, one of the points must be near the lower limit,
middle part and near the upper limit that the instrument can measure.

5. Repeat the measurement up to three (3) times; then get the average and the
difference of maximum and minimum.

STANDARD CALIBRATION FOR OUTSIDE MICROMETER

AS OF JIS B 7502 REFERNCE STANDARD

1. Check the appearance of the outside micrometer.

2. Both the outside micrometer and the gauge block must be in temperature
equilibrium with the environment of the length laboratory.

3. Zero the outside micrometer at the start and adjust as required by the
manufacturers’ specifications. If you cannot zero it then use a gauge block and
adjust the micrometer to that value.

4. When testing the outside micrometer, one of the points must be near the lower
limit that the instrument can measure, another somewhere in the middle, and the
third near the upper limit.

5. Repeat the measurement up to three (3) times; then get the average and the
difference of maximum and minimum.
STANDARD CALIBRATION FOR INSIDE MICROMETER

AS OF JIS B 7502 REFERNCE STANDARD

1. Check the appearance of the inside micrometer.

2. Both the inside micrometer and gauge blocks must be in temperature equilibrium
with the environment of the length laboratory.

3. Set first the inside micrometer in zero (0) if not, use the ratchet to adjust it.
Gauge block is assembled using block clamp and jaws in the desired test gauge
dimension.

4. Repeat the measurement up to three (3) times; then get the average and the
difference of maximum and minimum.

STANDARD CALIBRATION FOR DIAL GAUGE

AS OF JIS B 7503 REFERNCE STANDARD

1. Check the appearance of the dial gauge.

2. Both the dial gauge and the calibration tester must be in temperature equilibrium
with the environment of the length laboratory.

3. Set up the dial gauge in the calibration tester then set both instrument in zero as
its reference point. Then set the dial gauge in your preferred test gauge
dimension and read the measured value by the calibration tester.

4. Repeat the measurement up to three (3) times; then get the average and the
difference of maximum and minimum.
STANDARD CALIBRATION FOR DIAL CALIPER GAUGE

AS OF OZAKI MFG. (PEACOCK) STANDARD REFERENCE

1. Check the appearance of the dial caliper gauge.

2. Both the dial caliper gauge and the gauge blocks must be in temperature
equilibrium with the environment of the length laboratory.

3. Set first the dial caliper gauge to zero (0) measurement value and then position
the dial caliper gauge’s teeth correctly in the gauge block.

4. Repeat the measurement up to three (3) times; then get the average and the
difference of maximum and minimum.
