Year 7 Seniors
Week 1, Term 1 29th January 2019

All about ____!

I grew up in a small country town located 5-hours North of Adelaide. I moved to Adelaide to complete years
11 and 12 at Westminster School as a boarding student. I decided to stay in Adelaide and attend university
to gain my teaching degree (this was quite hard as I left my family and boarding family to start my life). I
spent 2018 working as a relief teacher at various schools around Adelaide and in the country. As well as
working as a relief teacher, I travelled solo for six weeks, visiting 12 countries in Europe. I am extremely
excited to be apart of Room 10 this year and I look forward to getting to know all of the children as well as
families. Out of school, I love being active and I spend my time outdoors, nearby a beach eating an acai
bowl.

My primary focus is tailoring my teaching to suit the needs and interests of all students. I strongly believe in creating a learning environment where
all students feel nurtured, understood, safe and motivated. I lead a hands-on teaching style, as I believe this is a way that fully engages the students

as they learn more from experiences.

All about Tara!

Hi, my name is Tara Metzger and I am extremely excited to be a part of the year 7 teaching team for 2019. I was
born and raised in Adelaide, SA. I love to spend my spare time with friends and family, reading books, cooking and
going to the beach. Ever since I was 14 years old I knew I wanted to be a teacher, so straight out of high school I
started my degree at Flinders University - I completed my double degree in Bachelor of Education (R-7)/Bachelor of
Arts majoring in Earth Science.
For the last year and a half I have worked at SLPS as a relief teacher and have already got to know many of the
learners in Room 10. I believe in helping my students become courageous and independent learners. I also aim to

build positive and supportive relationships with the students to foster an environment in which they can learn and
grow. I am excited for the fun and challenging times the year will bring us, and I look forward to getting to know all the families.
