In particular, we simulate various danger-
ous situations in our in-house UN test
centre for batteries in six test procedures.
With the help of ultramodern equipment,
ANSMANN brings the cells to their perfor-
mance limits. Only after thermal tests,
short circuit and overcharge tests, height
simulations, vibration and shock tests the
products are approved for transportation.

Sensitive Li-ion batteries are more and more frequently being equipped with an intelli-
gent battery management system to maximise their safety and service life. These batter-
ies are inserted in intelligent applications in which they communicate with the terminal
or the charging station and exchange information such as current, voltage, residual
capacity, temperatures and charge cycles.

By connecting a Bluetooth module, wide-ranging possibilities for manufacturers and end

users open up. Thus, the integration of the BT module in the battery, as the central unit
of a battery-powered application, allows access not only to data and parameters in the
battery, but also to information in the end application and in the charger. Even firmware
settings and updates are now possible wireless via the BT connection and so the han-
dling of service cases becomes as easy as a child's play.

Our almost invisible rear-mounted engines impress with their
low weight, high range and high performance. The quiet and
efficient drives ensure a pleasant driving experience and
powerful propulsion of the familiar drive axle.
Rear-wheel motors are particularly suitable for use in
­trekking or mountain bikes. Thanks to integrated torque
sensors, the engines are powerful and at the same time very
quiet and vibration-free. The direct drive ensures low
­abrasion on the chain, pinion and gear shift. Through the
energy recovery, the range of the vehicle can be significantly
increased in several stages.
The rear-mounted engines are not only suitable for use with

Our wide range of front engines (FMX) in various perfor-
mance classes offers you the optimum basis for the best
possible adaptation to individual requirements. All ANS-
MANN engines are virtually noise- and vibration-free and
are characterised by their very high efficiency and their
compact, light design. The latter significantly reduces the
overall weight of the systems, especially compared to­
other solutions available on the market. The standard
­installation dimension (100 mm) facilitates installation and
makes it possible to equip all the bicycle models approved
in ­accordance with DIN EN15194 with it - even later. The

The innovation in the field of fast charging is the new E-Bus IPC200 charger. The universal
charger has an integrated communication and supports all common communication
­protocols such as CAN, I2C, SM, LIN, HDQ.

Li-ion battery packs from 24 V to 48 V are automatically identified. After the E-BUS charger
has contacted the battery, a detailed diagnosis starts. The intelligent charger identifies
the battery voltage, the charge current is adjusted and the charging process is started.
The output power is 200 W. Thereby in applications such as in drive systems, power tools
or medical devices the shortest charging times with simultaneous exchange of parame-
ters are realised. With the IPC200 charger, we present a universal charger that can
be adapted to all Li-ion battery systems. An authentic expert communicates with the

STANDARD BATTERY CONFIGURATIONS
ANSMANN has a wide range of standard Li-ion battery packs that are also available in
small series.

Based on common standard cells (e.g. Li 18650), a variety of Li-ion standard battery packs
are available for easy design-in. These battery packs all have an in-house UN transport
test (UN 38.3). Different versions in parallel or series connection ensure the right power
supply for practically every application.

With low annual quantities, often a development of new products is not worthwhile - the
development time is too long or the costs are too high. ANSMANN has many battery and
charging technology standards in its portfolio. We can provide these for you at short
­notice and cost-effectively as an application or complete system.

Li-ion batteries are the energy source of
the future.
With approximately twice the energy
density of NiMH cells and very low
self-discharge, this technology is the
optimal source of energy for all types of
applications - from drive technology to
medical technology. Li-ion battery packs
are thermally stable, extremely cold-­
resistant and have no memory effect.

SAFETY STANDARDS
Six test procedures simulate various
dangerous situations that can occur to a
battery during transportation. In addition
to a thermal test, short-circuit and
overload tests and a height simulation
(aircraft transportation) are also on the
test program. Upon successful completion
of all tests , a certificate will be issued in
accordance with UN Manual 38.3.
ROHS-TESTING

At the RoHS testing station, X-rays are used
to detect dangerous substances such as
heavy metals in devices and components.
Equally important is the testing of electro-
magnetic compatibility (EMC testing). The ATE
testing station is able to test battery packs
and the associated protective circuit in a
complex and fully automatic manner.
