LYING ON THE BED

The bedding is the way to fix or change the bed

according to the required method. the types of
laying for bed are: closed, open, occupied, post-
surgical

CLOSED BED

is the bed that remains empty until the admission

of another patient (its arrangement is made after
the final toilet of the unit)
OBJECTIVES

protect the mattress and cushion from dust and promote a clean
environment for the patient

TEAM:

lower sheet (or elastic corners), rubber, clinical sheet, upper sheet,
serape, bedspread and cover
METHOD
1- prepare the bedding in order of use, take it to the unit and place it in the chair on the cushion
2 - separate the bed and the wall a little bit if necessary
3- place the lower sheet with the central double in the middle of the mattress, extend it to the edge
of the footboard, leave the wide hem towards the headboard if the sheet is of elastic edges, the
upper and lower corner will remain on the proximal side of the nurse and place them on the corners
of the mattress
4- If it is ordinary savannah, put leftover under the head of the mattress, make wallet, stretch and fix
the rest of the corner
5- Put the side of the sheet under the mattress with the hands of the hands down
6- place the clinical rubber in the middle third of the bed or in the required area
7- place the clinical sheet 10 centimeters above the upper edge of the rubber, fold it
inward and fix it to the proximal end under the mattress; pass it to the opposite side
8- fold the rubber and clinical sheet in accordion towards the center of the bed

CONTROL AND SECURITY MEASURES

• BUSY BED

Procedure used when the bed is occupied by a patient and from which it is necessary to
change lines to improve the environmental conditions.
PROCESS

1. Integrate the equipment and place it in the reverse order of the one to be used, on the
chair of the clinical unit, after placing a pillow.

2. Remove bridge or night table and place the chair towards the foot wax of the bed.

3. Loosen all the bedding on the opposite side of the desk or bedside table.

4. Remove piece by piece by folding or wrapping as appropriate and place them either in
tannic or on the back of the chair if they are to be replaced with clean pieces.
5. Perfom bed cleaning according to the steps indicated in the daily cleaning of the patient´s
unit.

6. Place the sheet from the upper middle part of the mattress and slide it to the level of the
lower end of the mattress.

7. Fix the sheet in the upper external corner of the mattress with a wallet.

8. Place the clinical rubber on the middle third of the mattress and on this the clinical sheet,
trying to fix it under the upper and lower edges of the rubber

9. Insert the remaining ends of the three pieces placed under the mattress.

10. Go to opposite side of the bed and carry out the previous steps used to fix the clothes.
11. Place the upper sheet on the mattress starting from the upper
middle edge and on it and 15 or 25 cmdownwards, the cover.
12. Fold over the top edge the cover the corresponding end of the
sheet; this fold is called “courtesy”.
13. Place the bedspread on the top half of the mattress and slide ir
down and make purses at the bottom external corners of the masttress.
14. Dress the pillow and put it on the patient.
LAYING OF POST-SURGICAL BED: it is the arrangement of the bed that is made to
receive a patient who has undergone surgery or under general anesthesia. Bent on the
side in the form of a bellows. No pillow to avoid posible aspirations of a field cloth. (also
called ASSISTANCE OR RECOVERY BED)
Prepare the necessary material by arranging it
according to order of employment
- Carry out hand hygiene
- Put on non-sterile gloves
- Place the bed in a horizontal position, and if
necessary adjust the height of the bed to the
working position Remove dirty clothes from the bed
piece by piece, without shaking it, folding it or rolling
it over itself and depositing it in the dirty cart bag
- Push the mattress towards the head of the bed and
stretch or change the cover
Place the bottom sheet starting at the top, fixing it
under the mattress, making the corners in miter and
then inserting the sides. Place the sheet in the
middle, if necessary, in the middle third of the bed,
with the seams towards the feet, centering it and
fixing it under the mattress on the sides - Place the
countertop sheet leaving between 20 and 50 cm in
