Through the course of our unit, our students will learn the fundamental skills of striking.
Striking is used in a multitude of sports and games and it is very important for students to learn
the skills we teach to develop all learners into proficient strikers. During this unit we plan to start
with Peteca and assess for baseline data, then get into spike ball, pickle ball and badminton.
Foam paddles will be used throughout the unit as well as other large faced paddles for student
choice, all while still working on skills for Peteca. Peteca will be the final psychomotor
assessment to compare from our baseline data. The unit goal for the psychomotor domain is
students will be able to use an underhand striking pattern in a dynamic environment using
different implements. For our cognitive domain goal, students will be able to identify concepts
such as underhand striking cues, concepts of force and concepts of maintaining control. Our
Affective goal for this unit will be, every student will be able to use etiquette and adjust to rules
based on different striking activities throughout the unit such as Peteca, Pickleball and
Badminton
