GUIDELINES FOR THE PROJECT

REPORT WRITING FOLIO (30%)

This assignment is designed to prepare the students with the necessary language skills for
writing a project report. The assignment introduces students to Project research writing
through means of reading from relevant sources. They will learn to locate, use and
organize their information and data to execute the task. Writing skills such as
paraphrasing, summarizing, citing, organizing, writing and editing will be incorporated as
they complete the project report.

At the end of the project, students are required to submit a folio, which contains several
related documents that reflect the process of writing a project report.

GENERAL GUIDELINES:
1. Students will work in groups of FOUR or FIVE.
2. Students have to identify any mechanism or area to be proposed OR studied. For
example:
a) Mechanism to be proposed: Smart card for UTeM students and staff
b) Mechanism to be studied (evaluated & analysed): Digital vs. Conventional
Camera
3. Students may also carry out surveys in the course of completing the project report.
4. Students have to select at least 3 articles (one from the Internet and two from other
sources). All articles are to be photocopied and included in the folio.
5. Students need to synthesize information (and paraphrase) from the articles to support
their study.
6. Students need to ensure that the folio will contain: -
A) The Proposal of the Project Report
B) The Project Report
C) Secondary Sources (Articles)
before submitting the complete folio at the end of the project.
7. For all submission (excluding secondary sources), the students are to use Times New
Roman, size 12, and 1.5 spacing.
8. Ensure that students are to use ONLY one side of the page.
9. The deadline for submitting the complete folio is Week 14.
10. The folio should be ring-bound.
11. Include a softcopy of the project report (CD).
12. Any late submissions will be penalised a deduction of 50% from the scores of
the project.

ABSTRACT

To some, the amplifier and filter circuits are quite

uncommon terms. Nevertheless, these components are
embedded in most of our everyday electrical appliances.
The combination of these two circuits plays a major role in
almost any field related to electronic such as in
telecommunication, control system, entertainment, as well
as in signal-processing. Only very few people know the
basic operation of the circuit and its importance. Therefore,
this report deals with the basic operation of the 10W
Amplifier with Low-Pass Filter. It also briefly explains the
components, which were used as well as the function of
each part within the amplifier with low-pass filter circuit.
Other aspects, which relate to the consideration while
designing the amplifier, are also included. This project is
meant to discover the advantages and the applications of the
amplifier with low-pass filter circuit. The operation of a
10W amplifier with low-pass filter circuit was obtained
through experiments and also through reading as well as
archival collection. It was discovered that the amplifier with
low-pass filter circuit is made up from the combination of
4cm different components and circuit. The results were explained 2.5cm
based on the produced output signal of the amplifier circuit,
which is obtained through the experiments carried out. The
amplifier manages to produce an increase in power. The cut-
off frequencies were also determined. The importance of
this report is to point out as well as explain the technical
information, the basic operation and its common uses in real
life application.
