First of all, I would like to thank the supreme power the Almighty Allah who is obviously the one has
always guided me to work on the right path of life. Without his grace this project could not become a
reality.
First of all, thanks to my parents for giving encouragement enthusiasm and invaluable assistance to
me. Without all this, I might not be able to this subject properly.
And I would also like to thank the respected Mr. Shabbir Sarwar who warmly and cordially welcomed
me there at “The Educationist” and appreciated during in the whole period.
Organization

Launched in 2005, The Educationist is a Lahore, Pakistan-based English/Urdu newspaper reporting


on the education related news and issues from around the world, especially Pakistan and Asia. The
newspaper is available in hard print form as well in English and Urdu websites. Team The
Educationist is led by two senior professors of journalism and mass communication Prof. Dr. Shafiq
Jullandhry and Prof. Dr. Mujahid Mansoori, while Editor Mr. Shabbir Sarwar (PhD scholar) Associate
Dr. Ifra Iftikhar (Associate Editor) and Joint Editor Mr. A.R. Sajid (PhD Scholar) are responsible to
implement the policy decisions.
The team network spreads in all five provinces of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir with
bureau chiefs based in all major districts of Pakistan. Also our Country Resident Editors are based in
America, Russia, England, Germany and UAE. All members of the team are professional media
graduates.
The Educationist has liaison and memorandum of understandings with journalism departments in
many universities of the country as well as foreign universities, which helps share information and
training. The organization also plans yearly conference, co-curricular and extra-curricular competitions
among university students.
Editor-in-Chief
Prof. Dr. Shafiq Jullandhry
Retired as Head of Institute of Communication Studies, University of the Punjab, Dr. Shafiq Jullandhry
is also serving as professor of media studies in University of the Central Punjab. He is author of five
books including “Column Writing”, “Editorial Writing” and “Feature Writing”. Two of his books won
national awards. His students are working in all major TV channels and newspapers of the country.
He is the editorial policy mentor of The Educationist.
Senior Executive Editor
Prof. Dr. Mujahid Mansoori
Retired as Associate of Professor from Institute of Communication Studies, University of the Punjab,
Prof. Dr. Mujahid Mansoori is currently serving as Editor Development Reporting, Daily Jang, and the
largest Urdu newspaper of Pakistan. He contributes two columns every week for the newspaper. His
students are working in all major TV channels and newspapers of the country. He is also editorial
policy mentor of The Educationist.
Editor
Mr. Shabbir Sarwar
He is PhD scholar and also writing his dissertation on “Impact of communication channels on voting
behaviors in Punjab.” He is also working as Assistant Professor at Institute of Communication
Studies, University of the Punjab. To his credit is the practical journalism experience of 20 years in
reporting and news editing. Earlier, he worked in Daily Times, Daily The Sun and Daily The Post,
Weekly Independent and other newspapers.
Joint Editor
A.R. Sajid
Mr A.R. Sajid is a PhD scholar at Mass Communication Department, BZU Multan. Earlier, he earned
his master of philosophy degree in Journalism from Beachonhouse University, Lahore.
Associate Editor
Dr. Ifra Iftikhar
She is a PhD degree holder of journalism and also teaches at Superior University.

Mr. Muhsen Naseem Turk
With 20 years journalism experience, Mr Muhsen Naseem Turk, is working as associate editor of The
Educationist. He earlier served at Daily Pakistan Today, Daily Times, Daily The Sun, Daily The Post,
Daily Frontier Post and news agency Online-Pakistan.

Syed Qasim Raza
A media graduate from London Metropolitan University, Mr Syed Qasim Raza is heading the office of
The Educationist in Boston, USA. He also worked for The Sun International and Tahqeeq Pakistan.

My experience in” The Educationist”

During my internship in this educational newspaper I experienced different kind of jobs

 Event Management

Newsroom
A news room is the central place where journalists (reporter or editor) along with other staff
work to gather news to be published in a newspaper and/or an online newspaper or
magazine, or cable.
PU news room is the main department of the organization where all the news reports are
compiled under the supervision of its Editor Mr. Shabbir Sarwar. I learnt all the reporting skills
and techniques with a theoretical touch for him. During internship, I produced reports with
proper research which is also known as investigative report.
PU News
PU news is also the part of this organization where all the newsletter of Punjab University are
compiled by its supervisor.

Event Management
The Educationist organized “All Pakistan Co-curricular Competitions” annually.
More than 2000 students participated from all over Pakistan including Azad Jammu and
Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan in 2018 competitions. Team The Educationist organized this
mega event through 100 plus volunteers. I was given the title “ Event In-charge”.
The sphere of my responsibilities was massive, including invitations to media and journalist,
coordinating with judges, supervising results compilation of all the segments of these
competitions, and assigning duties to volunteers. In the end, pre and post event press
releases was also my duty.
Alhamdulillah I performed my duties well and I was awarded best performance award in prize
distribution ceremony.

• Provide information on the “who, what, where, when, why, and how” of an event.

• Working only on educational reports
• Limited Circulation

Opportunities

• It provide platform to their ICS interns as well as students from other institutions
• It offered payable internship to talented internees
Threats

Following are the threats of The Educationist newspaper of Pakistan:


• The organization is not publishing good number of government advertisements, this
economic survival is serious threat.

Conclusion

I would describe my internship as a positive and instructive experience. This internship


provides me lifetime experience in sensitized or development reporting especially in
educational reporting beat and improves my analytical and journalistic writing skills. I got
know how of development journalism and investigative reporting. In this period of my
