On the 29th of August 2018 the Philippine College of Criminology organized an event for
the school administrators and the faculty teachers/professors for them to be
knowledgeable in preventing crimes or on how to prevent these crimes present in such
areas. This was held in the JFAB building and it is a one hour talk and the people who
are present on that day was our professors, faculty staffs, the barangay kagawad of 308
and 309 and as well as the three Policemen wearing their uniforms these are SPO1
Zapanta, SPO1 Lobendino and SPO1 Uro of Police Station 3 in Manila. This was
entitled as Community-Based Outreach Program and the theme was “Pinaigting na
kampanya laban sa Kriminalidad”. Director Alfonso Datu gave the openning remark for
this said event on behalf of his wife Prof. Cara Datu and followed by Dr. Gregorio B.
Mendoza, he stated that the objective of this event was to inform us that we should
know how to prevent crimes thats happening around our areas. This event was led by
two students who are already in 3rd year college named Brian Facundo and Janel
Blasabas before they started the event they gave a brief introduction about the speaker
on that day and also his background story. The speaker was SPO1 Francis Vincent Uro
he said that that he was influenced by his Aunt who was the former dean of the
Philippine College of Criminology thats why he took up B.S Criminology even though he
was already a registered nurse. He discussed the “Crime Prevention” this talk would
help us to be wise and be alert especially when we are alone because crimes happened
everywhere to anyone whether we are walking at the street or even when we are at the
public transportation such as Jeepney, Taxi, or LRT/MRT crimes are prone to anyoner.
During his talk he also stated the different types of Modus popular in Manila areas the
example are Laslas gang, Bespren gang and Salisi gang etc. He patiently discussed the
different Modus infront of his audience for them to be knowledgeable about their
surroundings he also warned them to always keep an eye around them whenever thay
are walking and dont be so competent enough because crimes happen unexpectedly so
always be alert. He also included the Do’s and Dont’s inside the taxi or in our own
private cars. He also gave tips on what to do if we caught or witnessed people doing
something bad and the proper way to act when in that position or scene. This event was
really helpful for us because it is better to be educated about on these things than not
knowing at all. The emcees called Prof. Sherra and Dr. Mariglo Vicente to award the
