Raw Milk Improved Acid Reflux!

A college teacher shares her personal testimonial on
the virtues of raw milk drinking.
From: "Beating Acid Reflux" -
"The Rules

Here are the rules for the next 6 months. I have set these goals
based mainly upon 2 books I have read.
The first is Kathryn Pirtle's E-book Acid Reflux: A National
Epidemic and Precursor to Chronic Illness, Achieving Lasting
Healing with Traditional Foods.[1] I had heard of her book
"Performance Without Pain" and the link between her chronic
pain and acid reflux intrigued me since I have also been
dealing with tendonitis issues since grad school. Also, she is a
clarinet player, and I've found most (if not all) of the clarinet
players I have known to be trustworthy, honest people. It's a
good explanation of the diet and worth the seven bucks
(despite the ads on the website that make it look like a
potential scam). If you're going to follow what I'm doing,
invest in the e-book so you know all the why's.
The second is Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. It is the
guide to the Weston A. Price Foundation's prescribed way of
eating. Weston Price was dentist who studied really healthy
traditional cultures to find common links between them and
passed on what he found. He compiled his information and
there is now a foundation named after him that helps people
follow the diet that he recommended based upon his findings.
In a nutshell it is all about eating "nutrient dense" foods in the
best was possible for our bodies to absorb the nutrients from
those foods. Nourishing Traditions is a huge cookbook filled
2

with tons of recipes to help people follow those guidelines and

with additional information to help people understand why
they should follow those guidelines. It has been super helpful
for me. Check it out from your local library and peruse its
pages. So, the rules I am endeavoring to follow:
1) No Chocolate of any kind for at least the first month

2) No Grains of any kind for at least the first month

3) Only Raw milk, butter, yogurt, and other dairy products as
is possible

4) Bone broth at least once a day

5) Liver (from pastured animals) at least once a week

6) Cod Liver oil and High Vitamin Butter Oil daily

7) No added sugar (of any kind to any extent) for the first
month (with the exception of probiotic drinks, since much of
the sugar is 'eaten' in the lacto fermentation process)

8) Limited water - instead drink bone broth, milk, probiotic
drinks, etc. Some water however is fine.

9) Limited fruit - no more than 1-2 servings a day

10) and, of course, no 'processed' foods - this includes no
microwaving of food".

September 17, 2008 - A College Teacher in San Diego writes:
"When I was a kid, my parents made me drink milk because
they believed that it was a health food. Well, they were only
half right. Unprocessed milk is a health food, but milk from
cows who are fed artificial hormones, milk that is
homogenized, and milk that is pasteurized has virtually no
health inducing properties at all!
3

I like drinking milk, and a like to be healthy. So, drinking

processed milk put me in a quandary. Once I learned about
the hormone health hazards in conventional milk, I switched
to drinking organic milk, thinking that was the answer. But
then I learned that homogenization creates sticky plaque in
the body, and that wasn't what I wanted at all! So I started
drinking whole milk with the cream on top, thinking that was
the answer. I had read the warning labels on raw milk that
said that all kinds of scary bacteria could be in it, so I was
convinced that the organic cream top milk I was drinking was
the best available. Then I met chef Jem, and we had a
conversation about raw milk. I told him that I didn't want any
nasty old cow germs in my milk. He heard my concerns and
said he understood. He wasn't pushy or judgmental on the
issue of raw milk; he just invited me to watch his video. What
an education I got from the video! As is turns out, organic
grass fed, free range cows don't have nasty old germy milk. In
fact, quite the opposite is true! They have milk that is full of
good bacteria that improves digestion and other bodily
functions. So now I am quite convinced that organic raw milk
is the best available.
Since I have been drinking raw milk, my acid reflux has
improved, and my digestion seems to be smoother. My
boyfriend says he can feel the improvement in his digestive
system--no more stomach aches for him. And best of all, it
tastes good!"
Also: "I'll be having about 80 students watch ("Raw Milk: The
Whole Truth") in about 6 weeks, and I'll be sure to get their
feedback."
