Project Summary

Develop a safe and cost-effective solution to the challenges that the RenovaRP
Paracentesis Management System faces in effectively collecting ascitic fluid as it is drained
from a patient’s peritoneal cavity. The solution will improve efficiency and fluid capacity
during paracentesis procedures, and will implement system-specific elements.
The Adaptable Drainage System
3 Subsystems:

● Electrical Subsystem
(Yellow)
● Bag and Tube Subsystem
(Purple)
● Hanger Subsystem (Red,
Blue, Gray)

Testing: Areas of Concern:

● LED test ● Consistent contact between

● Current safety test connector and circuit terminals
● Connector strength test
● Voltage disturbance test
Bag and Tube Subsystem
The metal connector and metal cylinder allowed for a side outlet to be created on
the bags.

Connector Cylinder
Bag and Tube Subsystem
The bags will be screwed together
using an outlet tube and placed on the
Hanger Subsystem.
Bag and Tube Subsystem
Testing: Areas of Concern:

● Maintain time of procedure ● Fluid spilling when removing

● Vibration/bumping bags from Hanger Subsystem
● Outlet water flow
● Max liquid level
● Connection strength
● Hole strength
● Inlet vs. outlet area
● 5/5 trials complete for all tests

Testing: Areas of Concern:

● Support Clamp and Hook Strength Test ● Surface scratches

● Tipping Test ● Ease of detaching carabiner
○ Implement stoppers that limit
movement of support clamps and
hooks
